  • This is a horrible quality, shitty music, stolen video from the person who originally put the Admiral Chabaneko clip up.

The reason the original version of this was good was there wasn't any shitty ass music.

    This video: F-

  • This is a the Project 1155.1 Fregat II Class Large ASW Ships [NATO Codename Udaloy II ]

  • This is a the Project 1155.1 Fregat II Class Large ASW Ships [NATO Codename Udaloy II] :)))

  • Udaloy is amazing! ...3 more are being constructed for Russian navy currently! :)

  • Not true, whoever is claiming this is talking nonsense. "Udaloy", "Marshal Vasilevsky", "Admiral Zaharov", "Admiral Spiridonov" were scrapped in the last 10 years. The 2nd Project 11551 "Admiral Kucherov" was never finished and scrapped in 1994, after construction began in 1991(it is sad, but that is the reality). "Vice Admiral Kulakov" is being "repaired" now since 1991 - 18 years, it needs Kinzhal missile launchers and radars(not built with them).

  • This is a 30 year old design, even the "Chabanenko" is not a modern Multi-Purpose Destroyer. With only short range Air Defenses it is an easy target for Aircraft. This class are designed to fight Submarines they are open to attack from the Air and from other Ships. The Russian Navy needs smaller, cheaper, and easier to repair Warships with smaller crews, like the Project 11356 built for India.

  • The were built to work along side the sovremenny which is ASUW and yes they are specific for ASW only, a bit like the type 22 and 23 of the UK are to work with the type 42 and 45 and the perrys with burkes each subsittutes each other in a certain role, oddly enough it works out cheaper.

  • I am familiar with how they were supposed to operate in theory.

The reality is quite different. The Americans achieved a major leap forward with their Multi-Purpose Ticonderoga Class. While the Soviet Navy continued building Single Purpose Warships like the 1155 and 956, this was a mistake. They used up many resources and in the end many ships of both types have been scrapped 15-20 years after entering service.

  • I view the 1155, 956, 1143(Kiev), 1164(Slava), and 1144(Kirov) designs as mistakes. Soviet Navy planners failed to learn from the experience of the 1134(Kresta and Kara) design, it could have been improved. These planners actually believed that a Kirov had a chance to approach an American Carrier Group without being detected and sunk by waves of missile armed Aircraft. I don't. None of the massive Cruisers have a chance to survive against an American Aircraft Carrier.

  • The correct path was to modernize the 1134 and forget super heavy Anti-Ship Missiles on surface ships. 12-16 "medium" Missile Cruisers would have been more practical than 4 of the designs mentioned earlier. 10x8 vertical launchers for S-300F Air Defense Missiles, 2x Osa-M - replaced when possible, 2x4 Moskit Anti-Ship Missile launchers, 10 Torpedo/Missile tubes for ASW and 3M55 Land Attack Missiles. All this within a 10000 ton displacement.

  • Correction - not 3M55 but 3M10.

This "hypothetical" Warship could have been escorted by a modernized 1135(Krivak) Frigate, that could have been built instead of the 1155.

But this is all in the past, poor decisions were made and today modern Russian Navy servicemen have to live with them.

  • Thats not what I heard. I heard that 3 were being finished in the Kamchatka region

  • There is only a Repair Yard to the south of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskyy, it repairs Submarines based nearby. There is no Warship construction in Kamchatka Oblast. The 1155 Warships were built in St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad, today 3 Project 11356 Frigates are under construction for India in Kaliningrad in Yantar Shipyard.

  • Well, I didnt say they were being constructed from scratch, I said they were being "finished"

  • "They" don't exist. "Kucherov" was the last ship of this design to be built and it was destroyed before being finished. There are 4 in the Pacific Fleet in Vladivostok and 4(1 is the improved "Chabanenko") in Severomorsk in the Northern Fleet. Like I wrote the "Kulakov" has been in repairs in St. Petersburg for a very long time, and it is unknown whether it will leave them or if the repairs will be stopped permanently(with the current Defense Minister Serdyukov this is entirely possible).

  • yeah its chebenko alright

  • russian, interesting.
