How could you possibly only use 1 clove of garlic??? A marinara sauce is dependent on garlic as it's main ingredient, using at least 5-6 cloves. You should move to Naples, Italy for a year to learn how to make a real sauce!!!!
where would you serve that over a hamburger :) Seeds = Bitterness Stem and rhine = bitterness. Some people favor fresh basil at the end..it is a nice fresh flavor but I a an oregano man. Did anyone see anybody taste it while it was cooking. If it is bitter....your only hope with her recipe is sugar....good luck with that one
I think everyone loves tomato seeds in their sauce according to this recipe. You're better off saying "quick marinara recipe: open jar of Prego, heat over medium heat till boiling then simmer."
screaming hot pan, some beautiful ripe tomatoes, a good lug of extra virgin olive oil, crushed garlic, salt and pepper. throw in some basil leaves at the end. beautiful
Tomato paste??????????? COME ON!!!!! everybody should avoid those kind of shits, thats not healthy food at all... in my country we use fresh tomatoes lady...
You guys don't know how to cook these sauces, come to the mediterranean to taste these kind of sauces. I wouldnt eat those kind of tomatoes... buy fresh ones come on!!! Keep cooking with butter, cause definetely you dont know how to cook with oil... what a shame...
I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat....live and learn.......whether you like it with Clams or Oysters...or just plain Marinara....it's all good!!!!
where's the seafood??? the recipe our professor gave us, include seafoods, but in this vid. there's no seafood at all, was my prof wrong or is this just some kind of an alternative?...
Sorry, but all my Italian family relatives (well over 300) and every Italian restaurant in Australia has seafood in their Marinara sauces....ALWAYS!!! We call the sauce referred to in this demonstration as a simple Napolitana sauce; nothing more than that. Perhaps we both need to take a hoilday over to Italy and find out the truth...lol
Actually it doesn't necessary only mean "from the sea"...it refers to "marine or sailor style" which is why it often is said to be Mussles Marinara or Clams Marinara...I have searched many of my Italian cookbooks including my Italian mother-in-law and not seen where Marinara has seafood..check it out...
i'm sorry, i am italian, born in Italy and living in Italy! This recipe is called neither Marinara or Napolitana in Italy: it's simply Tomato sauce (maybe someone will say "cooked in the napolitan way", but we never call it like this). Anyway maxgiovanna is right, in the marinara sauce there is something from the sea, tuna, anchois, (even if i never heard it called this way in Rome, or Milan). But then, in USA you change all the names! Don't fight upon things like that ;) Bye!!
How would you know thats there is pizza hut and dominos in America u oggi. And bosox is right, marinarais not made with seafood, u poor it on seafood. Marinara is used for pouring on seafood. this is not marinara but just tomato sauce. Being from Umbria, u don't make marinara with seafood
IO LO SO DI DOMINOS E PIZZA HUT PERCHE E ANCHE QUI IN AUSTRALIA E LA GENTE AUSTALIANA SI PENSA CHE QUESTA IMMODIZIA E ROBA ITALIANA. E MI DA TANTO FASTIDIO
@Littlekissa I dont think anyone coming to this page is trying to win a fucking cooking contest...we just want a basic understanding,a concept,a simple base.Anyone can make a fuckin sauce.Calm down slickster, pull up your britches, and wipe your nose. Sit back and relax and refrain from going psycho about food. Its just youtube LOL
AS i stated before you are technically CORRECT but! as an AUSTRALIAN ITALIAN born in ITALY and part of a very large Italian comunity here it commonly contains some seafood, after many phone calls to family chefs they ALL agree with me and 1 with you....YOUR Marinara version is the exeption not the rule...THANKS FOR VISITING.....PLEASE TAKE SOME PASTA MARINARA HOME, HE SCAMPI & ANCHOVIES WILL TASTE BETTER THE NEXT DAY........GO THE YANKIES......8)
"Marinara derives from the Italian word for sailor, marinaro. Due to these origins many people say that marinara sauce must contain something from the sea, usually anchovies. Actually this is NOT the case. The origins of marinara sauce are that it is the sauce that they made in Naples for the sailors when they returned from the sea."
Sorry , this may be technically correct according to Websters but to me and about 90% of the worlds other Italians it is a seafood based sauce that is known as a Marinara sauce. what you are cooking is commonly known around the true Italian household as a simple Napoletano sauce. If you go to a good quailty ITALIAN restaurant and ask for pasta Marinara you will get a seafood based pasta dish.....thankyou and Buon Appeitio
I hate to break it to you, but you're wrong. It's a popular misconception made by ITALIAN AMERICANS. Go to Naples Italy and get Marinara sauce from it's ORIGIN! There is nothing seafood based in the recipe. Thanks for playing....we have some lovely parting gifts for you!
True. Marinara sauce is usually what people call sauce. Well, being an Italian citizen, marinara is not really for pasta but for dipping seafood. Although, you do NOT make the sauce with seafood, you cook the fish seperate. Then you poor it on the fish. When you make mussele, you take a the mussels, boil them, and then put them in the sauce in a pan. Same with a calamari, you dip the fish into the sauce. Also true for shrimp.
Why the fuck are you telling me? You're preraching to the choir, donkey! I'm well aware of how it's made, and have had mussels marinara in Naples. I've also had Marinara sauce on veal, chicken, and several other dishes. My point was there is no seafood used in MAKING the sauce, not that it isn't used ON seafood.
sorry I misread your post. I thought you were under the impression that I thought marinara was made with seafood. Rereading each post, I realize that I was mistaken. My bad! lol
Your right maxgiovanna, that's a simple napolitan sauce what this prick is cooking, these yankees always changing the names of the things, but don't you waste your time with them let them dwell in their ignorance!!

You would get arrested in Italy for calling this Marinara sauce. Stick to American cooking, the world will be safer.
