I think it is interesting how you use less pedal. However, it sounds too dry after a while. You have a nice touch in the middle. Listen to Lisitsa play it -- she's done ALL of the etudes.
You made no attempt to play up to the speed of Chopin's M.Ms. This is fine because they are, in my opinion, bizarre and unmusical. Chopin's pedal markings in the outer sections are actually very sparse which leaves open the option that little pedal should be used. The middle section is sublime and contrasts with discordance of the outer sections.
I have never heard a performance of this etude with so little use of the pedal and I find this recording to be outstanding and very, very refreshing. Many years ago Glenn Gould told Bruno Monsaingeon that all the great music had already been recorded by countless artists according to the usual, conventional standards; thus, the artist had the enormous responsibility to the public of offering fresh interpretations, otherwise there was no point in performing. I bow to you, Sofiya!
