The same thing is done in Afghanistan. Very early is the US mission (2003?) American jets wiped out a whole wedding party, 2 entire families 3 generations, by accident. The jets were flying over when instruments picked up the gun fire and locked missiles onto the coordinates.

No. The terminal velocity of a falling bullet is MUCH slower than muzzle velocity due to air resistance. The most it would do would be to clunk someone on the head, probably without leaving a bump.

Firing guns into the air at weddings has been a tradition of the area since guns were introduced - regardless of religion. It's totally a cultural thing.

This is actually the first time I've seen footage of a Christian group doing it, usually here in the States we see Muslims firing guns in the air with the words BE AFRAID! YOUR MOTHER IS NEXT! scrolling across the screen.

well upon falling back down the bullets can only reach terminal velocity which is greatly bellow the normal firing speed....does the falling bullet even have enough momentum to injure people?

Not if it's fired straight up, but if it's shot at enough of an angle from the vertical, it can stay spin stabilized and the terminal velocity goes way up. That's when it can injure/kill.
