  • that is good stuff. I was disappointed in my first cup and used good "fresh" roasted beans--just found it to be too weak. the grind was between coarse (press sized) to drip coarse.

  • Gotta rinse those filters first —also pre-heats the cup and the dripper.

  • Paper coffee filters delivers a small dose of dioxin, which over a year adds up to a big dose of dioxin. The french press is more of a clean up, but healthier and safer than paper filters. Paper filters also keep essential oils and flavonoids from reaching your coffee cup which substracts from the flavor.

  • @OpiumKoolaid that is keen chemistry from someone whose moniker has both "opium" and "koolaid" in it, both of which kilt Mr. Jerry Garcia. Poor fella. chinacat>rider>chinacat. I agree, the press is the way to go, but you strike me more as a vaccum pot type of person with all this chem talk.

  • cooooooooooooooool

  • Nice tips.

I got myself a Melitta single cup manual brewer and it is elegant simplicity. It just works and it's nowhere near as much of a hassle as setting up an automatic drip coffee maker or a french press if all I want is just one mug of coffee.
