  • His best score, and there were so many of them, was Chinatown. I knew him slightly, he was such a kind man, a quiet genius, gentle and kind, but demanding in the recording session, full of humor and always bursting with ideas.

  • @ddd1953, I never met Goldsmith but have learned a lot about him. It always struck me that Goldsmith's general lack of negative ego was what allowed that genius that is available to everyone to flow through him in the form of his music, which was often genuinely stunning to hear. Deeply missed but at least he had 50+ years to do what he loved and we still have his music.

  • now this is real music i can stand rap it just bugs me

  • Could not agree more! Everyone my age, or near it(15), thinks I am crazy. But you and I know the truth! ;)

  • So true! Most new music (modern classical, rap, hip hop, etc.) really just pisses me off. There's just no emotion, but here, there is such beauty and emotion. I'm 14, i don't think you're crazy...

  • @KingstonFallsTheatre. Welcome to the secretive world of film music fandom. A very true quote I remember was: "The only thing worse than admitting you listen to soundtrack music is admitting you own the Rambo scores!" It was meant tongue in cheek about how people back off as soon as they find out. There's a great history of incredibly varied and brilliant film music to explore. I started at age 11 and I'm still working through 100 years of film music.

  • Thank you for sharing this great score with us!
