Ed and Deans father was the same age as my father is now, so he would have been 71, even though my dad and I aren't close, I would still feel the pain of losing him as Ed has in this song, what an amazing emotional tribute to their father, brought tears to my eyes
such a beautiful dedication to Ed and Dean's father, it brought tears to my eyes especially at the end when they show their father, so sad to lose a loved one, hugs to you Ed and Dean
@The30todd It's just measmerizing to be able to take something from a musicians mind and put it down on paper and hear peoples reaction ,to the way it turned out ,as well as being very moved yourself!!!!!!!!!!
the Collective Soul Home DVD was recorded in 2006 right? Ed's father passed away in 2004, Ed is still very emotional, it breaks my heart.....we love you Ed and Dean
That was so sad! & Dean gave Ed a kiss on the head! I liked how Ed turned to watch the orchestra. How proud it must make him to see those kids playing his music & knowing he has inspired a future generation of musicians. Awesome!
I didn't know Ed's dad died and have only just seen this video, which is incredibly moving. I lost my dad when I was 13 and even now, as an adult, I still miss him and find it hard to even talk about to anyone. Ed did well to get through this song without breaking down. He did his dad proud, and I'm sure his dad must have been incredibly of him and his brother anyway with their incredible success.
@leicestergirl63 You can, at the very beginning , and at the very end of this song the love for his father , and both the confusion and the anger of knowing his father would no longer with be in this world together with he or the rest of his family...........May the good LORD above have mercy on his whole family , they certainly have the musical talent that GOD alone set to be music for heaven to hear....
and went over 1300 miles to see them in concert in canada was great show! I feel your loss Ed and Dean and send a message of hope and inspiration for you, they will live on through us.
i saw this concert this summer on hi def and became instantly hooked on these guys. lost my dad at 19 and this song means a lot to me, thanks collective soul, you amaze me
