I read in the travel section of the Seattle Times where the head of the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce complained about these ads not being directed at baby boomers. Personally I find most state tourism ads are really boring. This is at least an attempt to be creative.
Dude, that's so dumb, I had JUST heard about these ads and I'm from New Mexico over in Guam without cable and so when I heard about this I thought "oh they're showcasing roswell, that's cool". But they don't even make that connection. It just shows aliens talking about New Mexico. I'm sorry but that's just a bad idea.
its meant to be funny. it is intended that the veiwer will see the implied connection of aliens, roswell, and new mexico and find it humorous. many people, including myself, find it very clever.
It's funny, I don't see all the fuss. They want it to be like our California ads or something? Too bad, we have the Governator. Gotta know your limits.
Just read about this on abc news. Apparently, some people say that the commercial makes no sense and doenst say anything about the Roswell thing. but the commercial says it all... aliens, new mexico, universe, weird text that turns into english. Makes sense to me since the Roswell, deal is a popular topic in our genration.
There's a small town in the mountains just outside of Alamogordo called Cloudcroft. When the rest of New Mexico is baking in the middle of June, this place is still in the 60s and 70s. Amazing up there. Definitely wouldn't mind retiring in Cloudcroft or a place just like it.
I know, I lived in Alamogordo, planning on going back, and your right cloudcroft is beautiful and very temperate. I just enjoy the heat and view of the mountains more.
new mexico is a sweet place...when you lived in west texas for two years and new mexico actually has mountains and snow....yeah pretty good alright. haha jk new mexico is a great place. i want to go back.
I just love it... sorry for the rest of humankind
