@chauhpham Power Girl was an alternate reality (earth 2) of Super Girl who decided not to follow in super man's footsteps (hence the costume) difference, after that when they merged all the earths shit gets foogy, they lost me after that.
@zuki1899 heh, I agree that it is hard to take... Slayer is an aquired taste... however, they do have a degree of sophistication that anyone can appreciate if you get passed the obvious and deliberate ugliness. Metal has always tried to deep-six corporate consumer pop culture yet maintain it's ability to call itself music. The sad truth is that metal (and all other forms of harcore/underground music) is the leading edge of culture. Literally today's hardcore will be tomorrows pop, remember that.
I nominate Katee Sackhoff to play Power Girl in some hypothetical movie that wouldn't make any money. Any excuse to see her in barely there underwear is a good excuse.
Oh Yeah! I love all those curves the artists put on the both the villainesses and the heroines. Curves on the female gender represent fertility, and make men aware of the power that women have over men. I have literally felt weak in the knees over the voluptuous type. In a sense, women really do have us by the balls
@imkluu And the guy who made this JUST HAD to borrow that SUPID super-close-up technique from MTV and make 3/4 of the pictures NOT EVEN WORTH LOOKING AT.

I like Power Girl just as she is , a Sex symbol in mainstream comics, basically, for complex female characters, i have the Sandman female characters, Tulip from preacher, the gals from Alan Moore s Top ten, variety: If you think a bit DC has nt done that much with Wonder Woman, she could be put in the Category of just boobs too.
she is prolly DC's most overly sexualized hero, i mean come on, many, many comic lines overly sexualize their babes, I mean Lara Croft is like the poster girl for larger than life-ness, but power girl is literally just a pair of boobs, every hero and villian is always commenting on them or joking about them or hitting on her LOL, dont get me wrong, sexiness in comics is fun, but DC really should try and ground power girl a lil bit more
LOL no, i meant ground her as making her a "real person" a "real hero" ground her by making her more than just a really big pair of boobs in a semi bra-like white outfit. LOL, I LOVE her character, her strength, but i think they should ground her by giving her a good friends, family base and lean less on Powergirl just being DC's Big BOObs girl. I want her to be more and the giving her a more grounded alter ego is a start right? sure she does have DCs biggest rack, but style is nice :)
You obviously haven't been reading JSA of her own series for the past ten years. She has an "alter ego" : Karen Starr. No, she hasn't used the id for awhile, but it is back in her own series.
Plus, she kicks ass as the JSA's chairperson.
Yes, they still have fun with her figure, but she's not JUST "boob girl". People who say that are not paying attention.
She's been put through the ringer and has come out better than ever. She deserves more credit as a character.
oh no, i fully agree that they are trying to ground her again with more use of her alter ego and the new series. I think the new series is defiently going in the right direction to make her more than just a pair of boobs. I was merely saying that they certainly have their work cut out for them as she had become really exageratted as a female BABE and not a superhero, i mean she has power on par with superman, she's a heavy hitter in the DC universe and i look forward to her being treated as one

