Shattered memories is what made me rethink a second chance, it was good, not sh2 good but honestly it seems fans these days think that if no sh can achieve as great a deal as sh2 then its not worth playing, still because of shattered memories I'm putting my last hopes in downpour which, by knowing the ost is no longer being done by the original team, are getting pretty slim indeed.
the game looks way better in the earlier stadium, also the ideas and story were better. He talked about that they wanted to based the story on sh2 and you could throw monsters from windows.
This game is awesome...1 and HOMECOMING are the best. I LOVE SILENT HILL...so much I'm about to move there. But wait... from 0:01 till 0:26 the game looks diferent. This is not the real final look of the game. WHY? Guess its early videos of the game, while in final stages for releasing, right?
@telecalcu Homecoming and 4 were fine deep titles not as good as the others overall but still good dont cry because its different. Staying completely the same wouldve degraded the series over time also.
I really liked it, and think half of you are just wrapped up in "they changed it" bullshit. The game played very well and had a better story than the last 3 games (besides Origins). All i hear is "they should send it back to Japan to make it like it was" - what? clunky and even slooooower? You people are retarded. Get with the times, Silent Hill 5 took the right direction, it's just breaking nostalgia for you by having tight controls. As for scares, like you never jumped at a well hidden schism.
The game was shit... Japanese creators in SH 1,2,3 and 4 did extremely well. But American creaters have spoiled the whole image of silent hill franchise. I am a big fan of silent hill but next time will think of buying it after all this crap. Previous silent hill games made you feel the whole thing as if you are yourself emotionally inside the game. Only best part of SH5 is that the music is from akira other than that its not even worth talking about...
@vaqar001 They tried too hard to redefine silent hill, the biggest flaw(aside the embarrasing movie influenced or even plainly imposed references that strip homecoming of any credibility) was replacing the silent hill feeling of unease with this jump-scare scheme we can experience in so many other wanabe-horror game titles, homecoming shames the series, origins improved but the developing team still lacked that feeling and so they resorted to unecessary story plotholes...
i didnt mean that, i meant that cuz its not as silent in alot fo areas in SH2 and 3 u could walk down a hallway and only hear your footsteps and in this game there is always some kind of noise, while i dont mind it and stuff, but having those moments of complete silence rly add tension
man i wish SH 5 would add an double leg takedown move. that would be so sick. can you guys imagine it taking down your monster with an double leg take down. then into an arm bar.
the reviews were between 6.5 and 8.5 the people who reviewed this had different opinions about the whole experience u should read the 1up review they had a good review.
There seems to be a lot of focus on the action. But at the same time, the developers promised it would be more like silent hill 2 than the others. Which means less action! I hope that they focus on that type of fear and try to not throw in a lot of monsters. But at the same time, the few batles that do occur should be intensive and scary. What I hated with all SH games was that the combat system SUCKED. The game was good otherwise, but everytime a monster showed up the suspense died.
i'am afraid of the game, not in the scared sens, but in the gameplay, i fear they will do the same as the RE producers done, with the RE 4 and RE 5, it will be turned completely for action instead than enigm stuff, they will destroy SH if they do that, just like they done with RE, and the movie compared to the game is booring, but still good for a new to the series..RE movie s** hard
i don't hate it, but it is true that they turn completely in action... where is the frustration of forgetting a fckin key on the other edge of the map for opening a door, and you understand that it will be hard, cuz you don't have that much of ammo... that is what i'am scared of, i know the gameplay is better, but, i don't remember that camera function when i played the first RE...whatever, i hope what you say is true, SH won't be like that
The helpnesses you felt during the first games is ruined by to much focus on combat. Your ability to deffend yourself was that limited since the caracters where regular people like most of us and had never fired a weapon, or been in any close combat situation before. The camera angles in the old games was perfected to create the most creepy scenes possible. They have possibillites now they didn't have but it was actually limitations in the graphis that created essential features such as the fog.
i was mega pissed of that they changed the main charecter to a woman, the story was about harry mason not some blonde floozy i boycoted the movie cause of this and im sure a lot of others done the same thing

