  • You both copied brubeck's solo.... ITS CALLED IMROVISATION

  • he has something in his bell.

  • Guys stfu and chill this ain't supposed to be godlike performance

  • The Drummer Is Really Bad...

  • could use lil work but great job

  • Comment removed

  • nice copy, very technical, no soul.

  • where are they from? Japanese?

  • There is a lot I could say about this, but none of it is nice, so I'll limit myself to a couple comments: drummer, use cross stick and not snare. You were hammering on that thing like a construction worker. Also, be sure to tune before playing (alto)

  • Suuuuupper sharp. But overall, nice effort.

  • drums could have used brushes in some parts...but what do I know, huh? huh?!

  • ihr müsst mal eure saxophone auf das klavier stimmen... des ist ja übelst daneben :D mindestens ein halber ton :D übeel :D

    aber ansonsten ... :) ganz okei ;)

  • It is supposed that the jazz has a part of improvisation, which you did not fulfill and in addition they touched exactly as a part of the song the improvisation that Dave Brubeck did on having burdened take five...Therefore nothing has new his cover, since only they apply anything that is learned of memory and the talent is seen when it is improvised

  • as a jazz drummer myself a few words of wisdom, come in strong! dont wimp into the 5/4 time otherwise you will end up either rushing (which is what happened) or will choke. also the balck notes on the sheet of music is just a guide line. music is not black and white, its colorful so add colors, add patterns. no need to be robotic. i like the initial volume but when your adding more sound to the group, we must back off and let them play otherwise jazz turns into a march. most important, enjoy it

  • the black notes on the sheet of music are just a guideline. feel the song and go with the flow, improv!

  • бууууу..... я лучше играл

  • sharp

  • this is the song that my jazz combo is doing right now lol

  • arretez de jouer avec le zoom

  • feeling....

  • Great to see some kids play such an old great classic, yet there were many problems. First of all, none of the instruments were in tune with each other. Second, The saxs weren't playing with the piano; the timing was all off. And the drums didn't have the right tone. Also I noticed many mistakes on the pianists part. I think this band needs to look into it more. Great attempt though!

  • Una excelsa melodia de jazz, un deleite al oido, una extraordinaria pieza musical, un agradecimiento a las personas que nos dan un poco de su alma al interpretar melodias que nos relajan... *****

  • WEAK....I make a better sound dropping a deuce in morning after a Taco Bell burrito supreme.

  • @LatinoKansasBoy thats honestly a hard sound to beat.

  • drums were awful

  • GO EUGENE JOY

  • uhhh :S brave!

  • ok really ... for some highschool boys u look VERY poor and u u r not playing it well at all .. just being honest ..the thing is that u r looking like some1 in ur family is died , i mean dont take me seriously but that is how it is..

  • The drums and piano were really good but the saxes were pretty bad.

  • Not bad, but their instructor could have done better than to have them both play the exact same thing right after each other...

  • the whole is played without big mistakes. but i think their performance is short of the soul of jazz. no sense at all.

    take more efforts on it.

    nice and brave guys

  • Sigh I wish I went to a rich school and my parents could buy me such a nice sax :/

  • LOL dude this is not a private school its public and its in canada B.C. all the schools are like that here except in Manitoba there scary there O.o

  • For those that think they suck, FUCK YOU ALL. I know them in person and they are FUCKIN amazing people. They are so smart, nice, and above all, they are very musical. If u fucked up people think that they suck ass, leave me ur address and I will fuckin burn ur houses. Am I being too 'harsh'? well, look at your criticizing comments to these young highschool kids and you will know what 'harsh' really is.

  • do u have a crush on them....cus it sounds like ur a groopie lol

  • if you know them personally, and u read these comments, it is very possible that u get mad. and sorry. no i dont have a crush on them. i am a straight guy :)

  • @shutupandsuckup stfu...

  • Pas mal pour des gamins mais... dur dur mes oilles qui ouillent

  • C'est super faux ... Ca me tue les oreilles...

  • I would like to see the videos and performances of those who criticize these guys, with the age they have ,playing this song with a compass as tough as the 5 / 4 I am sure in a short notice they will give news as musicians, very well done boys ,just keep practicing remember that you can not begin to build a big building from 10 floor,

first is necessary to construct a good bace and certainly you guys have an exelent bace ,,,,,

  • For a couple kids it's not that bad man.

  • out of tune...

  • Very sharp thats agreed

  • lol! yeaaaaa holy shit when did this get 26000 views???

  • bischen mehr elan XD mal paar betonungen mach mal lauter leiser werden mit gefühl XD selbst nen roboter spielt liebe voller

  • it's really shit!

  • bad drummer!!

  • sooo argh.sharp.

    shoulda pulled out before playing.

  • this is really bad...

  • Also it's an upbeat tune put some enthusiasm into it have fun with it you know.

  • Intonation is wow isn't to good, the tone of the saxophone is ummm funky I don't know what to say for that. Drums got a little off beat. Great song, good choice in music good set up. You could do your own Improvisation... thats all I have to say.

