  • Do the bites hurt? Gorgeous bird by the way!

  • @MrGekko1212 Na bite dont hurt it just feels like pressure

  • Are they legal in California? Do you need a special permit to have them?

  • @gmerah Not in California breeders actually live there

  • Nice video, we are excited to be buying a aracari from Jerry Jennings. Yours is really nice.

  • @Lanztoronto you made an excellant choice as he is the best

  • So they click? Do they at all?

  • @seanthamaster Na toucans do not talk they just make clicking sounds and frog like croaks

  • @toucanman90 Do they scream and screech like macaws do? If not, i'm getting one when i get older. Can't stand birds with ear piercing screeches =). Do they bite hard though?

  • @seanthamaster No their screams are not like Macaws at all, its frog like croaks, and clocks like a deck of cards being flickered, and creaking sounds like a squeaky door. They dont bite hard, you do feel pressure, they can break the skin if the serrations on the sides of the beak cut you, but other than that the bite isnt extreme

  • that. is so. COOL.

  • ohsweet! i live in long island too and i really want one of these! is it difficult to care for them?

  • @marcosis96 oh sweet man, yeah they arent to hard to take care of. Its just preparing the food thats the hardest. It has to be chopped to 3/8in cubes for them to comfortably swallow. If its too big they mush it up to make it small and make a mess. Other than that, just the general maintance, clean the cage, and spend time with him

  • Rocky is adorable :) I like his clicking sound; Pixie, our Swainson's, purrs when she is happy. What fantastic family members - if you're ready for the commitment of taking care and loving them!

  • @jenbacca Yeah they are worth it. I knew what I was getting into when Make-A-Wish got him for me, and the past four years have been awesome with him. He comes to fundraisers at my college all the time and really seems to love the attention

  • where do you buy them???

  • @VizorDragon Depends on where you live, I live just outside NYC and there are several exotic pet stores around us that sell toucans..most people buy directly from breeders Jerry Jennings of Emerald Forest Bird Gardens in San Diego, California is the best.

  • aw such a cute bird!

  • What size/type of cage do you have him in? I always was under the impression that you needed an enormous enclosure for one, but from what I can see your cage looks macaw sized. It gives me new hope of owning one :)

  • @marigilfoil They just need a cage they can hop back and forth in, enough to open and close their wings...the best option for the average person is either a large macaw cage like what I have (6ft tall, 4ft long, 3ft wide) or a finch aviary which is roughly the same size.

  • What does that clicking sound mean?

  • @JUanBOBO Its the happy sound

  • 0:14 gravity bird is amused.

  • @warofthewalruses You should see it in person when he jumps up and lands in the same spot

  • @toucanman90 sounds cool.

  • At night I would be scared a predator is in my house

  • it is obvious you have a great relationship with him. It's amazing how something (someone) like that can give you hope. All the best to you!

  • He's beautiful

  • Such a beautiful bird! Just read your story, and I'm so glad you were able to be granted a wish! The Make-A-Wish are fantastic, and they have given me a wish too! Such wonderful people!

  • When Toucans bite, does it hurt?

  • I Love Rocko, Hes a beautiful bird--- but lol! you need an updated video of him. :)

  • I thought toucans were illegal to have in houses......?

  • @gutairmike na their not, to date there is no permit required on Long Island

  • awesome bird :D

  • does he snip you? and since his beak is so big won't your fingers get chopped off and all bloody??? I have a senegal parrot and even his beak makes huge punctures in my fingers and my fingers bleeds everwhere!

  • @xoxofashiondiva Toucans don't have razor sharp bills like parrots. But they can stab at things.

  • @Chirostenotes I WANT ONE!

  • @xoxofashiondiva I dont blame u their amazing animals

  • @Chirostenotes They can yes, they do have serrations on the sides of their bill to cut fruit

  • @toucanman90 Yes, I know they have those serrations. But apparently the bite doesn't hurt (according to you).

