The vocal on this live version sounds pretty true to the album version not sure why some people are whinging here, would be nice to hear a live version with the music recreated too.
This is a great song from a good record but if I'd gone to this show without having heard them before her terrible live singing and annoying mannerisms would totally turn me off and make me not want to follow up on them.
no, i think you're wrong on this; the lo-fi aspect of Khaela's performance is what attracts a concertgoer, and would make them come back for more, given the next opportunity. her singing isn't the best, but it's real and no-bullshit. you should have seen her entire set, which included some interestingly entertaining dance moves, to truly appreciate her craft, and see how well she is at it.
I'm not ragging on the lo-fi aspect of the performance at all, and I have to admit her moves were pretty cute sometimes. I still thought she had a pretty awkward stage presence though - as if she wanted to be letting loose a little more but either didn't know how or was too nervous to.
if watching this video turns you off of future Blow music, then i feel sorry for you; Khaela Maricich & Jona Bechtolt (aka YACHT) will continue to put out fun and catchy lo-fi pop that'll make you want to sing along, dance, and perform drunken karaoke to.
I don't think lo-fi and bad singing should necessarily be equated. When I first heard this song it was the way she sang that hooked me, then when I heard this version I found most of the appeal from the album version was no longer present. As for feeling sorry for me, I think you're being a little dramatic - do you really feel sorry for everyone who doesn't share your musical tastes? That's a lot of people to feel sorry for, no matter what kind of music you're into.
you see, what you're saying is that you choose to not keep up on whatever new material they come out with, solely because you saw a video of a live performace that you thought was bad. well, if that's the case, don't go to their shows, don't see videos of their live shows on YouTube, and forget they even play live before an audience- just listen to their records and keep thinking that the way a song sounds on that album is the only way it will ever sound, and everything will be fine.
How cute she messed up. <3

uh, yeah... sure. you should ask her if
she'd like to join you some day; she is
very approachable, and might be open
to just about anything.

ah yes yes, that she was. i found it really funny
when she talked about the story of the guy in
her bedroom [which led to a song] and how she
expressed her love for "The OC". good times. :)
i also took videos of Of Montreal;
check them out if you'd like.
