  • you're hot

  • I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

  • @MetallicGecko I am aware :) Please note when the video was made. :)

  • Correction as requested: Gentoo is pronounced with a soft g.

  • by the sound of ur computer in the background, i'd say your runnning Windows..

    cuz Linux is silent..

  • @leo3696 Mac at the time. I'm now running Linux on an older Toshiba.

  • Lacking NeckBeard.

    Grow a neckbeard son.

  • @k1ngpooh That came out of nowhere. LOL

  • @townerj I have been made aware of this since the taping of this video, but thanks. :)

  • gehn-too it's named after a type of linux.

  • Linux all the way!

  • @jeroeniskoning Absolutely! :D

  • GNU... GAH-NEW.

    Recursive acronym.

    GNU Not Unix.

  • @SuperKittyPancake Ah. THanks. :)

  • 5/5 Good video. I preffer Ubuntu over all the others. But Mac OS X just owns all of them IMO.

  • so linux is just another computer like windows and mac and so on right ?

  • When you get right down to it, yes. All three can do the same things.

  • @rml695 BUT what do you think is better?

  • @johnkx mmmmmm...it depends on your needs, really. I'm finding that I should probably have Windows running on my Mac, at least in a VM capacity, because most of the technology I plan to work with runs on Windows. Linux is great if you want a computer experience that will challenge you, and Mac is for pure ease of use.

  • YAY NURDS FTW

  • who doesnt like beer?

  • I don't. LOL

  • love ure videos man

  • "and forgetting the muffler while he's at it" (With eyebrows!!) LOL! : ) Nice vid man!!

  • so uh. this article seems to jump around alot and not really nail down any solid state points. Sort of like a baseball throwing machine in the batting cages randomly lobbing baseballs in the users general direction.

  • Yeah...well... LOL Honestly a lot of people seem to tout Linux for the eye candy over Vista or telling them about the advantages in terms of usage but not showing them. I've been meaning to put together a video like that for some time now, just not sure how to organize it.

  • Stop reading from the screen & be more exciting

  • Note the time I did this. I do believe I haven't done this sort of thing in months.

  • soooo boringgg

  • sorry nvm i added that comment befor the begining lol sorry

  • It's fine. :)

  • Is Linux an operating system? like windows and mac? please i need help.

  • yep

  • right on

  • u r blind

  • Yep - partially blind.

  • Comment removed

  • They delete all the files in the current directory and sub directory that they have wright ability to. But on a further note, it would be the same as deleting my documents on windows. witch is easily done. I have been using Ubuntu for 3 years and though I promote its use I can say that the learning curve to using a new OS can be a little frustrating doing twice. So I don't tell you to use Linux but try it and there is nothing wrong if you like windows better.

  • i have been using ubunoob for about one year now,

    share knowledge!

  • geeks rule teh world

  • FLOSS= Free/Libre Open Source Software

  • I like that :)

  • nerd? yes? no?

  • I'm not afraid to admit it, yes. :)

  • well at least you admint it :D

  • hehe, i like the nerds life so much i'm glad to admit it :D

  • I've been a big fan of Linux for a long time. Right now I'm trying a bunch of new things with it. I just threw together a comp without a hard drive for Sentry Firewall.

Sentry Firewall, creates a Ram Disk on startup and searches for a floppy drive with a configuration file. You then just set it up to act as a firewall and the coolest thing, is that if a virus get on, you just reboot it and it's fine! Because it uses a ramdisk rather then an actual hard drive, the virus is screwed.

  • Sweet :) Ubuntu seems to be the most popular OS for Linux newbies, what if we were to incorporate this technology standard into Ubuntu if you had the proper hardware to back it up?

  • Good video!.. but one thing... Who is Linus Tolvards?...the creator of Linux... but who is Richard Stallman??...I'm in a mess

  • Look it up on Wikipedia oif you can because right now I cannot think. LOL

  • Damn you got some thick ass glasses lol

  • Watch my video about new glasses & you will see I have thinner ones.

  • do you keep the fatter glasses to keep with your character familiar to the fans?

  • I wear the thinner transition glasses all the time now, so no.

  • (continued from the last comment) as opposed to a full operating system. You install the full OS, but it looks to Windows like any other app.

  • You can install LInux on your PC, yes. You can also try Wubi which is a way to install the most popular distribution of Linux, Ubuntu, on to your PC without harming its hard drive - this is done by making Windows think Linux is an application.

  • This would violate the GPL - which states that all Linux software must be open and free. FOSS - Free & Open Source Software.

  • yall sound like fuckin kids, take ya lil punk asses back 2 school

  • Mind if I ask who you are addressing in taht comment (just to confirm?) Thanks. :)

  • sooo true

  • don´t think so!!!

  • fuck off

  • wtf! all these pcs! too hard to understand.

  • You r a geek ( that is a nerd) LOL!!!

  • yes, joey the geek, they track you.

  • good job :D

  • dwaynee 305, i cant believe you would say that... thats so disrespectful... there's no need for that... people like you disgust me

  • Very helpful vid

  • i like Gentoo

  • you should try contacts man

  • We already did a few years ago. While I could see better, they were the partial cause of a temporary complete loss of vision because, due to my cerebral palsy, I have trouble gripping certain things. So, when the contact had dried out, I was unable to remove it. This lack of moisture is what contributed to the experience I had a few years ago with total blindness.

  • Ouch. That is all I can say. Ouch.

  • lunix is a hacker operating system isnt it?

  • the name is Linux and it isnt a Hacker System.

But it is bether to hack from it as

    Windows and Mac.

  • i know, LUNIX (the hacker form)

    NOT LINUX

and i have linux, i have ubuntu but i cant get a screen recorder to show you

  • i to have it :P

  • kool

  • Get recordmydesktop and show us :-)

  • kkl

  • how do you install im really crap with installin linux shiznit

  • Linux wasnt origionally made to be a hacker system, but most hackers do use linux because its somehow safer "Thats what ive heard". because with Macs and Windows PC's you have to register your copy of the OS. i don't see anything wrong with having to activate my copy of windows, maybe they track you or something lol.

  • i agree it is free i got my ubuntu cd for free

  • Its safer because few people use it and it is near impossible to code a virus for it unless the user logs into the root account as their main.

  • wait i thought solaris was unix based not a version of linux

  • thanks, white sammy davis jr.

  • hahaha

  • Everyone EXCEPT wrileys, IzzYandPalpro and avitheg,
