  • People need to shut up with the negative comments. This person has taken the time to make an informative video so thumbs up to that!

  • Plastic cup next to open flames? nice way to start a house fire.

  • some really good stuff here

  • great video thanks

  • This is great - like you I only need a little water for my Venus fly trap when I can't collect rain water. Who are all these strange people wanting to drink it?!

  • Try placing icecubes on the cellophane or cooling your plastic hose by running it through a pot of ice water, that may even remove the need for cutting holes in a plastic cup and covering it whit cellophane :-D. Also, don't distill alcohol on a gas fire in a pot whit an opening thats to wide and stuffed with paper :-P

  • Cute, you're going to super heat plastic... no that won't release any harmful chemicals, of course not. lol

  • OK I know how now I will buy it for less than a dollar. But good to know.

  • out of the frying pan, into the fire..!!!

you removed less harmful mineral components, but you added a lot more poisonous stuf..."plastic"....bingo..!!!!

  • Gay

  • wont plastic melt?

  • This man shows that he is ready to survive when a natural disaster hits. Sure, it could be done better, but at least he made the decision to get moving.

  • wow man this is really poisoning yourself , plastic like that heated wll add to the water very bad components.

  • plastic? so what get over it its petty you yourself use palstic and food all the time get it 100% out of you life then tell me about it. You could also use a bunghole stopper from home brew supply in the tea kettle hole. then twist the tube around a dowel. tape it then place into a deep tray, fill with water and freeze. this would condense vapors especially if brewing spirits. More stoppers with drilled holes at the in and out of the tray would help. jsut some thoughts. thanks

  • You should take this video down. Someone might try this and get sick. Use copper and glass instead.

  • get a life

  • get a life

  • yeah! me and my partner we're so stressed of finding an easier way to desalinate water. but i have a question where does that water in the pot came from was that from the sea? i'm really curious..

  • tnx.. me and my partner we were like stressing ourselves out looking for easier way of distilling water..then we saw your video and like w0w we're amazed.. but what kind of tube were you using ???

  • You can be a human and congratulate the kid for being proactive in helping out his understanding of botany. Maybe even give a bit of advice.

Or you can troll and try to make yourself feel better by insulting someone of which you know absolutely nothing.

Kudos to you, kid. You're finding solutions to your concerns. You're one of the good ones.

But yes, you want to stay away from heating plastic. It may be more beneficial to work on a more permanent rig for reuse. Lots of vids out there. :)

  • are you kidding me??? plastic tube into a plastic cup with plastic wrap?

  • You are a health hazard!!! You melted your tupperware int he last video, now...! I can't watch this anymore. @rainbowsalads is right! And stuffing hot kettle with paper towel?! Please tell me you turned the gas off?!

Just kidding. I'm not, but I am poking fun at the obvious hazards.

@TrueGreatness73 names just one of the carcinogenic (cancerous) in most plastics. Like the tube, cup and cling film. Heat that shit up is NOT good for you. The carcinogen, Flouride, in tapwater probs better for you!

  • this video sucks

  • Use glass jar with hole in the lid and put the jar in cold water with ice for better condensation

  • Why does this site require solving a puzzle after I commented on 2 others? Are the censors too picky?

  • try large metal cooling container before collecting cup and spiral more tubing inside of it the cooling container just like an old moonshiner's still that works on the same principles...

  • omg... If you tape a zigarett with like 1 cm tejp and smoke it you die. this is basicly as stupid

  • everything you use is flamable miss spell

  • Look at InspiredByDemand's Video it's better than mine :P

  • Dude, If you are going to do it, do it right !!!!!

    Search Youtube for InspiredByDemand

  • If you are going to do it, do it right...

  • why not just put tubing on the spout of the kettle and have it drain into the container?

  • What an idiot! His making plastic water:-o

  • you fucked over that # 4 plant o

  • This water is good for plants and pets but because of the plastic cup, plastic clear hose along with the cellophane it's not good water for humans. you'd better get a copper distiller for human water.

  • @connectingdots1 wrong.stainless steel(surgical grade),the copper will be toxic for drinking,when distilled.

damm .dont you research before giving out advice?

  • @bobo007xx

why do whiskey makers use copper?

  • @helokittie its the only metal that wont kill you if you run liquid through. I make moonshine and we use copper. aluminum will flake off when heated up and get into the liquor and if drank will kill you in a matter of 4 days.

  • @helokittie it removes sulphites, and will NOT get into your drink, regardless of what some of the idiots here will tell you.

Theres a reason why distillers have been using it forever.