Graphic novels & science fiction are the modern equivalent of ancient mythology, arheologists are going to find these things in 1, 2,000 years, & think they're some kind of scriptures..... maybe ?
Actually, I Googled "galaxina" in the image search. Also, I prefer the description of comics as modern folk tales, since every(sane)one knows superheroes aren't real, and we don't worship them. We're fully aware of thye fact that the characters are made up and have no (physical) influence on the real world (although they do have a huge socio-ecomic impact).
I think " modern folk tales " makes more sense, too, because we don't sacrifice animals to Superman,or have altars with images of the Fantastic Four, etc.
The characters are more like Homer, Orpheus, King Arthur, Galahad & Co. than Hercules or Poseidon, Zeus, Thor, yadda - yadda.
I know. I like her in her early late 20s/30s. I makes her younger than Superman, but older than Supergirl (and characters that should definately be younger--like Nightwing and Arsenal/Red Arrow). Yes: I know he's never called"Arsenal" anymore.
yeah, she was meant to be the same age as Supes, but her escape pod got trapped on asteroid while she was in suspended animation, & she got stuck with a biological age of 20 - something.
Or am I getting her backstory mixed up w / Supergirl's ?
This has been the story of every (comics) version of Supergirl, Earth-2 being no exception. Which makes sense, since the only alternastive would be to believe that Jor- and Zor- El (it always bothered me that their names rhymed), who are within 5 years of each other in age ( by all appearances; I don't have any numbers), had their kids 10 or 20 years apart (which is impossible, since neither looked over 35).
Actually I thought that she was meant to be biologically OLDER than Superman, so she could be his " mentor " when he arrived on Earth. Some comics & science fiction aren't exactly bothered with continuity, even the classics.
Nowadays, I know she is/was, but I'm not 100% on 30 years ago. Not to mention the problems with the assumption they'd land together. Case in point: In modern continuity, Kara landed in Gotham City, which is in NY or NJ depending on the comic. In every continuity (save a few Elseworlds tales), Superman landed in Smallville, which is in Kansas. Since Kal-El looks human, the two would never have found each other if things had gone as planned (well, not until Kal became Superman, at least).
That was a leap of faith or overconfidence assuming that they'd land together or even SURVIVE the rigors of space.
I read a marginally good fanfic where the crew of the DS9 station finds a tiny capsule w / the symbol of the House of El - & a small skeleton inside. It could've just as easily happened, acc'ding to the laws of chance, to Kal or Kara.
Editor of the comic or the video? What's DS9? Star Trek: Deep Space 9? On the overconfidence issue...they say outer space is Kal's best hope...not a sure thing. He was definately dead on Kr. I think Kal would've fit on Kara's ship. No possibility of being separated, and both would've had her head start on the whole "sunlight panels" thing.
I was referring to Star Trek DS9, in a fanfic story one of the runabouts retrieves part of a Kryptonian space craft w / the bones of a Kryptonian child in it, it's kind of sad.
They could've just sent them off together, they would've survived, I'm assuming, been raised on Earth, etc.
Then again, the age difference can make things more interesting.
& what's with Kara's temper ? I've heard she has had some " anger managment " problems. Just throwing it out there, apropos of nothing.
There would have been an age difference anyway. Kara (at least nowadays) was eight when Superman was 18 months (at the oldest). I would love to see an Elseworlds tale where things go as planned, and the two fall into the desert together, rather than to Earth. Or maybe Antarctica, someplace where there wouldn't be any human influence. Kara would be a "surrogate mother" of sorts to Kal, and the story would expand from there.
Interesting.... Mama or Aunt Kara. I wonder how they would've developed without Terran human influence, just maybe computers teaching them using a virtual environment.'
Or, maybe it's something like in Superman: the Movie, where 1 or both of their fathers talk to the during their "flight" to Earth. On the whole "develped w/o Terrean influence" thing...Kara was old enough to have developed some of Krypton's culture and attitudes (of course, she still would have been between 8 and 11, with the maturity of an 8-year-old). What WERE they thinking, sending them off like that? If I recall, Lara refused to leave her husband. Now, I'm thinking she should have!
They had a " What If ? " comic, where Jor - El left Krypton w / young Kal ( Lara had died years earlier ) & they set up lives on Earth. What if the entire house of El had made an exodus from Krypton ? There would have arisen something like the Marvel Family ( Captain, Mary, Uncle, etc. ). BTW, in this comic, back in the dear ol' 70's, Jor - El was insane, & one of his experiments was responsible for Krypton's destruction. Not DC canon, hence the " What If ", but interesting.
Definitely. I enjoyed Red Son (in fact, it's one of my favorite Superman comics). I have no idea how things would've gone if the entire House of El had left! Be an interesting story...
Actually, the only comics I read now are the big, honkin' huge anthology ones ( The Dark Knight Returns, The Death of Superman one, Crisis on Infinite Earths )
The house of El might have all gone the route of Kal & Kara & been heroes like the Marvel Family, or some of them might have fallen in with Luthor, some might be heroes, & some might just be slackers or something. An interesting little idea. Copyrightable, you think ?
Maybe I'd better lay claim to the idea before they do !!
I already lost part of the credit for HichHiker's Guide to the Galaxy - & if you believe that, I've got the DEFINITIVE recipe for a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster !!
( I keep it in the aquarium w / my Babel Fish !! )
the big breasts are part of her look (just like mario always has his mustache and superman is always tall and bulked.) but yes i do agree she can be more then that.
That's just how the artist drew her, Powergirl is the Earth 2 version of Supergirl, presumably they are all older in that dimension, but Powergirl is definetly older than her Earth 1 counterpart so presumably as the 16 year-old Supergirl grows up, her boobs will get bigger.
The Earth Two heroes are 20 years ahead of their Earth One counterparts. Earth Two is the Golden Age heroes (1938-1956), and Earth One is the silver Age Heroes (1957-1969). 1957 being when the two first meet.
Powergirl IS Supergirl--just from a parallel dimension. As I said above, the Golden Age heroes (in PG's dimension) are 20 years ahead of the "current" or "modern" heroes. For some reason, however, Power Girl landed at the same time as Kara (the first time, obviously--not the current Kara that's appeared). Since Earth-2 Supes is 2 decades ahead of Earth-1 Supes, E2S was in his 50s, not his 30s, when PG arrived.
Because of that, he had the common sense to give her her own ID. When DC redefined all its charcters in the 1980s, PG wasn't eliminated (like most E2 characters were), and she wasn't thrown into a "pocket universe" (like the E2 Superman, the good Lex Luthor--don't ask--and the E2 Lois Lane were...among others). For some reason, DC decided to leave her completely intact (which made her history technically impossible, for a number of reasons). They've given her a new history since, though.
i think marvel gilrls are better

