@RosaLui Start with Curse of Peladon - it's a good one, my favourite from the classic days. It shows Jo and Pertwee at their best I reckon. I started off as a NuWho fan but I've been watching all the classic stuff I can get my hands on.

Is it just me or does Doctor Who, Sarah Jane Adventures, and Torchwood all reuse the same last names? Smith and Jones are popular last names, but they're used a lot on these shows. It doesn't detach from the sheer awesome of all three series, just an observation.

@LadyTimTam Well, Smith IS a common name, so he would meet a lot of them, but there really were only two. Sarah Jane and Mickey. Matt Smith is just his real name, Luke would have to have the same last name as his mother (I'm guessing Mr. Smith is something similar, since he's Sarah Jane's computer), and The Doctor probably picked John Smith because it was so common. I don't remember a character called Kate Smith, but Susan used the last name "Foreman."

@Mazana04 I think the point is that it's not really UNIT... meaning that Martha wouldn't be with them, nor would Mickey; they also wouldn't necessarily know of all that many of the companions. It also would explain why the Brigadier was "stranded" - they were just making excuses for why the people Sarah Jane & co would associate with UNIT & the Doctor were absent.

@Mazana04 actually they explained that they did try to get all of the Doctor's other companions but with the Doctor being such a traveler, was hard to find most of them although luckily in part 2, Sarah Jane does reveal what happened to The Doctor's other past companions