  • I think the intonation is fine, I'm thinking the saxophone is out of tune a little bit

  • WOW! SUCH ENTHUSIASM! have never seen anything like that before in my life!

out of tune, and drums are killing me

  • This doesn't do jazz (not to mention the original) piece justice. Also, they're not having fun. It's really, really dry. Having said that, like Well108 said, they're not bad at sax, so there is some potential there. The bassist I can't hear. And the drummer is really annoying. Consistent. But annoying. Jazz is not supposed to be irritating.

  • yeah i agree with most of the comments left. The audience will enjoy it if it looks like the performers do. and i hear some notes that are very out of tune, mostly the first guys that played. and both of you on the high notes are sharp. also that drum is very overbearing it needs to be smooth, the piece practically sounds like a march. But other than that its fine.

  • Good stuff, but there doesn't seem to be any enjoyment coming from the saxophonists, more a look of boredom!

  • sounds alittle flat

  • the drummer is constantly rushing beat 5 and the alto is out of tune.... and sounds nothing like a dry martini.

  • come on ppl that was sick, did u read the description, secondary year end of year, give them a break,

  • Asian power!

  • hahahaha, like these motherfuckers are united and get along with each other so good they are going to form a power group? get the fuck outtahere

  • rofl

  • pretty nice, only the drums should have practiced more, its not the right groove. The time to figure something like that out, write it down in tabs or notes, I prefer notes, and get is right. You really learn from it.

    Nice job anyway.

  • The problem with the drums is that he's not swinging that third snare hit enough. Makes it sound straight, with no groove.

  • you're right, plus it is way too rehearsed. It shouldn't be a straight pattern. The snare should be improvised, that's jazz son.

  • I know. You should never replay an improvisation. Plus, repeating the same improvisation when the other saxophonist came in made me cringe.

These kid's aren't bad at sax, they just can't play jazz.

  • OKAQY PEOPL LKAY OFF OF THEM if this was taken with a digital camera... por anything that runs on digital souind it will sound out of tune (a proven fact) AND they can use solos done before because the definition of a solo is one person playing so it does not necesarily mean improvise.....

  • Drums are way too loud and a tuner is needed for the first alto sax... Need to work on phrasing and dynamics... What the hell is in the bell of the second alto!?! Stupid...

  • oh my god guys!! lay off of them geez!

    i liked it!!...

  • kinda sad that you copied Paul Desmond's solo...the point of soloing is to improv...

  • first guy is a little flat...

  • yeh i heard that

  • The drums need some adjusting, some tuning needs to take place, more excitement needs to be shown, the overall equalizing of the sound is pretty terrible (given it was from the camcorder).Overall, A for effort, but you really need to work on the performance aspect of it, and have fun

  • u guys were out of tune first of all......and I can barely hear wat u guys were playing since the freakin' drummer was playing so loud that I think the earwax was spilling out of my ears already. maybehes playing wrong because he wasn't looking at the drums and he's holding the sticks wrong.if the 1st and second saxaphones would just relax and feel the music and not concentrate on just getting the notes right, u wouldn't sound so derrible.

  • yeah they deff need to loosen up, but not only that, confidence is key, and they're certainly not playing out that instrument, there's some places there that need to really come up above the rest of the band and you need to wail on that sax

  • I thought the song was in metso forte. not that ur wrong, I think instead of the saxes, the drummer should close his mouth, put his eyes on his own crap and actually play correctly.

  • The name of the group; The happy faces

  • lol too bad that the saxophone is out of tune.

  • yea..

  • yeahhhh i was wondering what that was lol

  • you cant say play in key this songs all flats

  • that first saxophonist seemed absolutely THRILLED to be playing jazz...

The drummer looked really self conscious...

just jive boys, relax and play what you feel

    lets see some real solos

  • play in tune!

  • the playing is good but, but, BUT. after the head its about the improv and you sir, DID NOT improvise. you copied paul desmond's solo.

  • Comment removed

  • @bloodworkscreed In jazz soloing, you basicly steel other solos and improvise. It's called jazz.

  • what song is it ?

  • Take five. Says in the title, you probably thought it was the name of the group - referring to username - dariorammstein, lol.

  • ive been playing sax for two years and im better than this except, i have some years experience playing clarinet so learning other woodwinds was easier for me

  • u guys suck ur way 2 stiff and its 2 much off the part

drummer the bass drum is 2 much use snare

  • piotraap,i agree with what you said it isn't all asian musicians and its just a tad bit racist if you say that its all of them

but its true that half the musicians these days have no lives or feeling when it comes to music

  • they need to loosen up! :D

  • its nice that you know the written solo but its better to make your own rather than mimicing it,your supposd to draw ideas from other solos not repeat them, and move around a little bit you guys played like robots

  • that's because that asian musicians study 8 hours a day because they have no life. They copy it exactly and perfectly and they ARE like robots, playing like robots, looking like robots.

  • meh, I don't care if a musician doesn't move around so much. What matters is the music. Like you said though, it ain't supposed to be pure mimicry, ya gotta put your own stuff into it as well.

  • is it all asian band??