I was referring to Star Trek DS9, in a fanfic story one of the runabouts retrieves part of a Kryptonian space craft w / the bones of a Kryptonian child in it, it's kind of sad.
They could've just sent them off together, they would've survived, I'm assuming, been raised on Earth, etc.
Then again, the age difference can make things more interesting.
& what's with Kara's temper ? I've heard she has had some " anger managment " problems. Just throwing it out there, apropos of nothing.
knoxvilleguy2 2 years ago
There would have been an age difference anyway. Kara (at least nowadays) was eight when Superman was 18 months (at the oldest). I would love to see an Elseworlds tale where things go as planned, and the two fall into the desert together, rather than to Earth. Or maybe Antarctica, someplace where there wouldn't be any human influence. Kara would be a "surrogate mother" of sorts to Kal, and the story would expand from there.
batfan1939 2 years ago
Interesting.... Mama or Aunt Kara. I wonder how they would've developed without Terran human influence, just maybe computers teaching them using a virtual environment.'
knoxvilleguy2 2 years ago
Or, maybe it's something like in Superman: the Movie, where 1 or both of their fathers talk to the during their "flight" to Earth. On the whole "develped w/o Terrean influence" thing...Kara was old enough to have developed some of Krypton's culture and attitudes (of course, she still would have been between 8 and 11, with the maturity of an 8-year-old). What WERE they thinking, sending them off like that? If I recall, Lara refused to leave her husband. Now, I'm thinking she should have!
batfan1939 2 years ago
They had a " What If ? " comic, where Jor - El left Krypton w / young Kal ( Lara had died years earlier ) & they set up lives on Earth. What if the entire house of El had made an exodus from Krypton ? There would have arisen something like the Marvel Family ( Captain, Mary, Uncle, etc. ). BTW, in this comic, back in the dear ol' 70's, Jor - El was insane, & one of his experiments was responsible for Krypton's destruction. Not DC canon, hence the " What If ", but interesting.
knoxvilleguy2 2 years ago
Definitely. I enjoyed Red Son (in fact, it's one of my favorite Superman comics). I have no idea how things would've gone if the entire House of El had left! Be an interesting story...
batfan1939 2 years ago
Actually, the only comics I read now are the big, honkin' huge anthology ones ( The Dark Knight Returns, The Death of Superman one, Crisis on Infinite Earths )
The house of El might have all gone the route of Kal & Kara & been heroes like the Marvel Family, or some of them might have fallen in with Luthor, some might be heroes, & some might just be slackers or something. An interesting little idea. Copyrightable, you think ?
knoxvilleguy2 2 years ago
DC sure does.
batfan1939 2 years ago
DC sure does what ? I lost my train of thought.....
knoxvilleguy2 2 years ago
DC Sure does think it's "copyrightable".
batfan1939 2 years ago
Maybe I'd better lay claim to the idea before they do !!
I already lost part of the credit for HichHiker's Guide to the Galaxy - & if you believe that, I've got the DEFINITIVE recipe for a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster !!
( I keep it in the aquarium w / my Babel Fish !! )

