I think you can acquire the "boost" faster if you have more rings. I had gotten 224 rings in Leaf Forest Act 2, and managed to get full speed in a few seconds.

Also, Cream does tire out quicker than Tails, but she flies faster. So Tails can fly higher, but Cream can cover more distance. Cream can also grab Special Rings with Cheese, but she has to be somewhat nearby anyways.

Cream's only been in like 9 games including SADX and she's been a playable protagonist in 5 of them and she was a support character in Sonic Rush, Sonic Colors DS, & Generations.

Tails is more of a damsel in distress than Cream is. She's needed saving like twice and only in the Advance series. And she never needed saving in Sonic Battle. She was just an IDIOT and decided to stay with Emerl, who was being chases by robots with guns, instead of just GOING HOME.

Funny thing is, I got that game yeasterday and to be honest I enjoy the fuck out of it. So... Sonic Advance 2 shoul'dve used the radar they used for Knuckles in the Adventure games for the special rings. I like Sonic Advance 2 but what turned me off of it was how difficult it was to get into the special stages.

@Tuxedoplayer If they're going to have you do all that work, the least they could've done is give you something like Metal Sonic instead (and they could make him faster and jump higher than the real Sonic and have a shield like in SA2B). I honestly think Amy Rose is a lame reward for collecting 196 secret rings in a game like Sonic where it's focused on speed and you have to stop dead in your tracks to find these rings.

To unlock Amy, You need 7 secret rings to get to each special stage (which is is equal to 49 secret rings for all of them), you need to get the emeralds four times (which is equal to 196 secret rings), and if you die once, you need to collect the secret rings for that stage all over again. That is a lot of work just to unlock freakin' Amy Rose (and I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard she plays exactly like Sonic, and that would just make her an alternate costume).

Sonic Advance 2 may have a bullshit way of accessing the special stage but it is by no means any worse in Sonic Advance 3.

In Sonic Advance 3 you can go to the special stage as many times as you like once you got all of the chao which saves as you go.

In this game you only get one shot of going to special stage per stage and it doesent save the special rings as you go.

Clement, the speed boost you get by running, can't kill enemies by running into them, also if your running full speed (while in boost mode basically) if you curl into ball mode, you will slow down and go out of boost mode, unless you are going down a slope, and also, the amount of time you need to be running before you break the sound barrier and begin the boosted speed, depends on how many rings you have, (eg, the more rings you have, the shorter time it takes you to start the speed boost.)

Personally, I have a hard time deciding whether or not this game, or the original Sonic Advance, is my favorite of the handheld Sonic titles. If it weren't for how much of a pain in the ass getting to the special stages is, and if everyone was available from the beginning, this would DEFINITELY be my favorite.

the chaos emerald annoyance was one of the reasons why i didnt really play this game that much.

Any other complaints are just minor but putting easily missable items in a game which focuses on speed and making you get all of them in one run is Bad game design imo.

I really agree with the fact that the older games made it much simpler and less stressful(and quite a few of the newer games like rush and colours ds)

Sonic Advance 2 happens to be the first Sonic Advance game that I've played.

Though I have to admit, getting to the Special Stages for each and EVERY single character is annoying at best, but you have to admit that it is fun playing as the other characters that have the Sonic formula.

Other than the Air Dash, the other thing that Sonic has that all the other characters don't have (except for the Secret Character) is that he can jump much higher off the rails IF you press A at the right time.

I agree with you about Cream, Clement. It annoys me when ppl say that the characters is what ruined the series. No, bad gameplay and rushed games is what ruined the series. The only Sonic-only titles since Secret Rings I thought that were actually either good or decent is Unleashed, Colors and Sonic Generations. In fact, I'm glad that the other characters didn't appear so that way if a Sonic only title still turns out to be crappy or mediocre people can't turn the blame on the other characters.

Sonic Advance 1 is simple, good physics and classic-like design. Sad2 is probably the worst of the three for its hold right gameplay, and Sonic Advance 3 is actually really good, although it's the first time that Dimps messed up the physics. The jump in 3 is somewhat like the momentum-less jump from the Rush games, and is really hard to control.

I've heard that trying to get to the special stages and collect all the chaos emeralds in SAd3 is even more complex...you have to look for chao in each level or something.. I dunno, I've never entered the special stages in the Advance series except for Advance 1

I prefer Advance 3 over Advance 2. Advance 2 just has way to many bottomless pits. And I hate how you get to the special stages in this game it's by far the worst way to get a chaos emerald ever. Advance 3 didn't have so many bottomless pits & it had many different team combinations. Some of my favs were Amy & Sonic, Sonic & Knuckles, Knuckles & Tails.I can't really talk about how to get the emeralds in Advance 3 cause I havn't tried those special stages yet.
