  • Check out Joe Wright..jwpdlstl on youtube

  • I'm sure Dick is a capable player ,but based on this section of instruction I honestly don't rate his playing! I can see I have hit a raw nerve with some of you guys ,but it is not a personal attack on Dick. It is an observation of poor technique which leaves me unimpressed.

  • listen to 0.28 to 0.35 and tell me this is good !!?

  • Sounds great Dick!! Saw you at the TX steel guitar show.

  • does anyone know what strings he's picking?????????

  • mostly 6,5, and 4. liittle bit of 3

  • Great camera work -flippin awful tone!

  • Excuse me....

What makes the tone bad? I don't really know. Tell me, please.

  • I had had another listen and I figure his playing is awful! The notes are not being blocked and he is scribbling away randomly>Just my opinion u enjoy it if u like it!

  • So the TONE is not your issue, it's the playing.

  • First of all, Dick Meis is an incredible player. Yes, he messed up in one place, but he still kicks ass. It sounds like, to me, you're just jelous because you can't play like that.

  • How could you say the tone is awful? I'd like to see you come to denver and try to play better than Dick. I know him personally and he is a great steel player.

  • so,...he is not using a thumb pick right?, just three fingers.

is there tab to show what strings to pick thru out the video?

I can pick out what he's doing but just wondering.

  • I have listened again ,and I honestly dont rate this guy based on this clip! It is messy and tinny his blocking method is poor and I would guess he is a Hawaiin steel guitar player who has fumbled his way onto pedal steel. He is not in the same league as people like Paul Franklin or Dave Hartley and the tone is harsh and often his notes are fighting one another (possibly a tuning issue)

  • @okgibson335 I personally know dick and he is a great steel player. he has been playing since he was 12 and teaching since 1958. He is a country steel player more so than a hawaiian player. you should hear him play live he is outstanding. so how you can say he has fumbled his way on to the pedal steel is wrong. dick will challange anyone who want's a go at him. just my two cents worth.

  • This is very good--I get it! thank you Rick