  • @bobo007xx Wrong, copper removes any remaining sulphites

and is food grate. its the reason why its used in ethanol stills, it

will NOT break down into your drink.

you and 6 idiots need to be the ones doing homework.

  • @bobo007xx actually YOU might want to do some research before trying to act smart. Copper is not toxic in the slightest, other wise every person to have ever drunk whiskey or a number of other alcoholic beverages would be dead by now. The only way to make copper toxic for distilling anything from alcohol to water would be to use LEAD SOLDER. Which all plumbing grade solder is lead free. So before you try to act smart use some common sense and/or read before posting. Otherwise just STFU.

  • @bobo007xx Copper is NOT toxic by any means. Indeed, it's one of the healthiest cookware that unfortunately is not appreciated in North America (btw, I don't believe the cattle here is made of cooper, it seems enamel porcelain to me). The toxic parts of this project are the plastics containers/tubing. Plastic containers leak chemicals into even with cold water, let alone hot water/esteem!...Lastly, he seems like a very young lad; don't crush his creativity.

  • @connectingdots1 boiled tap water is only OK for plants...not animals or us...

  • I lolled @ 0:09 motor skill fail... :)

  • why watering ? dont you drink it ?

  • This isnt a good method. Anytime plastic is encorporated with water distillation, it makes the water impure again. If not that, the water may become worse than before.

  • this looks a little sketchy...... but I'm going to do it anyway.

  • its a gd idea but u need to be a bit more carefull with the plastic, sticking a plastic tube in a kettle will probs melt it and cling film (or other wrapping plastic) only needs seconds to melt!

  • laffing

  • Ghetto style.

  • some mean ppl here... i think ur vid was gud ^.o AND....FOR PPL WHO SAID THIS WAS SUCKISH.... i actually learned this in science... but with like glass tubing x.x anyways...gj ^.o

  • Distilled water isnt more healthy then tap water.

  • Oh dear god, heating plastic. I'd get cancer.

  • @LugiaLightning LoL!

  • @BASSstarlet By the way, I dont microwave ANYTHING plastic even if it says it's safe. It's not scientifically safe to really have packaged food in plastic, but I can't really ... do much about it. Heh. I just throw things onto plates in the mic :D

  • are you showing us how to distill water or burn our house down? Either way its effective, thanks for the info. :)

  • SUCCESSFUL MODIFICATION EVERYONE:

    1) GLASS cup

    2) COPPER tubing

    3) NO paper towels!!!

  • I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW MANY PROBLEMS THERE ARE WITH THIS.

It is an excellent idea but with MAJOR flaws.

    1) the plastic will melt

    2) the cup will melt

    3) the paper towel is at risk of catching fire

    etc etc

  • I LOVE CARNIVOROUS PLANTS! LOL

  • can i use an asbestos or a lead tube to stick in the kettle? Plastic hose seems unhealthy. LOL

-try glass pipe or (even better) stainless instead mate

  • ATTENTION EVERYBODY WHO DRINKS DISTILLED WATER PLEASE READ!!!

ok i have a few questions for you.

    1. do you drink it everyday?

    2. have you been drinking it for many years?

    3. have you had any adverse reactions to it?

the reason i am asking this is because i want to know if it is safe to drink for long term consumption. there is so many lies about water, and i have yet to find any scientific study's proving it is safe for long term consumption, but i have also not found any that prove it is bad.

  • @cronicjointpain I have been drinking distilled water for over 2 years and still alive. I'd like to learn how to make it at home, but I need at least a gallon a day...

  • @cronicjointpain ARE YOU RETARDED???

YOU JUST ASKED IF DRINKING ***PURE*** WATER IS BAD FOR YOU.

    YOU MUST BE RETARDED.

YOU SHOULD BE DRINKING MORE DISTILLED WATER; THE FLOURIDE IS ROTTING YOUR BRAIN!!!

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance fuck you asshole whats wrong with being sure about things? i just want to be absolutely certain that it is safe for long term drinking, whats so wrong with that? huh? your fucking stupid, and actually no i am a very educated person but nobody my age is capable of learning everything there is to know in this world, in fact nobody knows everything including yourself. water is something i don't know to much about so i was just making sure, you don't have to be a prick about it

  • @cronicjointpain YOU'RE RIGHT, IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT THAT YOU ARE FUCKING RETARDED. HOWEVER, THANK YOU FOR CONFIRMING THAT YES, YOU ARE FUCKING RETARDED.

  • @cronicjointpain chek out Dr Brian Clement and Peter Ragner on distilled water and you will realize its not only save but the right type of water for us...

  • stop using plastic!

  • Fail!

  • Similar, not familiar.

  • super tacky, ugly, kitch, cheesy..

