I totally agree that there are many on Death Row who are only there because they were given insufficient representation from public defenders. I personally know someone who got into an argument with his wife and shot her in the back of the head as she was trying to leave the house. If he had to rely on public defenders he may be sitting on death row now. As it is he only got 15 years for 2nd degree murder while others would have gotten much worse.
Those who take part in capital punishment (eg wardens) are murderers themselves. I would never wish death on anybody, not even somebody who has committed a horrible crime. They should lose their freedom but not their life. I am just very happy England do not use this type of punishment.

In my view the death penalty is the safest option. How often do we turn the news on and see a poor helpless little girl, raped and murdered by a convicted killer on parole? Rape, rape on a child and murder should all carry mandatory death sentences in my opinion. I know there is the debate of executing innocents, but the chances of that are so remote, and even if an innocent was executed, hundreds of killers capable of violence would still be completely removed from society. I totally agree that there are many on Death Row who are only there because they were given insufficient representation from public defenders. I personally know someone who got into an argument with his wife and shot her in the back of the head as she was trying to leave the house. If he had to rely on public defenders he may be sitting on death row now. As it is he only got 15 years for 2nd degree murder while others would have gotten much worse.

Those who take part in capital punishment (eg wardens) are murderers themselves. I would never wish death on anybody, not even somebody who has committed a horrible crime. They should lose their freedom but not their life. I am just very happy England do not use this type of punishment.

there was just an article on the news saying that death penalties in ohio will be delayed because we have actually ran out of the drugs that are used to kill the prisoners. the story pissed me off because it acted like it was a big problem and people were worried and parents were pissed. it is absurd that we ran out of the drug. shows how many people are actually being killed. our prison system is a fucking joke. peace

Take them from the people and take them out the gene pool so we can be protected from them. But I do have a HUGE issue with the disparity between blacks and whites and other people of color being put in jail for non violent offenses ie survival crimes such as selling drugs or prostitution, which should not even be a crime.

Many times, the white commit greater crimes, such as selling blow, yet black addicts - who really need help - are more likely to go to jail. The racist California system is syptomatic of this as you can see the disparity in the number of us sent to jail.

I also support the death penalty in rare cases. The penalty should only be imposed on a person that has been shown to be guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt not just beyond reasonable doubt. Evidence I would find acceptable could be a video taped confession, 3 separate dna analysis, video tape of the actual crime, etc. It better be good. Texas is absolutely notorious for prosecutorial misconduct, suborning perjury, and a number of other crimes against the accused. Randall Dale Adams for one.

In my view the death penalty is the safest option. How often do we turn the news on and see a poor helpless little girl, raped and murdered by a convicted killer on parole? Rape, rape on a child and murder should all carry mandatory death sentences in my opinion. I know there is the debate of executing innocents, but the chances of that are so remote, and even if an innocent was executed, hundreds of killers capable of violence would still be completely removed from society. There are over 50 executed offenders in Texas post 1972 that maybe innocent.-DNA tests can confirm this--Is that the "remote" chance you are talking about? 50 people out of 450 executed in the last 28 years....that's not a good ratio, is it?

I feel taking an eye for an eye is too easy for harsh criminals, the families left behind will have to suffer for a lifetime.A painful death will only provide minutes of payback, as understandable as it is for the families to want to see the criminal suffer in the same manner, or worse. That aside, mistakes made in condemning criminals are undeniably irreversible.

There have been to many cases whereby DNA has exonerated Death Row and general population inmates from crimes they didn't commit. I don't say this lightly, my 18 year old cousin was murdered (still unsolved), but killing her murderer doesn't bring her back or make it right.
