  • I love those 2 song on tht sleeve

  • takes me back! I'm 56 I used to to go to soul clubs in the 60's

and dance the night night away, rthen come home to chill out to robert zimmerman thankyou for the the most rounded 45 of all time!

  • Yeah I use to hit the black Bottoms and then listen to Bob.

What a time to be a live it was

This is the song along with All along the watchtower that made the 60's what it was for me

    Especially Hendrix ' version of

    All along the watchtower.

    music for thinkers

  • i love this song

  • On the strength of this song alone, Dylan would have achieved musical immortality. let alone all his other enduring work. Check out Bob Dylan meets the Bealtes on YouTube. Hilarious!

  • In case some of you who don't know, this song is listed No.1 in Rolling Stones magazine.

  • "Once upon a midnight dreary

While I pondered weak and weary

    Over many a forgotten.....".

(they remind me much of each other..)

  • laying in my sleeping bag looking up at a sky full of stars and listening to my transistor radio (lol) with bob dylan singing this song.........gawd those were the days. this song takes me right back there.

  • To me,..this is the best song of all time.

  • indeed...totally right man..i wish i lived those days...now we got crap like justin timberlake as mainstream music..how pathetic is that uh?..cheers man..

  • One of my all time favorite songs. Just gets to me. Feel it in your chest deep cuz it's so good.

  • bob dylan is a genius

  • the greatest song writer ever.

  • How does it feeeeeeeeel

  • Some good organ, bass, and harmonica music in that song. You got to love it.

  • it is not number 1 to me, but it is a pretty bad ass song

  • yours comment "ABSOLUTE SHIT!!!!"

  • what was said?

i want to rant too (joke lol)

  • Answer this honestly. Are you under 20 years of age?

  • 21 darling... wats ur point?

  • Because that says something to me. Tells me all I need to know.

  • True story: Dylan at a Bill Graham - produced concert '82...the concert is advertised as "Bob Dylan: Retrospective"..

but he comes out and plays all his born-again stuff...at the intermission, overheard backstage: Graham: "you see what this poster says Bob? It says RETROSPECTIVE!! now you better start retrospectin', motherfucker, or i am going to kick your ass!" Bob obliged...the second half was all his older stuff....who else but Graham could have pulled that off?!!

  • really?

  • Best song ever

  • dude sid rocked, i mean i no he wsn't the best bass player in the world but he was pretty awsome otherwise

  • yea syd was a joke

  • One of the 5 best songs of all time! simply amazing

  • Like aaaa rolling stooneeeeee !awesome!

  • I♥This song! the rolling stones ruined this song! you can't screw up a classic like this. we were jamming to this song in English and the dude I'm crushing on, luke, and i started dancing in front of the class like hippies. lol it was fun

  • gosh dangit gurl why dont you just go runaway love?

  • people should learn to respect all music rock, rap, punk, metal, reggae, classical..ect i under stand alot of rap sux but not all, i respect all except polka

  • Deffiantly. People on here piss me off because they're so small-minded. I love this song but I like other stuff too. And even if you don't like it, people should realise that people put a lot of effort into succeding in that genre.

    xx

  • i know! ppl work hard to get this music off the ground! ppl should at least keep their big mouths shut and not bag these artists. you can bag polka all u want, though. that does suck

  • wonderful song!

  • Legendary...

    say no more.

  • you just did

  • bob looks really like his son Jakob in this photo

  • music these days is all trash f**k her like an animal this and im a pimp that , pop a cap in this n*****s A** its all trash

  • Hum, I can see where you come from but I think there is some amazing music that has been made recently. Someone is gunna give me a thumbs down for this but have you heard any of Peter Doherty's solo album? I'm not gunna say it's as this or something ignorant like that but he's very good at writing songs that mean something.

  • A few things,

Firstly I think that gyhbhujn maybe have made his comment just a little tounge in cheek. However there is alot of crap music out there today (as there was in the 60's) and a lot of good stuff too. Unfortunately, Pete Doherty's falls into the former category.

  • I agree there is good music and bad music around today. If you don't think Peter Doherty is a good musician that's your opinion, it's just I think he is and thought perhaps gyhbhujn. No matter. Or rather there is: one in which we must both agree to disagree. Diversity and variety is what makes humanity beautiful.

    xx

  • Right...

  • Pete Dohertys music speaks to alot of people in the same way bob dylans does. i think their very comparible, if itw asnt for the skag Pete might have prooved that. as for his solo album its weak, but libertines were the best band of this generation no doubt.

  • bob dylan is a poet not musician

  • to say that dylan is a mere poet is an injustice. he is abseloutly intesne on the guitar and does one of teh best solo performences ive ever seen. offcourse hes a musician, wat are you even on about

  • no you dont see where im comin from how old are u im 12 so i know wat kids listen to thats really matters because were the future and todays music that kids listen to is poison

  • Oh do shut up. Yes, the shit that is in the charts is terrible but you can't judge ALL of todays music on it. Maybe the "kids" you hang round with listen to mainstream shit but that doesn't mean everyone under 18 does.

  • I agree, Im 14 and Im a huge punk fan. I know punk pretty much died in 79 (well all the good stuff) but just cos a majority of youth listen to that shit doesn't mean that whole generation is doomed to those mainstream kids fate

  • 79? 79 was the prime of punk, after about 85 it started to suffocate, i say it died when the 90s hit.

