OK 1: What would happen if eggman got away? 2: In Sonic Adventure 2 battle for Gamecube U unlock a 3D version of Green hill zone 1 when you beat the game 100%. I think they should of made 3D versions of ALL 6 zones. 3: These early Sonic games always start in a lush green stage, and always end in a mettalic High-tech room when its "Heghog VS machine"

how it was a miracle this game was. And the ending wasn't a ending when you played this game (if you ever did) you knew that there was going to be a sequel and there was. now look at sonic the creators even said they need to kill sonic he is getting too old but it will never die. Sonic is a classic that will always live on. i think sonic 3 showed a real ending but thats just what i think it could be sonic and knuckles that has the real ending the only way to find out is to play them all!

Plus...how is it considered cheating, when this game gives you the option to pause the game when you wanted to... to get a drink of water, to rest your thumbs after 5 hours of play, to eat dinner with the family, to help your strategy against Robotnik....perfectly legal if you ask me.

I remember playing this when I was 8. Took me about 4 months to pass or so....The final stage was the worst, no rings and all. I never thought of the pause trick, It took me a week to beat him.

the only thing I found stupid regarding sonic games 1 and 2 were the final boss levels: the emerald collecting system is way harder than in latter games, yet you are unable to use them in the final fight!

The Pause button trick, which is used during the final boss (0:09-1:41), baically gives you time to strategize and somewhat predict what piston Robotnik is in. Simply pause the game just before the pistons come up all the way to use it. The speedrunner even uses this trick in the video.

Robotnik has a pointy/pointier head, different clothes, different methods and a different voice.

It's also explained in shadow the hedgehog (which is cannon <-- means official) for ps2 as well as another game which i don't know the name of.

Gerald Robotnik is the grandfather. Eggman is "Dr Ivo Robotnik". He was always known as Dr Eggman in Japan but Europe and USA got him as Robotnik since the Sonic games came out, they started calling him Eggman even in USA/Europe around the time of Sonic Adventure. Get your facts right.

He was orignally called Eggman in Japan, and was called Robotnik in the US (kind of like the Princess Peach/Princess Toadstool debacle). Sonic Adventure retconned the two names together by having Eggman's official name be "Dr. Ivo Robotnik" but having Sonic and Co. call him "Eggman" as an insulting nickname. Somewhere down the line past Adventure 2 it became just "Eggman" due to lazy developers or something.
