I bet he's comparing HD7 that had initially 32bit color enabled with HD7S that comes with NoDo and 16bit color enabled "by design". obviously HD7S would have visible banding on gradients.
For thoose who unlocked HD7 (or any other pre-NoDo WP7 device) and applied prevent lock hack, even on NoDo that changes 32bit color to 16 you can change it back with registry editor. on HD7S you can't do that, because you initially have NoDo and can't unlock it unless you somehow install older firmware.
I don't like this video Adam because you don't tell us your opinion, which screen is better. You are the one who has both devices in hands for real. Not the viewer. And video quality is very bad. I rather like pointed reviews.
@goldlocke2 Well, I like the HD7 a lot better because the color banding isn't as noticable, but I like the HD7S better for the better hardware buttons and better color display.
Very good comparison review, I had a feeling there wouldn't be much difference, sticking with the HD7 because this is not really a major upgrade, in fact it might be worse in some areas. It's great that AT&T users are now able to get this phone and OS, they are very good.
@SVVULAK1 I hate to break it to you but your HD7 is exactly the same as the one I have, just with German as the default language. The HD7 in europe is LCD only. The HD7s is the ONLY HD7 that has SLCD and it's only available in America at the moment.
@afifmazlan Exactly, when you compare the two side by side the difference is noticable, but on its own the display on the HD7 is really good even for an LCD
Good comparison, try to be a bit more cheerful like Brandon :)
To me the viewing angles were clearly better on the SLCD, but overall I was surprised at the minimal difference between the two. I guess the HD7 was pretty good already.
To me the HD7S looked more appealing for everyday use, but both are no match to my SuperAmoled :)
weird. MobileTechReview said they noticed an improvement in the HD7s' screen
"While the HD7 had an old-fashioned basic LCD that looks washed out by today's standards, the HD7S boasts a thoroughly modern Super LCD. It has better color saturation, wider viewing angles and looks as good as its Android cousin, the HTC EVO 4G."-MobileTechReview
@des8893 It definitely does have better color saturation. I think you can see that in the video. And the old HD7's colors do look a bit washed out in comparison, but I see a lot more color banding in the new HD7S's Super LCD. So... which do you like more? Better color or smooth gradients?
@IIIJFRIII While the 7 Pro's keyboard is certainly fantastic and the best hardware keyboard around, have you tried the software keyboard on Windows Phone 7? It's actually really good, and made me not even bother sliding out the hardware keyboards on the HTC 7 Pro or Dell Venue Pro that I've had.
@adamz1977 I hate the tilt 2, and they key board is just so amazing. love it, i have a hard time with the screen one becuase i have big shacky hands so the bottos help alot. I just want to 7 pro so much, windows 7 phones look so amazing, pluss the keyboard = a epic win for me.
You sound boring. Give us some expression. Make us believe you like what you do. Make us believe to are talking to us and not to the camera. Say shit and/or fuck a few times. At list we'll see you're not a dying old man forced to talk about some uninteresting shit.
@CrisRowlands I think the 7S is supposed to have more accurate colors, i.e. blacker blacks, but the old one definitely has better whites.. or so it appears.
@sanoonbs I think the older one is better at continuous tone images since color banding is much less noticable, but the newer one has much better color and saturation. In terms of hardware buttons, the HD7S is MUCH better, and we'll have camera quality comparisons soon.

@x1s0 That's a locked/stock T-Mobile HD7 with NoDo (and all updates installed). Nothing was done to it to enable 32bit color.
