  • Apologies to Randall Burgess, bass player on the "Blvd" album, I was paying too much attention to the how much space I had left in the comment below and did not include him. He let me know as much ..lol. Just playing that 1988 album now, he's right it is the better one... cheers.

  • Interesting version. Cool when band members contribute to the comments, it's great. I have both CDs (1988 Blvd by Blvd + 1990 Into the Street by BOULEVARD - why the name change-trademark stuff?)

    Blvd members:

david forbes, randy gould, andrew johns, mark holden, jerry adophe

    BOULEVARD members:

    david forbes, randy gould,andrew johns,mark holden,tom christiansen,randall stoll

On the inside pic in Into the Street liner, clearly see A. Johns (singer above in video) on far left.

  • Thanks for the info...

  • The original version here is not as good as the copi.

  • No"FORBES" on vocals...No BLVD...In 1983, Mark Holden was invited to work in the new Thunderhead recording studios in Calgary, Alberta. Shortly thereafter, he and Randy Gould joined with vocalist David Forbes from Seattle to form the band BLVD.

You had an aswer by Klutz38 3 months ago.

A short line to let you know that he is Andrew Johns, the keyborder of BLVD and the (keyborder and) singer of this soft Boulevard "Rainy Day..."-Version.

    He ought to know.

  • David Forbes?

  • @ericdwaynemusic

This IS boulevard from the tv show they recorded in germany in '84. It is the original version of rainy day which was redone later that decade in vancouver.

  • This IS boulevard... The original version of the band in 1984 recorded in germany on CBS records. The song was retooled and recorded in the other version you hear on youtube these days.

  • nicoleqte you have this right...

    Lead Vocals: David Forbes

    Guitars: Randy Gould

    Saxophone: Mark Holden

    Keyboards: Andrew Johns

    Bass: Tom Christiansen

    Drums: Randall Stoll

    Produced by John Punter

  • Hello and good news for anyone who´s looking for this song in this "soft" version. You can find it on a just released sampler CD called "Uli Wengers One Hit Wonder 11". You can get it via ebay or amazon Germany. A fantastic song, isn´t it?

  • A very wonderful and calm song! I really love it! <3

It's just a pitty, that the video ends so abrupt...

  • Perfect Ballad !

  • I just found out the more "rocky" version was on an album called "Into The Street", dated 1990.

    It says:

    Lead Vocals: David Forbes

    Guitars: Randy Gould

    Saxophone: Mark Holden

    Keyboards: Andrew Johns

    Bass: Tom Christiansen

    Drums: Randall Stoll

Produced by John Punter for Rock Headquarters

Is this the same band as shown above? Hard to recognize with the big hair and different musical style...

  • I have loved this song ever since I first heard it in Germany (when I was still young and wrinkle free - like the cute singer in the video).

Now living in the US, I tried to find the song and more info on the band - but all I could come-up with was a different, more "rocky" version of this song.

What was the reason for that other version - did the Germaans get the softer version, and Americans the more "macho" style?

What other songs and style did the band play?

  • Thanks. This is SUPER rare!

  • Gooooood!!!!Perfect!!!!

  • Hey Andrew,

I'm still in Calgary & still rockin' although I broke my left wrist & severely sprained my right hand taking down our band backdrop on August 28th, plus being laid off 6 days later & you can imagine it's been no picnic! HOWEVER, I WON"T QUIT - just played a bit recently on one of my 4-string basses.

It's really good to be in touch again, I understand you're doing great - GOOD ON YA!

I'll check out Andrew Johns too!

    Love & very "beast" regards,

    Hans "The 'Wounded' Thumb" Sahlen

  • Hey friends,

This is CRAZY!! I never thought I'd see this video ever again after Germany! That was a very special time in my life and I was honoured to play bass with all of you! I still listen to Boulevard whenever I get the chance, we really had something! Hope you're all still rockin'! I've never quit!

Love to all and Very "Beast" regards,

    Hans "The Thumb" Sahlen

    4,5 & 12-String Bass/Vocals

ps Hey klutz38, you're still the best in my book!

  • Hey THUMB... where are you these days? Do you remember both my last names? Go look for the second one on facebook. Would be fun to find the second we did over there. wow... don't know how old to feel on this... haha.

  • Holy crappola. Who are you and where did you find this? The drummer in this video just sent it to me. I'm the singer... Crazy hilarious. Thanks for the blast from the past. I don't think I have those pants anymore. Any more boulevard?

  • Look here folks, this is more than an instrumental. Great signing here.Another rare one for the "Rain" collectors. Check out my "Rain" playlists at plasticashery. This one I just added to one of the "Rain" playlists: "Raining through the night" Should have charted on Billboard but the group never took hold in America. thanks for the lyrics.
