Add my thanks to all the others for posting this. I've been going cold turkey since the hi-rez version was taken off and just found this one. WhooHoo!
Let us know how it was- I remember the first time I saw. She was opening for Mary Black in ABQ and it was, well, really her sincerity and exuberance just sticks with me to this day. Hope she's still that way.
These Transatlantic Sessions videos are the closest thing to a time machine I've ever seen. You can watch these people aging in a matter of minutes. The quality of this video adds to the illusion, it's like this video made it to YouTube just in time before being lost forever. This is one of the best things about YouTube.
As a young man I caught my music on the run rarely seeing the entertainer between jobs and school. UTube to me is by far the most incedibl;e web site because I can see their expressions and the accompanying musicans and get the entire package al the way through from young to older. YouTube has perked up this old mans retirement. TY

It's no mystery. YOu accept Jesus as your Saviour and go to Heaven or you stay an unbleiver. No mystery where you will go if you do that. I do love her voice though.
reminds me so much of a certain 10 year old girl singing this song with so much pride 'cause she heard Iris singing it. Back in the early '90's, such fond memories.
I heard her (this song) for the first time a couple of weeks ago on Hillbilly at Harvard WHRB, and I ran to get my pen and paper when he said who it was. I know a good singer when I hear one. I thought she was a brand-new act! This song is from 1993? Wow! I have some catching up to do on Iris DeMent! I am from Boston so her accent really knocks me out! I love it! I also love the little nose wrinkle she did when she mentioned carrots. That was CUTE!
I just lost my aunt a few weeks ago and this was one of her favorite songs. now everytime i listen to it, it makes me think of her... which leads to crying.
wow, thank you...so amazing I also really love the messed up picture, i'm serious....extra nostalgia --love to share my music with you iris fans...on myspace...name is americanpirates

I'm sorry for the bad qulity of this movie.
I think that the better one is deleted from youtube. I recorded it with a prehistoric videorecorder and an older tape.

Lucky you.
I saw her years ago.
It was an impressive gig, because she was alone with a guitar or a piano.

This is the worst tune I have ever heard. Get yourself a Guinness and a Northern Soul compilation and sort your lives out now.

You have obviously another opinion about this song than other writers.
I prefer a big cold beer if you don't mind.
It's not my all time favorite, but I like her music.

Loved this unique, old style song since I heard it in 1993. Very 30's like when quartets would sing out in the small counties in Oklahoma/Arkansas.
