Was the home owner there? If so how come he couldn't get the stuff out of there when it first started? Or try hitting it with a fire extinguisher? There are no metal projectiles, only paper. Getting a direct hit by a mortar would be slim.
Hey todd... I will admit that at first I didn't think a video of my home burning on youtube was in good taste, but now feel differently if it will serve as a reminder to others about the risks in using fireworks.
You said, "he must have had a lot". Probably true by most peoples standards, but there were less in the garage than what was used that night during the show.
I wasn't aware at the time that my garage had been left open... that was the biggest problem.
heak i live down the street just by the fire station park were all the kids play soccer and i herd no firetrucks! ill come see it when i come up there to skate over by the lake.
I feel badly for the family who lost their home, and I wonder, was it the new, more dangerouos cake fireworks that caused it? Sounds like the homeowner had "lots of fireworks stored in the garage" - a situation just waiting for a disaster.
Hope they have good insurance, and kudos to the South Jordan Fire Dept's fast response

Paul and I were there right next to the District when the box in question turned over and we got sprayed with works. I just remember seeing green sprays around and above me when I book out on my bike. I feel sorry for the the family that lost their house. They were out to have a good time and this happens. It looked as though their garage were closed but there might have been a crack where an ember flew in. I hope everyone is safe. (PLEASE EVERYONE PRACTICE SAFE FIRE PRACTICES THIS 4TH.)
