You have to route the body for the OFR...ive installed 2 of them in my RGT's and one in my Xiphos.....its a pain in the ass! Why get emg's.....so you can sound like every wannabe future rocker out there? Get something with some personality.....hell, even Duncans Blackouts clean up great and can do blues and jazz...while doing metal better than EMG's too.
Nice guitar..........love the neck with the white guitar.
I've been eyeing this guitar, though I do have an RG with neck through, very similar build, but it has a rosewood fretboard. I played the Jackson DK2M recently and loved the maple. Would you say this guitar is good for a two steps down C tuning setup?
I'm thinking about getting this guitar and if I do I'll probably install the "DiMarzio Evolution" for the bridge pickups and the "DiMarzio Air Norton" for the neck pickups. I've had my RG120 for 3 years and it's all stock. I think it's time to get a new guitar XD. Also I don't think weight would be a problem because I have an RG and I'm pretty sure they'll be about the same.
Think this is a good setup? Did you ever get the floyd rose system installed on it? Did it fit and how does it look?
it sounded really nice after i installed the dimarzio air nortons and tone zones but one thing i couldnt get used to was the very wide string spacing compared to the sg. its also heavyer but weight wasnt really an issue it was the string spacing that i couldnt get used to even after two months with it. make sure you wash your hands before playing this guitar, the maple neck stains easilyyyy ! im now a owner of a gibson sg tony iommi guitar. rare to find nowadays
Well as I said I currently have an RG120 so the string spacing will pretty much be the same just like all the other Ibanez RG's I've tried. I usually wash my hands before I play anyway XD
How about the floyd rose? Did you ever get it fitted?
no i never got it installed. if i were to keep the guitar i probably wouldve had it fitted. I just wanted to have the real thing not no replica. plus the whammy bar on the edge 3 doesnt screw into the tremolo it like pushes in and is suppose to lock with pressure but it loosens alot while using it and i would have to tighten the screw. id prefer a screw on. very nice guitar to have though. 24 frets and tremolo ! full of extra fun lol
nice playin dude im thinkin bout savin for this guitar but i have a gibson les paul studio (fadded) i hate it i have a shecter damien fr hate it and i have a esp ltd viper 1000 deluxe and i think its amazing but i wet playid this at a music store and fell in love with this one is it worth it
the string spacing is a lil spread out more than my sg but i got used to it
im definitly changing the pickups to tone zones and air nortons.
only issue is that im new to the tremelo
so when i tuned down one step my tremelo sunk into the guitar and i realized i hadda change the spring tension for each tuning i wanted to be in but not a bad guitar. wish it was lighter

How much did that wicked axe cost, because i am very interested in buying one.

The list price is $700. If you just google the guitar names it usually shows a few prices.

How are the pickups? I've heard they are not so great and I can tell from the video. Do you think EMG's can be installed on that guitar?
Runner077 2 years ago
well the quality on my mic isnt so great so the guitar will sound different in person
but i would still change the pickups
i only got the guitar for the body
i love the look but those pickups were definitly going and so is the bridge
the tremelo "edge 3" isnt bad at all
but im going for the real thing... a floyd rose and hopefully i can have that fitted in there.
as for EMGs... they can be installed on the guitar with no problem
Terrible1 2 years ago
Thank you. But I know that you need a 3-way switch for EMGs. Can you replace a switch also?

I would get dimarzio's
