I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

@johnkx mmmmmm...it depends on your needs, really. I'm finding that I should probably have Windows running on my Mac, at least in a VM capacity, because most of the technology I plan to work with runs on Windows. Linux is great if you want a computer experience that will challenge you, and Mac is for pure ease of use.
so uh. this article seems to jump around alot and not really nail down any solid state points. Sort of like a baseball throwing machine in the batting cages randomly lobbing baseballs in the users general direction.
Yeah...well... LOL Honestly a lot of people seem to tout Linux for the eye candy over Vista or telling them about the advantages in terms of usage but not showing them. I've been meaning to put together a video like that for some time now, just not sure how to organize it.
They delete all the files in the current directory and sub directory that they have wright ability to. But on a further note, it would be the same as deleting my documents on windows. witch is easily done. I have been using Ubuntu for 3 years and though I promote its use I can say that the learning curve to using a new OS can be a little frustrating doing twice. So I don't tell you to use Linux but try it and there is nothing wrong if you like windows better.
I've been a big fan of Linux for a long time. Right now I'm trying a bunch of new things with it. I just threw together a comp without a hard drive for Sentry Firewall.
Sentry Firewall, creates a Ram Disk on startup and searches for a floppy drive with a configuration file. You then just set it up to act as a firewall and the coolest thing, is that if a virus get on, you just reboot it and it's fine! Because it uses a ramdisk rather then an actual hard drive, the virus is screwed.
Sweet :) Ubuntu seems to be the most popular OS for Linux newbies, what if we were to incorporate this technology standard into Ubuntu if you had the proper hardware to back it up?
You can install LInux on your PC, yes. You can also try Wubi which is a way to install the most popular distribution of Linux, Ubuntu, on to your PC without harming its hard drive - this is done by making Windows think Linux is an application.
can someone tell me why big software companys are not writting for linux?, why don't they start making linux versions of their software and sellling it as they would windows? as soon as this happens im moving to linux, please tell me someone as I have spent 2 hours googling and cant find out, reply to this comment!. thanks in advanced.

We already did a few years ago. While I could see better, they were the partial cause of a temporary complete loss of vision because, due to my cerebral palsy, I have trouble gripping certain things. So, when the contact had dried out, I was unable to remove it. This lack of moisture is what contributed to the experience I had a few years ago with total blindness.
Linux wasnt origionally made to be a hacker system, but most hackers do use linux because its somehow safer "Thats what ive heard". because with Macs and Windows PC's you have to register your copy of the OS. i don't see anything wrong with having to activate my copy of windows, maybe they track you or something lol.
