Nothing like an old fashion thunderrstorn with the fork lighning and pounding rain...i'd like to see Vancouver Canada get a handful of theser wacky thunderstorms every year but we don't, so I'll enjoy our cold winter rain and short warm summer cause we got mountains enough top climb and enough beaches to give Los Angeles a run for their money, yes we got more beachesa here than anyone can imagine starting with Kitsilano Beach which is known for it's single women &* then there's Wreck Beach (ha).
I reckon the worst part about storms is the calm bit before. It is so eerily quiet and there is hardly any sign of movement. I happened to be caught out in a storm like this when it was calm. It quickly turned from a calm storm to raging. I ended up staying at a strangers house till the storm subsided. Great video by the way!
Nice shelf cloud! However, you wont see a funnel cloud coming out of these. Theyre considered anti-cyclonic, which means they only produce outflow winds, or straight-line winds.

One of our favorite places to see great storms is out by Tooele and the I-80 corridor. Rush Valley is also a good spot, as they frequently seem to get a lot of intense weather.
There's stoms like that all the time I see them at least yearly by tooele which is south of salt lake city on the other side of the mountians. I haven't see the clouds spinning like that for awhile though it scared the heck outta me cause I was home alone when I saw it I was about 9 years old so 13 years ago about.
Oh wait nevermind I definantly remember this I was kinda freaked when I saw something that looked like a funnel trying to form but I love Utah storms they are so cool and unpredictable.
@LPSFREAKGIRL I was just watching TV when a news reporter came on and gave a tornado warning. Worst of all, I was gettin ready to go see a movie when a chair hit my head
It was hard to videotape it, as the wind was blowing me over. I'll bet it was gusting 60 mph. The camera movement is mostly me trying to hang on and tape at the same time. It was a spectacular storm!
Pretty cool overall structure of the huge shelf-cloud, squall line that roared thru on FRI 6/26/09.... amazing for that jetliner to be flying underneath such turbulent skies too. BTW..6/26/09 did bring me some decent Tstorms here in southern RI...LI NY and NJ were really hard hit by severe weather same day.
Get a wind deflector sponge or something,.... That wind totally ruined the sound from the vid,... Not impressed at all by the sound,.. but the visuals are awesome! You should be able to get an anti-wind-shear protector thingy for it,... That's just TERRIBLE!!! :o Whoaa,.. blimey,.. total audio overkill. Huge shame because as I said, the visuals are amazing!
