  • How much force did this take?

  • That is 10x better built than the trusses that are used in home construction today. I am a crane operator and I have lifted thousands of wood truss that I wouldn't use for a shed, but the houses still sale for 200,000+. If I ever get a chance to build my own home I will use steel.

What are the hard hats for? Are you afraid that the roof might cave in. I understand the use of the safety glasses from flying wood chips.

  • @kingmike40 think about the environment, use timber... just make custom trusses.

and about the hard hats, one word... bureaucracy.

  • @Soundgarden8497 How does using timber help the environment? We can cut down the trees faster then they can grow back. The timber today is lower quality than the lumber twenty years ago because younger trees have to be used today because the good old trees were cut down or protected. Steel would be recycled or just reused as is.

The truss that is being tested uses enough wood to make 3 standard truss used today.

  • @kingmike40 trees can grow back in 20 years. metal can't. thanks to the rapid expansion and industrialisation of china wanting to live the same as usa, by 2020 they will have used half of the earth's natural resources. metal rusts, and it will take thousands if not millions of years for new metal to be formed, timber is the best material to build with, it's adaptable, renewable, trees are the best thing. they should be farmed for timber production, leaving old growth forests alone.