  • I'll assume his parents pay the gas bill in his house. He doesn't seem to care that he just ran the bill up to water a few flowers.

  • This fucking idiot needs to learn how to use a video camera.

  • plastic???????????? STOP.

  • hey get 1/4 copper tube coil it put it in the hole that makes it whistle and u got yourself a still you can distill water or wine you have to make a paste out of flower and water what we call dough to sill the lid

  • plastic heating up is not such a good ideea...

an easy way to avoid that could be a cooling system...simply wrap some ice bags along the plastic tube. water will turn back to liquid faster and the system should cool the plastic enough to avoid the nasty stuff it could release...

    just my 2 cents

  • Thanks for the info CarnivorousPlants57, you've obviously got to a lot of trouble working this out and it is helpful. Just out of interest, do your plants really need distilled water? Wouldn't rain water surfice? Surely that's all that nature gives them.

  • 1 The plastic fucks your water

2 The napkins will absorb a part of your water -> waste.

  • your design is slowly getting better lol

  • if you just let ice cubes melt will that be distilled water?

  • @TheOverlord55 no lol

  • Well CarnivorousPlants57 I think it's a smart idea so don't listen to some of these other people they seem mad at you for some reason. Someone did have a good point about using a plastic tube could be dangerous. Maybe copper tubing would be safer. Thanks again

  • Honestly, I think this way is interesting. If anybody does have any better suggestions, then just say it and not be an ass. And yes, you can buy distilled water at any store for less than $1.50 or so. In my case, I have to use distilled water in my son's humidification machine and he goes through roughly a gallon a day. So spending over $30 on water a month gets to be a little out of hand. I've looked online, but if anyone has any better ideas that will make more water please feel free to say so

  • I like all of the arguments about hazards, but I personally like the bottle of booze chillin' in the background.

  • This looks like a fire hazard and safety should be your first priority.... i am sure if this was on television they would say "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME"... there should be some accountability for this video

  • OMG a whole drop of purified water.....nice job

  • umm.. not a good idea... i can see things melting/catching fire...

  • heating plastic =Bisphenol A. Not healthy. your better off drinking the tap if your gonna do it that way. I understand your idea but use stainless steel piping instead.

  • @TrueGreatness73 i agree.. lol

  • Heating up plastic tubing... GEE THAT'S SMART!!!!!

  • So wrong in so many ways.

  • @papifolks. Rain may be formed in "natures own distillery" but it is far from pure by the time it reaches the ground. First of all, rain droplets form around a neucleus (this is how we can 'seed' clouds to encourage them rain. Secondly, on the way down, the water will catch anything it bumps into, why do you think it smells so fresh and clean after it rains? Thirdly, where do you think acid-rain comes from?

  • I see where you are getting at. You are talking the travel the droplet had to make on the way down and having to travel through polluted atmosphere conditions before reaching the ground catching pollutants in the process. Not sure about the acid rain theory, I heard that was a myth here but true on other planets. All of our water would have to be made of all sulfuric acid in order for it to rain acid here on earth, and even if it did most of it would evaporate before hitting the ground.

  • Rain water is not polluted. Rain water is formed the same EXACT way the water in this video was done, through nature's distillation process.

  • Ever heard of a little tinkle called ACID RAIN?

  • YEARS ago you would be right. The sky's are very toxic now, my friend.

  • To all of you assfucks that are leaving dickhead comments go go to hell .The guy is simply trying to show you a way to do something and you have to be pricks and bitches to him ? If you have a better way to do this just tell him . You dont have to be mean about it .

  • trukvltwontdie3ghz - you are an asshole my friend (sorry this is as polite as I can be to someone this moronic!) decentralise well in my friend, the negative ions of moonlight are awesome

  • Looks like a hassle. Are you going to do this every time you want something to drink? Besides you're heating plastic.

  • @wavepsychic your not drinking it r-tard its for the plants!

  • @DoomsdayKillz Who do you think you are to call me a retard?

Distilled water is good to clean chlorine, fluoride, and parasites out of your water! After it is cleaned you mix it with lemon juice to add minerals to it. Then drink it, I'd take my chances with Distilled water any day over tap water! Either way the plastic isn't good for the plants or us so I don't see the point of this video!

  • @DoomsdayKillz wtf is wrong iwth you it makes your water healthy for both you and your plants and gets rid of deadly sodium flouride.

  • it's fluorine, that is what they add to your water.

  • @bc0wful and it is dangerous. and it causes tooth decay!

  • Go buy distilled water if you can't be bothered to do this.

Alternatively, I use a chem lab condenser which catches pretty much all the vapor into liquid water.

