I'm not saying that they did everything that they could, but the 76ers did try to win. Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, Allen Iverson was a ball-dominator. The same thing goes for Lebron James (though AI was a little better at playing off of the ball). That doesn't leave much room for other offensive players. You have to build a team that's tailored to fit A.I (or James). That usually doesn't work (See Cavs). A.I's size also added complication. PG or SG?

James is a ball dominator..Dwyane Wade is a ball dominator and the fact is..when you put them on one team..you have a Heat team that choked away a title. I truly believe he would have learned to play off another star or a team surrounding him that is above average. Not however, when you try to pass of Keith Van Horn as help to win a title.

The Nuggets weren't built for or around Allen Iverson, so his Denver vs Philadelphia stats can be misleading. Still, he lasted over a decade in Philadelphia but less than 2 full seasons in Denver. I think that speaks (to a degree) to how much of a one-man-show he was, even on a good team. His high skill level, style of play and game made him a tough fit.

@vincentrich Ball dominating one-man-shows CAN work. Lebron James got to the conference semis a bunch of times and to the finals once..with a SHITTY TEAM. As long as you put him alongside another ball dominating superstar..IT WORKED...the Heat just decided to choke and drop a 15 point lead and their title along with that. You just have to surround the player with high energy players, above average defenders and a spot-up shooters. The Nuggets had a none of that and a George Karl.

High-energy players, decent defenders and shooters is EXACTLY what James had in Cleveland (and Miami). Now, you're just making excuses. Both of those teams were one-man show offenses. THAT is why they lost.
