This is my favorite song of all time. My earliest recollection of this piece was done by Donnie Hathaway (Lalah Hathaway's father). Regina Belle did a beautiful rendition of this song blending "Save The Children/Someday We'll All be Free" around the mid 1980s. Alicia's intro in the song is my favorite when she performs it. Absolutely correct. Alicia is only as good as the songs she has "plagiarised". She is nowhere near as original as the likes of James Brown, Eddie Kendricks, Curtis Mayfield or any of the great artists that have gone before her - and that's just the men. I've heard DH a million times and I do understand the reverence with which you hold him. I grew up in the 60's/70's and rmember him well and this song in particular has special meaning to me. His greatness however is not deminished by her attempt to honor him wiht her tribute. I think she deserves credit for having a connect to her musical heritage. So, I'm not saying don't knock her but remember that's more of a reflection of you than her. Mean it when you say P-E-A-C-E
