He IS Cuban, why would anyone try to change that,and I hope he is proud to be Cuban because it should be an honor. End all embragoes, trade restrictions and travel restrictions and Cuba will again be the gem of the Caribbean and regardless of names associated with the government, Cubans, as they demand more from their government will increasingly see more freedoms. Look at how China dealt with a "rogue island" of its own coast, Taiwan. Instead of embargoes, it has encouraged active trade and intercourse of all types between Chinese and Taiwanese. 50 years later, more than ever, Taiwanese are less and less willing to fight for official independence from China.
My theory is that the emotional state of exiled Cubans is that they are resentful of Cuban citizens who either sided with the revolution or consented by not trying hard enough to leave. Why do I say this? Well an embargo only hurts the people and helps the government via the presence of an exterior enemy .