  • oh, and when u play jazz, a solo means improvisating.. even how bad, its better then copying the solo.. and playing the solo of Brubeck as horrible as u do is even more a torture.. for how long do you play?? 2 years??

  • if playing for just two years then I'd say this performace is awesome, lol. :p

I remember after two years I couldn't improvise worth jack (and I pretty much still can't do it so well cus in high school they never taught us how, lol, so I just had to do it by ear).

but anyways, no point in outright insults. Constructive criticism is better cus at least you give pointers on how to improve instead of just telling someone they're wasting time and being unproductive, lol.

  • 1) drummer, why using a bass and not a snare?

    2) ITS SWING, SO PLAY SWING, ur playing just straight 16th's

  • 1)Joe Morello used the bass on beat 1!

2)For swing you swing the eighths not the sixteenths!

  • 1) there's no bass on the 4th

    2) If you don't know what swing is, swing sounds like and when you got no feeling for it (it'll take some time to get that) you'll play 16th's. I had the same problem when I started playing jazz. At least I didn't think it I could play after 2 weeks of practise :S

  • heh he looks terrified!

  • AAHHHH!!! WTF IS THE DRUMMER DOING?!?!?!?! Holy muffins!!! He is destroying this. What's with the bass, holy crap isn't not metal big guy.

  • drums to loud....

    sax should be smoother,

    its a quite song

when you play the solo, its not as fast, theres more rests in it, belive me, i play it

  • personly, from experience of playing saxaphone, when i play i move around and enjoy the moment. i think a nice lil inprovising with some good rythms and stuff would make it worth watching.

  • take five? more like: two self concious robots play some song suggesting to be jazz peice for what looks like(base on there facial expressions) the 10000000 millionth time in one day(with no aperent improvement, taking turns playing the same thing while the other impersinates a steel pole.

yeah, that'd probably be a better title.

you might want to consider changing it...

  • they don't seem very happy to be playing....

  • take five?

  • Nice rythm group but the drum player palyes wrong notes(??) The sax player should use an jazz sax . You could start to play this jazz standart like a jazz song an not like an old classic song without souland groove. Ive played this song too when i was 13 and i did the same mistakes.

  • Jazz Sax? Just a jazz mouthpiece, the metal ones... I think they forgot to tune their instruments, and or the drummer is really loud, or everyone else is too quiet.

  • damn the rythm section is great but that Sax Player needs some Soul.

  • Someone teach that drummer how to play this rhythm.

  • ASIANS!

  • You guys are good, but as others have said you need to really get that air through and work on the music style and feel. I know that can seem a hard thing to grasp, being a saxophonist myself but you guys are good and it would only improve your overall sound.

  • from now you must accompany your saxopnone with the power of your body, your breath. Entering into the sound of your instrument. Believe in yourself, believe in the sound ...

    Jima of France

    (sorry bad English)

  • Nicely done, the drummer looks like hes going to fall asleep. I think they are being forced to play at gunpoint.

  • agreed

  • That's pretty good for their age.....

  • Man...some of you people are brutal. I hope you don't spend ALL your time watching various middle sschool/high school home videos and bashing every single thing about them.

We know, they're not nearly as good as you...

    Assholes.

  • well said.

    Constructive criticisms won't hurt :S

  • saxes dont have a feel or sound for jazz...

  • The Saxophone is JAZZ, there would be no Jazz without Saxophones (........)

  • Hey dumbass, im talking about the people in this video...they are the ones who dont have a feel or sound...ur retarted, honestly

  • Well no shit, be more clear next time and what kind of criticism is that, those 'saxes' in the video are probably only about 11 or 12 years old...of course their not going have any feel for the music. Looks like your the duumbass.

  • it seems like the sax players just transcribed paul desmond's solo...but then weren't able to play it at all well.

overall, good job, but if you're going to play somebody elses solo, it had better be nails. dont transcribe something and then fold on the concert.

  • F**K you bman2101 U're a douchebag. Why don't u try playing. u JERK!

  • I obviously can play this because I am the drummer for a jazz quartet that features take five as its opening number. Maybe one of these days youll get a little smarter, but i wont hold my breath. Ill upload in the near future what the drums should sound like.

  • OBVIOUSLY he can play it....he's in a quartet AND it's their opening number.

  • drummer looks kinda lost

  • i thoguht the sax was outta tune

  • A wee bit sharp

  • Sax was great...drums were SHIT. He sounds like a half decent drummer, however he has no jazz or swing feel, and I would be willing to bet that this is his first entry into jazz drumming. He was so loud, he was drowning out the rest of the band. Also, his bass notes were misplaced, there is only one per measure, not two. He is playing the bass on 1 and 4, when it should only be played on 1. This is a common mistake, and most people try to play it on 1 and 5.

  • I agree, but you shouldn't be so harsh. Main issue is the loudness, and the timing off the bass, that could use some improvement. Overall this is still played VERY well

  • bass plays on 1, 4 and 5! Eb Bb(^) Bb(v)

  • the concert was over 4 hours long! but it was really good .. lol

  • Yay Sergio! Great job.

  • Yes! excellent. You guys are good.