  • I think punk died the moment the Clash broke up.

  • nope it died with sid vishous. i dont like rotten at all

  • yeah. there are SOME good songs out there today. very few, but some. but i stick to the classics, like this song.

  • What a redicu-larse comment!

  • And another thing about this song is the loose, live feeling - you can hear occasional screw-ups, and they often hit the wrong notes on the keyboards, but the song is all the better for it, and it has such a live feeling that makes it a major classic, well, the best song ever.

  • When the Beatles told Dylan to go electric...this was it! Great lyrics. Whoooo how does it feel to be without electric?

  • poetry feeling...

  • amazing lyrics! How does it feel? AMAZING!!! JUST AMAZING!!! love this piece of masterpiece :D

  • it's the feeling that grows with it, huh?

  • waaaa

    a legendary song

  • it's an okay song

  • To MoPar7055 - It's not an okay song, it's a legendary song. That's why it was ranked the best song of all time on Rolling Stone, and Highway 61 Revisited was ranked the fourth (the album) although to me, it's the best. They wrote a book about this song!

  • What book did they write about this song?

  • It's called "Like a Rolling Stone" by Greil Marcus.

  • I bet it's writting about Bob Dylan not the song.

  • No, it is writing about the song. It's a legendary song!

  • Well I disagree, I love music and I think it's one of the best songs ever made. This song would even be great even if the lyrics weren't that good. The music represent the words with great beat and power.

But I respect your opinion of course.

  • god knows, what it takes to become a legendary song. Dylan had better songs, than "Rolling Stone" ... It'a alright Ma ... Highway 61 ... subterranean Homesick Blues ... Gates of Eden ... Visions of Johanna ... It's all over know ...

  • Perfect!!!!

  • "All I can do is be me, whoever that is."

    -Bob Dylan

  • Believe it or not,but I think alot of us can relate to this song!!!!

  • I think that's why it's so popular. when I listen to it; and I don't even have to look that far in depth. Even the literal meaning, it's almost as if it's written for me. That I think was the beauty of Dylan.

  • love that song so much

  • um clássico, uma música que nunca irá morrer

  • i saw the 7 hour special on dylan last night on vh1-classic

  • this song is epic

  • i love the rythme of this song so much

  • just briliant

  • im suprised this doesnt have more views

  • This is the first time I've heard this song. The music is excellent and the lyrics are brilliant, but Dylan's vocal performance sells the song short. They're too nasally and "shouty" for my liking. I suspect I'd like it even more if it was sung by someone with a different style.

  • You'll get use to his voice, it starts to grow on you, and you'll start to notice how powerful it is. I personally love the way he sings

  • For what it's worth: this is the first time I've listened to it, too, and I feel much the same way.

But by the end of it, it's already kind of grown on me.

Even with those minor complaints, it's still a fantastic song.

  • as a Beatlemaniac I have to say this is the greatest song I ever heard, without any doubts! this song has the greatest lyrics (even if my favourite songwriter is John Lennon)

  • best song!

  • best song ever made!

  • I have seen him in his last concert on Spain in Gredos.... amazing.... the best!!

  • Makes you want to smoke a fat blunt.

  • Does he evr brush/comb his hair?

JK, I like his music, the way he sings, makes it hard to sing along.

  • I love Dylan. He was like a poetic prophet of his turbulent era.

  • awesome song

  • amazing

  • The lyrics are so true.

  • yeah great song...

  • love that song so much

  • great song

  • For me the great thing about this song is the length.

Usually great songs like the immigrant song are too short but I love that this song is nice and long.

When i first heard this I thought "this is gonna end any second" but it kept going and I love that because it's such an enjoyable tune. And it makes me wanna see "I'm not there".

  • lyrics are so true

  • Best song ever

  • this is the #1 best song ever made according to the rolling stone

  • Best oldie of the century.

  • i love this song how does it not get more views maybe cause their are so many videos of this same song up

  • One of the best songs ever!

  • Best rock song ever!

  • I effin' love this song :D :D

  • this song about lsd should have been in fear and loathing in las vegas but aleast they had one good dylan track in it

  • yeah agreed

  • UH? And you know this song is about LSD how? Good. Because we all know that EVERY SINGLE SONG FROM THE 60'S HAS SOME BLATANT DRUG REFERENCE WE HAVEN'T PICKED UP ON YET. AND BECAUSE OF YOUR WISDOM WE FINALLY SEE THE LIGHT.

  • this song is so sad=(.. HE had Edie Sedgwick in mind when he wrote this song. nice song

  • Bob is AMAZING.

  • Not my favorite song of all time...but I can see why Rolling Stone said it was the best song of all time

  • It was my favourite, Zando. Dylan was saying things that had never been said before. Things that had to be said and we teens then took great inspiration from it. He changed a whole generation's way of thinking.

  • yeah, it was a revolutionary song.

  • yeah, it was a revolutionary song

  • Who are you to tell anybody whats lame needing to tell someone that there lame is pritty pathetic!

  • that`s a really good song it takes the real spirit of the good music XD, and I like the shout "judas" in the begining X_x