Quite the opposite, furyplum44. They changed his gender because, apparently, him protecting his child was deemed more of a "woman" thing to do. That doesn't seem very politically correct to me.
SH5 doesn't even look like a SH game. I don't know why, but this doesn't give me the real Silent Hill feeling. The camera doesn't move like in the other games, the fog is not a real fog, the game now looks more like RE, which is not a bad thing, but it doesn't have that special flavour that the early games had. I'm not looking forward too much for this title.
More recent videos of the game look a lot better than this, especially the "attract mode" which should be on youtube already. Even has a new song with vocals.
Yea its actually 6th game in the series(at least what i know :D) but its 5th game in the story. SH origins is something like 0th game in the story. Thats why most ppl like SH 5 better.
Damn, I think that the reason they changed the game a lot was because they were looking at Silent Hill as a video game and sort of disregarded the fact that the japanese went for plot and tragedy. 'The controls sucks' or 'camera angles are bad' were what I heard in the interviews, but the handicap adds to the horror. It might just be me, I mean it could be an awesome game. Can't wait for it to get out!
GOD WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED WITH FOG?! Remember times of SH1, when the fog... was a real fog? When you could see only about 5 meters? That was the real Silent Hill fog, this one's a shit!

Yes, this is what i`ve been waiting for. And i know thow day would come.. They have based the game mostly from SH 1 and not the movie that somone is telling :S .. The movie is based on SH 1 .. anyway, this game looks promosing and is gaing to be waaaaaay better than SH 4 (SH 4 is the worst SH game that i have played) and since i`ve got all the games and is just waiting on this one i hope that they take some ideas from SH 1 that im 95% sure of.
from best to least....not from most scary to least scary....however I found SH3 scarier than other series....with its improved graphics and (environmantel) transformations.....also I played that game first...so may be that's why I like it the most....

The order has nothing to say at all. They made the movie after SH 1 becouse the "director" found that much better... Thats all.. nothing else.. and btw, there might not be any more SH movies for a gooood while..

They were gonna make the movie with storyline of SH 2, but they wanted a woman to take the role of main character and it would be strange if she got an letter from her wife cause she would have to be a lesbian :D .
SH 2 movie is gonna be released in 2009... I guess, cause i read it somewhere. And its gonna have the storyline if SH2.

who cares about the checkpoints, its tiny little words that come on screen when u reach a point its not going to turn all the monsters into pink little bunnies or anything. footage is old too so hopefully they take it out but come on have some hope, origins wasnt too bad and that was a different team
Origins was good for a different team. I enjoyed it. But it was lacking a lot.
But come on! Combos in a Silent Hill game? COMBOS!? Silent Hill is one of those rare games that actually mean "survival horror game". Survival! Combos and checkpoints will ruin the feel. "Oh look I died. No worry, had a checkpoint, gonna try again". It used to be "Shit I died! Dammit now I have to go through those damn rooms again! DAMN!"
good point but u have to see it from the developers eyes, they cant simply just take the same exact game , they have to add something new to it and their response to many people's complaints of the past games gameplay was addressed with this new fighting system, and hopefully it works, although the checkpoint is unneccesary. the main thing i wud worry about is the story, i have this feeling they are using jacob's ladder influence even more this time around....
i just hope they take out that breaking weapon thing, i hated that feature in origins! :P

I do like that fact that the camera is closer outdoors, but I don't like the fact that it stays fixed behind you. It's not stylish like the other games.

Hmm,I would probably say the two best game of Silent Hill is: 2 and 3.But 4=9.2 Because I didnt really like the story lines much,I know theyre great but,everytime you complete an area,it wil come back again. 1=8.9 coz its old.Forgive me what I said,I hope I didnt hurt your feelings =]
The only thing I am not excited about is the hammer-head shark enemy and the very industrial look of the "otherworld".
Silent hill is best in its rusty and dark form, with plenty of desolate fog :)
Hammerhead people chasing you down a steam-room corridor is not scary to me. Exploring a school.. now thats scary because it has a connection with you.
Everyone is freaked out by desolate hositals etc.
But enemies busting through doors after you - looking forward to that!