  • @xoxofashiondiva the beak is actually hollow, and doesnt have that much pressure he cant even crush a grape

  • Please make more Rocco videos!!!

  • @SoAsianTv In time I promise

  • Does it hurt when he bites?

  • @SAbujbarah A toucan has a VERY weak bite. They don't have any force at all with their beak.

  • @TheMuffinBurgler nope not at all

  • @SAbujbarah Nope

  • Lucky! He's so cute! 8D

I really love toucans! Someday I want a curl crested aracari (Someday being when I can scrape enough cash together, they really are expensive)

I saw your story on the EmeraldForest website and I can relate.

I just finished 9 months of chemo for burkitt's lymphoma (non-hodgkins) last year when I was 16 as well and my wish was to go to washington DC. I go next month! =)

It never really occured to me to ask them for a toucan. I think I missed a good oppertunity there.

  • @Skyeflyte No you didnt miss an opportunity to wish for something...a curl crested aracari is one of my dream toucans, and congradulations on your trip.

  • grr no fair >.< i want a toucan really bad. where do you get them?

  • @Aurux40215 Breeders...Jerry Jennings is a breeder I highly recommend

  • I thought it was illegal to keep toucans as pets.

  • @mermaidamp

It isn't. Maybe in some cities or municipalities with very strict exotic pet laws, but mostly it's not any legally different from having a parrot or other exotic bird. Some subspecies might be endangered, and therefore illegal to own, but the ones you would normally see as pets like the toco and keel bill are not.

  • Did U name that toucan after Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life?

  • are these birds friendly when you first get them.

  • That's so cute he must really love you:)

    I have a dog named Rocco ^.^

  • Where can I find one female toco toucan please ?????

    mylonakis1@hotmail.gr

    From Greece.

    Thank you .

  • 0:12 rocko floats!

  • toucanopia

  • That bird is awesome mate, thanks for posting

  • where can i get a keel billed toucan and how much would be the cost

  • website called Toucanopia com has them for sale

  • I own a B&G and Goffins and they have a mean bite. How hard can this guy bite?

  • awww so cutee!!!!! :3 you must be so happy to have this wonderful animal!

was told you how much it cost?

  • that bird should have a better cage.

  • I'm sure he doesn't love you, he should live in freedom and in nature.

  • @stempel2000 At this point, the bird would probably die if it was in the wild. And to say how the animal feels about its caretaker without actually knowing them in person is QUITE an assumption to make. If people thought the same about wolves so long ago (granted the humans of that time did not live on such morals), we would not have the domesticated dogs we know and love today. Also, if you're not already familiar with "Christian the Lion" go watch it and say that cat didn't love those men.

  • Awwww, he's so cute!

  • What does it mean when he makes that machine gun purring noise? Lol

  • Toco toucans are awesome! We have a couple in dallas were I work at? Amazing bird!

  • look man i no you probably love that bird but dont understand how you could keep a bird in a cage . also one that looks as good as that

  • i want one

  • i was in tortueguero national park in costa rica they said that if

you keep keel billed toucan in a cage they lose their beak color. does that happen to toco toucan after 3 years in a cage/

  • why did you remove lovetakers comment? believe me she IS your biggest youtube fan! she subbed and everything!

  • I dnt remember removing it, this is a shared youtube account, and I dont hav control over what is done unfortunately

  • he seems so gentle

  • Comment removed

  • My favourite birds. You're so lucky to own one. He's adorbable...

  • Mine, too! Aren't their beaks so colorful. Are they really pets meaning domesticated?

  • not exactly, he was raised by humans, and knows to love and trust us

  • Really? Are you telling the truth or a lie? You're saying that Rocko is domesticated.

  • lets not go that far, doestication is a long term process for a specie, and takes hundreds of years of breeding.

