@MyVoicenotSilenced Wicca is very big on personal responsibility. We feel that each person is responsible for their own actions, and justice is exacted via karmic retribution. We don't believe in an afterlife where we are forgiven for our "sins"-we believe that our actions and the consequences of those actions follow us, and we reap what we sow, for good or ill. I think it helps promote people to be more conscious of their effect on the world.
@MyVoicenotSilenced You're right, just because someone claims to be wiccan does not mean that they follow the laws. Wicca is intended as a very benign religion. It doesn't seek to hurt or change anyone who is unwilling. We don't go around converting people. But there are exceptions, a few people who go against these laws, as there are in any religion. Wiccans have very little tolerance for ppl who are "wiccan" in name only and not action. They tarnish our good name.

I don't think dark magic is bad to a degree. It is easy to take that conversation in the wrong direction though. Magic has such a bad reputation, and most people have difficulty even with non-magical human social skills to fix their problems. It is a good thing that most believe in the 3 fold law.
When I made that quote a number of months ago, it was directed to someone who had a number of unfair statements. One of them had to do with our use of spirits as if it were a degrading concept, for the spirits themselves or for us who may use them. When I work with energy I don't visualize it as working with spirits, but rather manipulating the flow of energy around me and inside me. Sometimes I ask for help from my deities, sometimes not. Not everyone does it like this.

That's not true. The idea of thirteen members in a coven comes from the Inquisition. Wicca is a modern religion dating back to the 40s. The idea of the god and goddess is Wiccan in origin.

Depictions of the Horned God were around quite some thousands of years before Christ and whole Christianity.
However, there aren't many really old depictions of the Devil, where he has horns. It's something Christianity made up after getting some influence in the Roman Empire to equalize the Horned God with the Devil.
Just look up some historc articles, cave paintings and canvas paintings and you should see.

@MyVoicenotSilenced You're right, just because someone claims to be wiccan does not mean that they follow the laws. Wicca is intended as a very benign religion. It doesn't seek to hurt or change anyone who is unwilling. We don't go around converting people. But there are exceptions, a few people who go against these laws, as there are in any religion. Wiccans have very little tolerance for ppl who are "wiccan" in name only and not action. They tarnish our good name.

First, let me say that I agree with the point you seem to be trying to make: Witchcraft is a tool that can be used, and IS used, for both good and evil. But for the record, anyone who uses witchcraft to cause harm is not a "wiccan" because they do not follow commonly accepted wiccan laws. They are still a witch, but not a wiccan.

I don't think dark magic is bad to a degree. It is easy to take that conversation in the wrong direction though. Magic has such a bad reputation, and most people have difficulty even with non-magical human social skills to fix their problems. It is a good thing that most believe in the 3 fold law.

When I made that quote a number of months ago, it was directed to someone who had a number of unfair statements. One of them had to do with our use of spirits as if it were a degrading concept, for the spirits themselves or for us who may use them. When I work with energy I don't visualize it as working with spirits, but rather manipulating the flow of energy around me and inside me. Sometimes I ask for help from my deities, sometimes not. Not everyone does it like this.

This is going to sound really offensive to the Christian religion but anyway, I have read the bible and the Christian God sounds like a jerk. Has anybody else noticed that or is it just me? Even if he exsists(not saying that I believe in him) his not a very nice higher being. The guys that wrote the Bible made their God a jackass; which is the reason I think I rebelled because it was to violent and you can tell it was made out of anger.

That's not true. The idea of thirteen members in a coven comes from the Inquisition. Wicca is a modern religion dating back to the 40s. The idea of the god and goddess is Wiccan in origin.

I know, it's fucked up, but the leader uses his true knowledge of the craft to deceive his followers into believing that they are in control of the craft. Depictions of the Horned God were around quite some thousands of years before Christ and whole Christianity.
However, there aren't many really old depictions of the Devil, where he has horns. It's something Christianity made up after getting some influence in the Roman Empire to equalize the Horned God with the Devil.
Just look up some historc articles, cave paintings and canvas paintings and you should see.

No, actually. If you read Gardner (the founder of Wica) then you will find that all of the Wica must practise a form of Witchcraft. They are called Modern Witches. "A Witch who can't curse, can't heal." Witchcraft is not ALWAYS about healing, it can be used maliciously just as anything else. Wica is a fertility religion, as you will find if you read Gardner's works.
