Im trying to find out what song it is in the NFL Films video Barry Sanders gone. Its played at the end when Barry is running and stats are overlayed showing his acheivements in glowing letters. It slow music, kind of like a march, starts with trumpets, and at the end its just a snare drum for a short while. Its like a inspirational marching sound. Any one got any ideas?
man this nigga is tha best mane hands down if he woulda stayed in the league then he would of been the nfl rushing leader of all time 4 sho but all well it is what it is i still think he is the best back of all tyme
watching this rrun reminds me of classic Secretariat thorughbred victory by 26 lengths - Barry is Superior. The perfectly designed RB low center of gravity amazing balance and proprioception and not just flat out speed but afterburner acceleration - unbeleiveable still so glad i could see him play - thanks for posting this vid
Barry Sanders would have broke every running back record if the Lousy Losing Lions front office gave a shit. Barry quit because at the time of his contract renewal, the front office said "just because you are the best, doesn't mean we will pay you the most"
barry was the best when he retired, he was tired of losing. can you imagine hime with an offense like dallas had w/ troy and irvin. think what he could have done with that offensive line and firepower.
As soon as the QB would call hike! The o line would like fall over and then all these guys would come after him and try to tackle him, but he has the power to knock their asses on the ground. Good job Barry Sanders, you are indeed a legend.
I don't care what any sportscasters, historians, fans say: Barry Sanders hands down is the greatest running back to play the game PERIOD. He thrived on a one back four receiver set, run and shoot offense which is pretty much extinct in the NFL today with no fullbacks and usually no blocking tight end just the five linemen in front of him..Imagine if he trade places with Emmitt...Scary...The lions front office and GM should be shot to this day for holding back a Legend...
As John Randall once said it...Barry runs like something out of a cartoon. Un...flippin...believable. The greatest part about these clips...his humility. That's the thing I miss most about him not playing anymore. And him playing a mammoth O-line in the NFL...scary prospect.
People underestimate just how strong and powerful Sanders was. Go ask defenders how hard he it was to bring him down and how it felt like hitting his legs.
I also heard he can dunk the basketball. Pretty impressive given his height but, when you think about it, it's not that surprising. He has such an explosive lower body.
ALL TIME FAVORITE, hes my idol. i look up yo him. i jus wish he didnt retire so early y'know. i mean he jus did it rite out the blue wit no reason at all, well not that i know of
out of all the great athletes ive watched through their prime (rice, jordan, bird, magic, lebron, kobe, wade, garnett, irvin, brady, manning, moss, taylor, tomlinson, bush, gretzky, lemieux, ortiz, shaq, dream, dr j, duncan, drexler, 'nique, emmitt smith, and many many many more) i am still most in awe and amazed by barry sanders. and truthfully its still not even close, all the others are amazing, but just dont even to compare to how amazing barry really really was.
Barry was the most talented back ever. His yards per carry is the biggest stat that jumps out. Only Jim Brown had as good of a ypc. And he did this on a crappy team. WOW.
u can debate on who was the greatest running back of all time. barry was a special back..someone tht everyone wanted to watch. he could score at any time anywhere on the field. he was simply electrifying. if he played couple more seasons no doubt he would be the all time leading rusher. since he had no history of major injuries because of the fact his elusiveness avoided many hits he would have played most of those games.
u can debate on who was the greatest running back of all time but barry sanders was one of a kind as far as his style and the ability to score a TD at any time. if he played couple more seasons..no doubt he would be the all time leading rusher. and plus he had no history of any major injuries which means he would have played most of those games.
The Barry vs. Emmitt debate can be solved like this and only this.
How would the careers of each running back have turned out stat wise/ring wise if Barry played for Dallas and Emmitt played for Detroit.
Personally
anyone who suggests the Lions would have won the superbowl is smoking dope... Barry would rushed for 2500 yards in a single season behind the 92'-93' Dallas O-line.
Absolutely right. Barry would have had multiple 2,000 yard seasons with Dallas. A 2,500 yard season was certainly possible. The Cowboys still win 3 Superbowls maybe a 4th and there would be no debate as to who was the greatest football player ever. Remember the first time the Lions gave him a blocking fullback he exploded for 2,053 yards and a 6.3 avg.
Emmitt with Detroit would still have had a fine career, but the Lions would certainly not have gone to the playoffs as many times as they did under Barry. Sanders would have had twice as many rushing yards as Emmitt finished with if they switched teams. Even with the Lions, Barry still averaged more yards per carry, per game and per season.
Imagine what Barry would have done with them great dallas teams of emmitt's. 3000yds?YES. 30+ td? Yes. 20000+ career rushing yards? YES. He averaged 6.3 yds per carry until you factor in the 1500 yds negative. Unheard of. I like all of the good and great backs. None of them "suck". But barry was a breed apart.
haa emmitt is great but not good enough to b in the same room as barry, barry is the greatest runningback ever even walter payton sed he was better barry was averaging over 1500 yards ever season and still had about 5 left tell me hes not the greatest
yeah great college back lists....but tell me where the only two time heisman trophy winner ranks with any of you???????????all archie enough said....dayne..ricky williams...bush????....please
yah, you hear all this talk about how guys like Darren McFadden are so good. His ypc avg is 2 yards less than barry's was and barry played tuffer teams!
Barry had better numbers in college than all of them... lol and better number in the NFL than all except walter... although he averaged almost 2 yared more a carry than Walter.
Barry retired when he was 31.... How old was Emmit when he retired 37.... LMFAO. If sanders kept playing as long as emmit did all rushing records would be on lock under Barry Sanders.
IF he kept playing....People can not deffend barry sanders based off what COULD have been because that is non existant. Emmitt was able to keep playing and break the record while barry watched from his sofa in his beach house
REggie Bush you are already putting him in the best of all time. He hasnt ever been the lone star runing back on his team yet. We will see what he does when he has to carry the full load.
No way Reggie will be as strong as Barry Sanders. Have you ever seen Barry's legs? Reggie will not be as durable, and won't have the leg power to be an every down back like Barry. Nobody will EVER be Barry.

1. Barry Sanders
2. Herschel Walker

4. Bo Jackson
5. Earl Campbell

In his Junior Season:
-Sanders rushed for 2,628 yards, an NCAA record.
-He had 3,249 total yards, an NCAA record.
-Sanders scored 39 TDs (37 rushing, 1 kick return, 1 punt return), an NCAA record.
-He averaged 7.6 yards per carry.
-He rushed for 300+ yards in four games.
This was all during an 11-game regular season and him many times sitting out for whole 4th quarters! Unreal.