Rocko is technically a tame hand reared toucan. He is still also technically a wild animal, but because he was raised by humans, he knows to love and trust humans, while at the same time he is able to interact with other birds

  • @toucanman90 Actually it doesn't have to take that long. Silver foxes were domesticated in 40-50 years in Russia. Not sure how fast toucans can breed though. :P

  • im moving to japan when i grow up so i have my eyes on a toucan

  • i am so happy for you all i wish is the best 4 you =] and your a great friend.

  • Tucan birds r really expensive

  • it really depends on the type

  • @toucanman90 i have a question:how much will a keel-billed toucan cost?and is it endangered?also is the toco toucan endangered and how much does it cost?

  • @mitsospower12 Keel billed toucans are between $3,500, and $5,000 depending on the breeder..Jerry Jennings where I got my toucan I recommend him highly. Keel billeds as far as I know are not endangered, and neither is the toco, and toco toucans run between $8,000 and $12,000

  • @SLIPKNOTFREA expensive man i live in peru..south american i can get a tucan for 200$

  • how much are the cages?

  • cage was $800

  • they have to have giant cages to fit their giant beaks lol

  • He's beautiful!

  • Do you keep him in his cage all the time?

  • Toucans are the kewlest birds on the planet...

  • :] i love it's eyes

  • 10,000????

  • do they need friends and are the beaks like soft ?

  • there not soft its just because the beaks are so big that it doesnt have as much force as lets say a parrot a parrrot or macaw could take off your finger but tucans cant because ot is so big

  • how awesome! does it hurt when he bites you?

  • He sounds like a taser

  • how big is the cage you have for him? i am thinking of getting one. but i need to know a estimate on how big the cage is.

  • The regulations for keeping these animals varies from state to state, most states' regulations is that they should be able to spread their wings and their tail or wings shouldn't touch the cage. I can message you on how to care for a toucan, I'm an apprentance of my uncle in caring for exotics, and I know all there is to caring for toucans.

  • ok thsnks i will!. quick question though. how much dose a toco toucan cost any how?

  • He was $10,000

  • holy god! every were else says they go for atleast $1500 to atleast 5000. and they all pointed to emerald forest.

  • Does he drink guinness?

  • lol

  • Sometimes it can

  • wait wait... i was on emerald forest's web site the other day cuz i really want a toco. i read a certain touching story about a guy named joe with a toco named rocko. same cage same bird this has to be joe?

  • it is the sam guy. watch his earlyer videos. it is the one and the same joe! i still gotta say. you are a lucky guy to have that bird. i actualy have been wanting one since i was about 9 years old. i just found out you can get on as a pet tonight! so its time to start saving!

  • try emerald forest birds thats where mine came from

  • do they make good pets? how well does your toucan "connect" with you? like can you hold it and does it make a good companion?

  • Yes this is the Joe on Emerald Forest list

  • Cool and cute bird never knew you can have them as pets

  • Oh my gosh, he's so adorable! I'd love to get a toucan someday, whenever I can afford it. They're my favorite animal. How much did this little guy cost?

  • lol, that's so cool, i'd be afraid he'd like bite my fingers off :P

  • Awesome Toucan! Where did you get yours? Breeder or Store?

  • We got him from a breeder in california

  • well toucanman....consider yourself quite lucky to own a pet as exotic and unique as that one.

I have a question though....because toucans live basically on a fruit diet (low iron), what does the poop look like? I'm being completely serious. Is it really messy? is it easy to clean up? does it go straight down, or fly all over the place?

  • Its very liquid like, it is kindamessy but a sponge just cleans it up. Yes it drops just straight down =) but occassionally it does land somewhere else =( but for the most part is not bad I dont like cleaning it up tho lol

  • by any chance did u get yours from emerald forest bird gardens...im thinking of getting a toucan from there?

  • Interesting, I didn't know that many OTHER people knew about Emerald Forest...

  • haha yea, im a bit of an obsessive bird person:D I've seen their ads quite a bit in bird talk mags, and I've checked out their website. They have a pretty cool facility