SH5 doesn't even look like a SH game. I don't know why, but this doesn't give me the real Silent Hill feeling. The camera doesn't move like in the other games, the fog is not a real fog, the game now looks more like RE, which is not a bad thing, but it doesn't have that special flavour that the early games had. I'm not looking forward too much for this title.

More recent videos of the game look a lot better than this, especially the "attract mode" which should be on youtube already. Even has a new song with vocals.

Yea its actually 6th game in the series(at least what i know :D) but its 5th game in the story. SH origins is something like 0th game in the story. Thats why most ppl like SH 5 better.

Damn, I think that the reason they changed the game a lot was because they were looking at Silent Hill as a video game and sort of disregarded the fact that the japanese went for plot and tragedy. 'The controls sucks' or 'camera angles are bad' were what I heard in the interviews, but the handicap adds to the horror. It might just be me, I mean it could be an awesome game. Can't wait for it to get out!

GOD WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED WITH FOG?! Remember times of SH1, when the fog... was a real fog? When you could see only about 5 meters? That was the real Silent Hill fog, this one's a shit!

Yes, this is what i`ve been waiting for. And i know thow day would come.. They have based the game mostly from SH 1 and not the movie that somone is telling :S .. The movie is based on SH 1 .. anyway, this game looks promosing and is gaing to be waaaaaay better than SH 4 (SH 4 is the worst SH game that i have played) and since i`ve got all the games and is just waiting on this one i hope that they take some ideas from SH 1 that im 95% sure of.

They were gonna make the movie with storyline of SH 2, but they wanted a woman to take the role of main character and it would be strange if she got an letter from her wife cause she would have to be a lesbian :D .
SH 2 movie is gonna be released in 2009... I guess, cause i read it somewhere. And its gonna have the storyline if SH2.

who cares about the checkpoints, its tiny little words that come on screen when u reach a point its not going to turn all the monsters into pink little bunnies or anything. footage is old too so hopefully they take it out but come on have some hope, origins wasnt too bad and that was a different team

Origins was good for a different team. I enjoyed it. But it was lacking a lot.
But come on! Combos in a Silent Hill game? COMBOS!? Silent Hill is one of those rare games that actually mean "survival horror game". Survival! Combos and checkpoints will ruin the feel. "Oh look I died. No worry, had a checkpoint, gonna try again". It used to be "Shit I died! Dammit now I have to go through those damn rooms again! DAMN!"

good point but u have to see it from the developers eyes, they cant simply just take the same exact game , they have to add something new to it and their response to many people's complaints of the past games gameplay was addressed with this new fighting system, and hopefully it works, although the checkpoint is unneccesary. the main thing i wud worry about is the story, i have this feeling they are using jacob's ladder influence even more this time around....

haha i liek the creepiness, its just the multiple mosters running at you, thats where i dont liek it, i like it when they are more like silent hill 2 where you hear them and then as you look around they are just creepily moving and twitching then they attack you. the creepy factor is better to me then the surpirse attack factor!!!

I do like that fact that the camera is closer outdoors, but I don't like the fact that it stays fixed behind you. It's not stylish like the other games.
The town ain't foggy enough. It's not dark enough inside.

I will tell you what is happaning with the new silent hilll 5 what is soposed to happan is their planing on having a secondary character from what I have seen is she has blond short hair and green eyes their sending it to a new company and they are giding them thogh the game and music and keeping their name on the thingy oh another thing is like resedent evel five you can hit anything around you and it will breake the funny thing is I am 13 yet I know all this hehe

Hmm,I would probably say the two best game of Silent Hill is: 2 and 3.But 4=9.2 Because I didnt really like the story lines much,I know theyre great but,everytime you complete an area,it wil come back again. 1=8.9 coz its old.Forgive me what I said,I hope I didnt hurt your feelings =]

The only thing I am not excited about is the hammer-head shark enemy and the very industrial look of the "otherworld".
Silent hill is best in its rusty and dark form, with plenty of desolate fog :)
Hammerhead people chasing you down a steam-room corridor is not scary to me. Exploring a school.. now thats scary because it has a connection with you.
Everyone is freaked out by desolate hositals etc.
But enemies busting through doors after you - looking forward to that!
