Did I mention the terrible water quality and the extreme crowds.I dawn patrol at 6 am and theres are already a crowd,and thats not even the good spots.Try surfing lowers on a good swell.lmao.shoulder to shoulder.Ponto in the morning 40 + guys before 6:30 am two takeoff spots.You wanna surf swamis on a really good swell?HA HEH HA HEH thats funny.100+ fools,boards flaling everwhere,10 guys on the takeoff,donkeys hopping the shoulder.California=overrated.

A little mushy but no one out.Man I miss the outerbanks.I dont miss the artic side of it in the winter though.I almost moved there instead of san Diego 13 years ago.Southern California isnt what you see in the mags.Its sooo hyped.If you dont have to work you can score the best of all the swells,but if you work you have to be lucky.Ive scored good waves dont get me wrong.But the way its portrayed in mags is unrealistic.Id take east coast hurricane surf over cali any day.

The OBX is crazy. The cold water currents can come on random days man. You can be surfing with board shorts and rash guard one day, and then the next day you will have to wear a full suit if you want to stay out for longer than a half hour. You obviously never surfed Hatteras before

Actually SnowBall, I grew up suring the OBX. What's even more ironic is that I was in Hatteras the weekend that Bill passed. Water didn't seem too bad to me and I didn't see a single person with a wetsuit on. Maybe the current pulled in the colder water up North (video was from Kitty Hawk). Who knows?

you obviosly do not know much about the ocean here, There was upwelling of cold water then caused by the strong current.

Water temps were in the low 60's then.

Check out the Army corps of engineers site for Duck NC and check water temps for those dates