AND, as to PG, they're trying to keep her a fully 3 dimensional character, & not just a flying pair of DD + cups with super powers.
Big - breasted girls are popular in anime, PG would have WORSHIPPERS in Japan. ( Or Japan / Korea / Philippines )

Like the Not-So-Terrible Toyman? ;-)

Whatever Woiks !!

the big breasts are part of her look (just like mario always has his mustache and superman is always tall and bulked.) but yes i do agree she can be more then that.

@barqueWorks
Believe me, I know that - If they keep getting any bigger, she's not going to be able to fly, at least not as high...... !!!!
They've been working on her personality as much as her Double D's.

Power girl kinda looks like the supergirl clone on Justice league.
batmanlooksgood 2 years ago
That is because they based the Supergirl clone on Powergirl. At least in looks. She's a good guy in the comics.
Although there were times when she was portrayed almost as bitchy as Galatea.

She's older than Supergirl.
FujiCahn 2 years ago
That's just how the artist drew her, Powergirl is the Earth 2 version of Supergirl, presumably they are all older in that dimension, but Powergirl is definetly older than her Earth 1 counterpart so presumably as the 16 year-old Supergirl grows up, her boobs will get bigger.

thank for the heads up
gm239 2 years ago
The Earth Two heroes are 20 years ahead of their Earth One counterparts. Earth Two is the Golden Age heroes (1938-1956), and Earth One is the silver Age Heroes (1957-1969). 1957 being when the two first meet.
batfan1939 2 years ago
Galatea was based on Powergirl, just like Powergirl is based somewhat on Supergirl.
ACE0HUNTER 2 years ago
Powergirl IS Supergirl--just from a parallel dimension. As I said above, the Golden Age heroes (in PG's dimension) are 20 years ahead of the "current" or "modern" heroes. For some reason, however, Power Girl landed at the same time as Kara (the first time, obviously--not the current Kara that's appeared). Since Earth-2 Supes is 2 decades ahead of Earth-1 Supes, E2S was in his 50s, not his 30s, when PG arrived.
batfan1939 2 years ago
Because of that, he had the common sense to give her her own ID. When DC redefined all its charcters in the 1980s, PG wasn't eliminated (like most E2 characters were), and she wasn't thrown into a "pocket universe" (like the E2 Superman, the good Lex Luthor--don't ask--and the E2 Lois Lane were...among others). For some reason, DC decided to leave her completely intact (which made her history technically impossible, for a number of reasons). They've given her a new history since, though.
batfan1939 2 years ago
Even her action figures are super sexy.
360whiplash 2 years ago
Very nice. She is kick ass obviously. I like how they don't tone her strong look down just cause she has huge boobs.
