I don't know any player who can control and keep possession of the ball better than Zizou. He showed a great technical ability and at the same time used his physical strength to keep possession an control of the ball. We don't see much of the kind of strong and at the same time very technical footballer today.

Maldini family is so far that father and son are both great player with father becoming a great coach and son coming to wear to the retired number 3. @noodlesinfrance He neither played against the midfield with Senna or Busquets, so no, he hasn't played against Spain's best midfield. I'd take 2008's Xaviniesta + Senna or 2010's Xaviniesta + Busi and say Zidane would struggle vs. either one.

@BarcelonaDude I'm sorry but Busquets or Senna don't get on my list of the great players at Barcelona!! So adding them to Xavi and Iniesta, in my opinion, wouldn't have changed anything for Zidane! He'd still get them to run at him and he'd just do some magical pass to start a counter attack (where Barcelona are weak)!

I can tell you he wouldn't have struggled against anyone. You can give him the ball and you'll know he won't lose it or play a stupid ball all the time. People seem to think football began and ends with this current barcelona team. They have a lot to prove still, they haven't won the CL just yet. If they win it then you can start comparing them with the great sides of the past like ajax and bayern who won it 3 times in a row or the great ac milan and liverpool teams of the 80/90s

@HaPiE123 Football is a team game so of course Zizou ALONE can´t do everything, but the Real Madrid team of 2000-2003 was better than the Barcelona team of today. Barcelona needs two playmakers, Real Madrid only had one (Zidane) and he is better than both of them combined.

@ZizouMerci I seem to recall a match Barcelona won 3-0. Ronaldinho scored twice and received a standing ovation from Madrid fans. Zidane was playing. So I dont think he would be able to stop the Barcelona team today.

The Barcelona today is extremely difficult to dispossess the ball from. Im not trying to put Zidane down, but i just dont believe that he would be able to perform against today's Barcelona. If he couldnt perform against 2006 Barca, imagine today's Barca.

Maldini family is so far that father and son are both great player with father becoming a great coach and son coming to wear to the retired number 3. Enzo does have great skill, it is very important to see how he develop into a player that modern football needs. still its sad that he would only be playing for spain national team.
