Sorry I didn't know this song when it came around December 2010. I just bumped to it this Christmas (2011)... But I am hooked to it now. And I know I'll listen to it even when its not Christmas.

Quite a lot of that footage was in the programme Our War on BBC three! How did the maker of that film get ahold of it when it wasn't released by the MoD until 2009 ?

I personally do not like the song and feel that in terms of its musical quality it is exactly the sort of song that the x factor would churn out! Lyrically it is different from an x factor single because the words seem to relate to many and are far more personal than many other pop songs.

I feel the song would have been better to simply address the sadness that we are at war and that many of the soldiers involved were not at home over Christmas. (As it does for the most part.) @bewfed james blunt hasnt been to afganistan though has he, the first part of this song was wrote before he went to afgan, the second half was during. he wrote it to keep the moral up during xmas.. and some people heard it and liked it, it wasnt ment to get this big. just listen and think

If you haven't already posted this to your facebook, twitter, whatever network site and get your friends, colleagues to buy it and ensure that all our service men and women who are not at home this Christmas know that the people are thinking and praying for them and that they have our support. I know there is a group who have recorded a single of 4 minutes of silence to ensure that the X Factor winner does not get to number 1 but this is greater than that. It's about showing our appreciation

what a great song and a fitting tribute to your pal guardsman janes, brought a tear to my eye. all you lads out there fighting for a reason that im not sure any of us no anymore, but your there and we,re proud of all of ya, ive shown my kids this song and told them why it means so much. were all thinking of all of you lot out there this christmas, come home safe and well. your a credit to your country.

Just remember that while you are probably in a relatively safe line of work, thiers isn't, if you dislike this song, try listening again, and interpret the lyrics properly, and listen to what they're about, and if you disagree with them, then your just obviously a heartless waste of skin :) Kthxbai.
