@lolipoproxi People tend to react strongly to things they don't understand. Most here have obviously never investigated the church, personally. And sometimes it's just somebody's great-great-great-grandfather's personal vendetta, being carried down through the generations, but no one really knows why anymore. Some say the apologist is biased, but so is the ex-Mormon. I've looked at both sides and am unable to discover anything conclusive mostly because I've seen enough non-Mormon scientists that call the science behind the accusations junk.

There were likely several milling Native Americans living during the time of Lehi. Lehi's family consisted of 12-15 people, at most. Not all of the DNA strand is passed on. There are too many variables to say either yes or no on the DNA but some could still be descendants.

@smitchy123 Have to remember that all wine back then WAS alcoholic, until 1869 when Thomas Bramwell Welch invented a method of pasteurizing grape juice so that fermentation was stopped, thus non-alcoholic. 25 years after Joseph Smith died. Just watched a PBS documentary filmed last year on the Mormon religion. I don't know how anyone of logical thinking can believe this Joseph Smith story. What a violent past it has. Brigham Young didn't want to announce Polygamy, but gave in & then took tons' of women. Joseph Smith burned down the Newspaper building as they'd printed a story on him talking about Polygamy. Some say the apologist is biased, but so is the ex-Mormon. I've looked at both sides and am unable to discover anything conclusive mostly because I've seen enough non-Mormon scientists that call the science behind the accusations junk.

@jmhatutube ...were the descendants of Lehi is purely false fabrications. Their common ancestry has been found to be Asian at best, not Israeli. Thus showing that Smith is a false prophet, and his addition to the Bible (which is commanded by the Almighty never to be done) is false.
There are more, however, that is based on Archaeology, and of course a simple read of Gal 1, which I do very much so believe and in fact know it to be true written by a great Rabbi, Shaul, known as Paul.

There were likely several milling Native Americans living during the time of Lehi. Lehi's family consisted of 12-15 people, at most. Not all of the DNA strand is passed on. There are too many variables to say either yes or no on the DNA but some could still be descendants.

Thankfully Ephesians 4 tells us the need for apostles and prophets and since much has been lost from the primitive church, the apostles and prophets can help us clarify these questions.

If you see things like Baptism, the Temple and somehow self serving then I don't think you understand why we feel they are important and part of our service to God. I'm curious, why is the LDS church against drinking alcohol? After all was it not Christ Himself who turned water into wine? I mean, all things in moderation seem to make sense to me.
For those struggling with addiction it is clear we are to look out for our brothers (being one's brother's keeper) but that doesn't mean no one is not permitted to drink at all if they moderate.

@smitchy123 Have to remember that all wine back then WAS alcoholic, until 1869 when Thomas Bramwell Welch invented a method of pasteurizing grape juice so that fermentation was stopped, thus non-alcoholic. 25 years after Joseph Smith died. Grapes have yeast on them naturally. Yeast causes fermentation. The primary fermentation will last for the first 3 to 5 days when 70% of the fermentation occurs.

Just watched a PBS documentary filmed last year on the Mormon religion. I don't know how anyone of logical thinking can believe this Joseph Smith story. What a violent past it has. Brigham Young didn't want to announce Polygamy, but gave in & then took tons' of women. Joseph Smith burned down the Newspaper building as they'd printed a story on him talking about Polygamy. The LDS only withdrew from the polygamy (still goes on really), because of the US making it illegal by law! Not cos of God!

There were 73 fiction entries, 47 creative nonfiction entries, and 91 poetry collection entries. Entries were judged blind, and the contest committee had a number of submissions from which to choose.
The Eugene England foundation funded the fiction and creative nonfiction contests, and Mary Ann Taylor funded the poetry contest.

La iglesia es cristiana pero no es ni protestante ni catolica. Sus miembros creen que es la iglesia restaurada de la original iglesia que Jesus estableció cuando vivio en la tierra.
