  • REmy, you are the coolest french dude ever :D And I am wondering how much french can i learn in one summer? I've dreamed of speaking french ever since i saw an american in paris when i was 5. My parents have forced me to take spanish all throughout middle school and now high school and i have a dream of studying abroad in france during 11th grade and so now they're giving me an opportunity to study french this summer and i need to be in french II by late august so would i be able to do that? :]

  • Bonjour!!

    Je m'appelle Gen:)

imma high school student learning french.

i just want to say thanks for breaking everything down for me.

well i'll continue seeing your videos.

    merci

    au revoir:)

  • I'm a REAL beginner and I have a question!! How come 'How are you?' is 'Comment ça va?', shouldn't it be 'Comment es tu?' like the way 'who are you' is 'Qui es tu'?? Please anwer me somebody lol...

  • @khzzang9 I'm french, And that's what I thought too when I learn How are you. You can think "How are you" means "Comment es tu" but the "are you" would mean "are you feeling". I mean, this is how I see it, but the thing between french & English is that you can't translate sentences words by words

  • @khzzang9 Theorically you could say "Comment es tu" and you may be understood, but it is not what people use everyday. If you have trouble with this, just think "How are you going?" (Comment vas-tu) or "How is it going?" (Comment ça va). At least these two sentences are quite common here in Australia and are the litteral translation from French.

  • Ce n'est pas du francais. Je n'entends que l'anglais. Il faut donner des cours en parlant seulement en francais.

  • thanx a bunch mate!i´m learning now and feels fine,,thanx

  • i like the way yo teach french..

  • Thankyou for your lessons. I am learning very steadily and retaining what you teach, the pace of the lessons is perfect for me.

  • Je suis Française et je tiens juste à dire qu'en France, on dit plus"Je m'appelle_____" Dire "Je suis____" n'est pas incorrect mais s'emploie beaucoup moins. :)

  • @Flyaz32

Tu as raison bien sûr.

  • @Youfree09

    Je suis français d'origine :-)

  • This is a great way to learn. Thank you so much!

  • je suis is i am. comment t`appelle-tu is my name is.

  • Can be translated **

Sorry, I made a mistake, I saw it after I sent it

  • @rungirl05 «How are you?» can be translate as «Comment allez-vous?» or «Ça va ?» or «Comment ça va?» and in many others ways if we consider the familiar language.

Source: A guy who speaks french because he lives in Québec.

  • French is a cool language, I know how to say some of it.

  • the easiest french lesson on youtube <3

I°M from Surinam,my native is dutch, butt I have sister living in France and I cann°t speak french when I get in France ,so thnx to you ican teach myself some french

    thank u once again;)

  • You are so chilled man. Great the way you explain things so the learner can feel confident instead of only half learning,

  • merci beaucoup Remy

  • it must be "ça va pas bien" not ca va pas

  • i find it REALLY helps to learn if you have someone to speak with or you listen to french movies with subtitles or something, like im no pro at all but just watching these guides isnt gonna teach you french, it will help you though! try and even just to in the mirror with yourself for a few minutes and review what you know and try and rephrase stuff, learnin a language is not easy! thanks for the videos though i need to refresh myself every now and then!

  • Le francais du quebec est lmeilleur haha

  • Your teaching people all wrong!!!!!

Je suis Xavier?! That's wrong too! For all you people who have been mistaken by him, you say Je m'appelle__________. Je suis_____ est incorrect grammaticalement!

  • @sheaofleaves124 still gets the message across. Je suis.. I am... Just less formal?

  • @sheaofleaves124 Not really. You actually can say both. -_-... And I know what I'm talking about, I'm french.

  • @sheaofleaves124 Ah, a non-french I suppose. No it's not incorrect. There are more that one correct form. The frecnh language is a supple one. Check before to correct others or you will look lke a fool.

  • Merci Remy! i have a lot of friends who live in Belgium and they speak french, so this is really helping me! thanks so much for making these! i watch one a night, and then i practice is the next day(:

  • Remy so nice!

  • if you speak french all time I think it will be better to understand how is the french,

you can put the traduction written on the screen if you want. but I´m learning french, I´m spanish, and If you mix english and french, it is more difficult.

thanks at all! merci pour tout! au revoir!

  • what`s the difference of the sound of "un" and "en"?

Hello Remy, I am Tarek, I love your videos, Thankyou

  • @TRUEorFAKE Hey Dude, i'm a French guy.

