Have you heard the tiger army version?! At least they have the upright bass as well! It's good stuff! I love Eddie Cochran, but good music is good music people! You don't have to put artists in order. Music isn't a competition it's an art.
Best cover version i ever heard is by Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen on the album "Lost in the Ozone" - which shouldn't be a surprise; *maybe* the Stray Cats were as good latter day rockabilly artists - but *nobody* did rockabilly and Western Swing better than the Commander and his gang.
Yeaaaa...and Stones with 513 channels on elephantias tour didn't come close to what a mere 18 year old Eddie accomplished himself on MONO musical equipment. And Jagger in jump/tight suit ranting around the scene...I blushed! What a rockn'roll progress, my o my. Ed would turn in his grave if he ever had the "opportunity" to watch that spectacle.
Well, I would say that Stones of '81 (from middle '60s or even earlier or never) and Eddie of ...whatever year he lived until passing away, he was no father of that gang. They, in my book, are, or developed into someting incredible DULL and BORING as much as/or everything after the late '50s rockn'roll. 2 worlds set apart. Gimme a pogo stick and go Bopa'lena, Bopa'lena.
Sayeret1 Yea you're right. I guess I have listened to both, too many times. Are there any more versions out there? A wish. Imagine if they, rockstar et al, could find a hidden stack of tapes somewhere with about 20 forgotten records of Ed in this class. Or one of the might be one forgotten live footage from BBC 1960? Then I could rush 40 flights!
this version was recorded for the lp Singing to my baby.
The first one was published only on single during the fifties. this one is more polished with a real drum and backing vocals by the Johnny Mann singers.
Jeahhh, this is punk..

TAN BREVE COMO FABULOSA.
COMO UNA PETTIT SUISSE :
"CALIDAD EXTREMA EN POCO TAMAÑO"
SI NO CONTAMOS A ELVIS
PARA MI EDDIE ES MI Nº. 1 ABSOLUTO DEL ROCK & ROLL.
LA OI HACE CASI 40 AÑOS Y SIGUE TAN FRESCA.
¡ I M P E R E C E D E R A ! :
Hiperbólicamente, que se considera inmortal o eterna.
Que tiene un poder misterioso y divino
que crea una emoción imperecedera por sus grandes cualidades