If you don't mind waiting, you can go make your own solar still. It will take you the whole day to collect half a cup of water, but it's nice to see it work.

  • Gracias, esto es increíblemente útil.

Es la mejor agua para beber!!! Wooooow.

    Thanks =D

  • i need some to make supercooling

  • Rain water is polluted nowadays. And im not lying.

  • cool

  • wont the plastic melt?

ha arrow head has distiled water that isnt ozonated and it costs like 1.49 a gallon or 4.00 a gallon hmm

  • Orrrrr

You could go to the store and buyyyy someee

No offence to you, CP I love your videos.

  • The main thing to point out here is that when you buy distilled water that is made for drinking is that the distillers add minerals back into the water after distilling (because pure distilled water is nasty tasting), so if you really need pure distilled water doing it yourself is probably best. Although you can probably think up 1000 better ways to do it than this. LOL

  • You have to be careful to pick the real distilled water, not those "purified drinking water" or mineralized water.

  • how long do u have to w8? and i like ur cool plants hehe..

  • why waste an hour making distilled water that is less than a cup and not just go the store and buy a gallon for like a dollar?

  • u can friggin buy them?! OMG i should've just done tht! but um too late...

  • Good point.

  • Like when u do a science project and some ppl out in the wilderness i guess..

  • ummm will using a straw work?

cuz im trying to clean my laptop's screen and it said to use distilled water and vinegar o_o

  • Yeah that would probably work if the straw doesn't burn up then you're good ;)

  • @CarnivorousPlants57 LOL I READ THIS AFTER!! well it will be useful my fault for being retarded enough to think plastic straws don't melt...or catch fire.

  • @eliza5536 there are safer ways to distill water

  • why not put a balloon on the nosle

  • You could also run to walmart and buy a gallon of distilled water for a buck

  • Comment removed

  • err the chemist, the water in bottles for irons in tescos et al or just use rain water its what the plants need and want

  • Comment removed

  • @g7swr you dont know shit about THESE plants.the minerals and iron will kill them. they have sensitive roots.

  • or you could also just make it yourself

  • To CarnivorousPlants57: I really like this video, although it could be a little shorter. I think the video is cool and helpful. I especially like the end where you get to see all of the plants getting watered. You sure have a lot of them. Good luck with your plants.

  • too much heated plastic= released chemicals=more harmful than non-distilled water= dead plant

  • @DbzGokussj4 uhhhh, NOTHING is more harmful to any life form than sodium flouride. its the most reactive element on the periodic table!

  • lol i actually thought you were serious for a second XD

  • @ComputerHax1343 on what?

  • sodium fluoride is not on the periodic table however, sodium and fluorine are. sodium fluoride is in toothpaste, but i don't recommend putting it on your plants.

  • decentralise, you are right about the plastic but there is no scientific evidence that sugests drinking distilled water long term is bad for you. you recieve minerals from food not water, your gut will pull mineral and excreat toxins. the bottled water industry is a multibillion dollar insdustry and would like you to believe it is bad for you because you can make it at home, for half the price. it is the purest form of water known to man. don't believe the hype.

  • Minerals are important to make the water alkaline. This water has more excess oxygen and alkaline minerals then distilled or acid tap water. This is what our body needs to penetrate the cells to detoxify. At pH between 8-10, ionized alkaline water will have 100's of times more excess oxygen then neutral tap water and no acid elements or toxic substances in it. Do your homework and goto: "detoxifynow" and read "alkaline water". Otherwise goodluck!

  • 1. The chemicals of the plastic will come in the water because of the heat. Even breastcancer comes from this. (People never leave your plastic waterbottle in a warm car!) Never drink this water, it's becomes very toxic!

    2. There are no minerals left in the water when you distill. If you drink this water it will suck minerals out of your body. It is completly dead! Put minerals in it.

    3. Than you have to energise your water, There are many ways to do this. You can swirl. Put in the moonlight.

  • hold up, Energize my water? moonlight? (bullshit meter reads 500% then explodes)

  • @trukvltwontdie3ghz yet is far below the ignoranceisblissweizsmart meter which hits 3000 then vaporizes.

    baaaaaaaaaaaaa,baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

  • Absolutely true, you can even smell the chemicals in the water after leaving it sitting for 2 or so days. Try it.

  • @decentralise WTFH? ENERGIZE? WTF WTF IS THE MATTER ARE YOU INSANE? and plants dont get cancer. and WATER ISNT ALIVE WTF SO HOW CAN IT BE DEAD? minerals will kill these plants were talking about here.

  • Is that tubing food grade?

  • You could also put more than one cup attatched to it :p.