When you says "your videos", you mean that there's several videos? In that case, the right answer is "vos videos" and not "votre videos".

    =)

  • awesome job man! u rly helped me a lot

  • you sound so passive yet so hilarious! great work

  • haha nice start

    okeey Qui=who and who=qui..nice

  • marci.

  • Is mise jack.

    Je suis jack.

    I am jack.

I'm Irish and these videos are really helping me to learn the foundations.

    Merci.

  • Merci !!

    your lessons are very helpful

  • Is it easier to go from Spanish to French or some English to French in terms of vowel pronunciation?

  • Ah, I knew this lesson from school, you explained it better than my teacher! Merci, le leçon-c'est super! ;)

  • Actually, in french, no one says "Qui es tu ?" We'd prefer "T'es qui?", but if we don't know the person it would be "Qui êtes vous?"

"Comment ça va" becomes very often "ça va ?" but that's not a real question, we don't really expect an answer.

  • J' Remy

    thanks for this language

now let me teach you a little something

como estas? = how are you? (Spanish)

bien y tu... = good and you? (Spanish)

    thanks again!!

  • I like your lesson! Also, I think you're sexy--hope you don't mind! :P I'm a sucker for glasses and a gentle voice.

  • Bonjour remy vos leçons sont grands. Je profite de français au collège et ils ont vraiment aider! peut-être que vous pouvez faire des leçons intermédiaires!

  • Bonjour Remy! Comment ça va? Qui es tu? Je suis Sabuhi. Ça va bien. Merci Beaucoup. Au revoir...

  • can you please explain the individual meanings of the words comment ca and va (sorry, cant find the special characters) i didnt quite catch it there.

    Can they be used separately?

Great Video, i hope i learn french, its a good alternative language :)

  • @sam181192 non each of these 2 words can't be used seperatly but there are exceptions. "ça" we use it rudely alone to say "That !" - "ça !" and "ça là !" "ça là-bas !" etc.... "Va" in Comment ça va as said cannot be used alone otherwise you'll mean "Go !" wich becomes an oder and by so a verbe "Vas !"

  • vos élèves de sexe féminin doivent etre très fan de vous.

  • Very very straightforward to understand!

     Thank you very much, Remy!!!!!

  • Merci!

  • I'm a French speaking guy...So first of all I would like to apologize for my english...

"comment ça va?" could be compared with your "how is it going?" "comment allez-vous" could be compared with "How are you?" It is the formal form for "Comment vas-tu" which is used when you know the person you are talking with.

"Comment ça va" is just a little bit more informal than the two forms above but people won't be shocked if you use it.

    A+ et bravo :-)

  • Thx for the video! I am trying to pick up some french. :)

  • Isn't it "Qui es-tu?"

  • What is the difference between comment ca va and comment allez vous? Don't they both mean the same thing?

  • @awalker41 No they don't mean the same thing. Comment allez-vous ? is informal and you will want to use it when for example you don't know somebody or for sigh of respect and so logically comment vas-tu ? when you know the person.

  • Je suis Elizabeth! I'm trying to learn French, I'm Indonesian. I find this video lessons very useful! Merci beaucoup! Au revoir.

  • @tonymoonflowers hello im french, and i really want to know: is it difficult to learn french?

    thanks

  • @MaguesInfinity hello! well im colombian therefore i speak spanish (and well, english) and i can tell you that yes it can be difficult for some people, i've been in french classes since last september and i have the advantage that it is easier for me to pronunciate in french since i already have two other languages but i sill have to work on it very much and put a lot of effort into any conversation, but hey, it is possible!

  • Bonjour Remy,

    Je suis Léjanne.

Thanks for your lessons, they are really a big help. I'm Dutch, and the pronounciation of the French words are easier for me then they are for English people, so I'm practicing to say them in the right way. That is going quite well.

When you said, Comment (haven't got the wigly thing on my keyboard) ca va, It reminded me of a song that was a big hit a few years ago in the Netherlands:

Comment ca va, it was a song by the Shorts.

    :D

  • Thanks, I added the video on my blog.

  • yea these short videos are good..plus you get more view

  • Oh, I just started taking french lessons, but I didn´t know any french the first day, and they´ve had 3 classes already, and the teacher speaks too fast, I mean, I was trying to catch the pronounciation but I still very bad at it. Your lessons are a big help to me. Thanks!!

  • Votre lecons sont bien!

  • merci helps a lot to get my "french" together.
