  • No. Step 5 means you knit 3 separate then

3 together then 3 separate and so on for that row. Then the next row (purl) you purl the entire row. Then once more you knit 3 then knit 3 together then knit 3, etc for that row. Then also purl the entire next row. Them you knit 3, knit 3 together for the entire one row and purl the entire next and so on until you have 7 stitches left (the last row will be a purl)

  • Step five, I think what shes saying is knit three stitches together at the beginning of the row, continue row as usual, then knit three together at the beginning of the next row..

But I could be wrong.. Thats just what I got from it.

  • I am looking for any people who knit or crochet please message me.

  • What do you mean by 'knit three together'?? i can do it apart from this part! :)

  • Great video! Quick question, do you end with a purl row or just the last knit stitch?

  • some people make fun of me because im 12 and i knit!!!

  • @SupersonicBella I wouldn't worry about that, I'm 16 and I knit :)

  • I think everyone got stuck on step 5 !!! She goes too fast but the instructions in the descriptions helped :) LIKE IF YOUR A MALE-KNITTER LIKE ME !!!

  • I didn't understand you were so fast!

  • :/ when i tried sewing the seam together, I got a really big bump on the top of the hat that doesn't look really good when I wear it. Any tips on how to get rid of the bump? Please respond asap because its for a gift tomorrow!!!! Thank you I will subscribe to whoever gives me a helpful answer first :)

  • @daris2kewl4u i tucked the bump into the inside and sewed it down

  • @daris2kewl4u for my first, i put a pompom on top. i realise you already gifted it, but it's an idea for future ref.

for my next (altered already) i have to figure out how to not get the bump. thanks bevhill317!

  • I just finished this and it turned out way too big..

  • this seems impossible

  • is that... knit 3 together just at the beginning of each row? or does the "repeat across one row" mean that you end up reducing 3 stiches twice on each row...?

  • @aimsical When it says "knit three stitches, then knit three together", it is describing a knitting pattern of 1, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 1, 3, etc., where the number indicates the number of stitches you knit. You just repeat this 1-1-1-3 all the way down the row.

  • @thefloyd10 oooooooh. that makes sense. I think I'll stick to knitting in the round though. thank you.

  • lol... whut?

  • This looks difficult, and goes too fast for a beginner. (Loses interest)

  • um......what? i suck at purling...and what do you mean by knitting "together"?

  • @olivethepiglet It means to take three stitches and act like they are one. So with your left needle put on three stitches and knit or purl :)

  • @MadnessOfTheDay Thanks! I guess I just wasn't thinking....

  • step1. buy a hat

step 2. cut off tag on hat if it has one

    step3. say u knitted it

  • wow this will take forever

  • @MsNintendo100 toques are actually really quick and easy because they're so small. Once you're used to knitting, you could do a toque in a night.

  • @DirBlair oh ok :)

  • it looks so easy..:S

  • Is there a video that teaches us how to knit three stitches together?

  • @veganvenus you just use 3 stitches as one stitch.

  • what...???????????????

  • YEAAAAAAH NIGGA IMA MADE A DOPE ASS HAT UP IN THIS BITCH

  • can you make it a slouchy beanie if you add more rows?

  • How about age 24 and below???

  • I finished mine last night - it's super comfortable, and it only took a week to make! C:

  • @zegct1 LUCKYYY

  • I like this video, BUT the number of stitches you would need depends on the yarn width, needle sizes used and how big your head is. One size does not fit all.

  • I knitted a beanie hat another way but totally messed up :-( I'll try using this method, this looks easier to manage than the other pattern.

  • @Migggstrz I forgot I commented on this video XD

    I know :(

  • @pandagirl4561 nobody really cares

  • well done instructional video about knitting hats.

  • WTF!!!!!!!

  • Even if your left handed you can still knit :)

  • the voice sounds like Azula from avatar

  • @AmuletPeace in a nicer way

  • SOMEONE PLZ ANSWER!!!!! How do I make a hat for my little toy poodle? (he's not an actual toy) I need to know how to create holes for his ears!!!!THANX

  • how many rows do you do??

  • why show a video on how to knit a hat if they're using straight needles when you can you just use a circular needle. so much eaiser.

  • @PinkCircleO8 Because some people don't have circular needles...

  • awesome but way too fast. like 2 seconds of what I need to see....

  • I know how to knit but I suck at it. I'm more of a crochet person :)

  • Unless you're making a beanie for a watermelon head, do NOT cast on 87 stiches, It will come out huge.

  • @omgmilac bahaha!

  • The steps go awfully quick!

  • I'M left handed. what's that matter..?

  • shit. im left handed

  • @candykaty122 i know rite its the worst thing eva!

  • @candykaty122 Actually that's great, check on continental knitting ( which is knitting holding the yarn with the left hand ) it goes much faster

  • @mersylla yeah but when you do the continental way, its superhard to do the purl stitch. i end up wanting to shoot myself. but similarly the right-hand-holding-string way goes too slow for me to feel like im making progress. its so annoying.

do you know of a way to purl quickly while using the continental style?

  • @nintendoshadowninja Yes definitely, you could check for continental combined, it makes purling way faster and easier, this is the video : /watch?v=2uwCl90RVWs

But by doing so you end up twisting your stitches, so in the return row you will have to knit your stitches by inserting your needle in the back loop ( instead of the front leg of the stitch )

Knitting combined is easier on your joints as well but you have to make sure you always knit in the leading leg ofthe stitch

  • @candykaty122 lol

  • @candykaty122

just flip it over and then purl

  • Can someone explain step 5 for me slowly? I don't understand her!

  • @animeilove08 from my understanding, you have 87 stitches. When you get to the point you're talking about, knit 3 stitches (one at a time), then take your needle through the next 3 stitches and knit those 3 together (which would decrease those 3 into one stitch). Now you'd have 80 stitches left on your needle. Repeat: Knit 3 more separate stitches, then knit 3 together. That leaves 74 stitches on your left needle. Keep doing that til the end of the row. Turn and repeat til u have only 7?

  • does it have to be size 8? cause I really want to knit, but I have size 4mm and 4.5mm

  • I'm 14, and I love knitting just for the fun of it! I made a scarf, and now its the proudest thing I ever made! I'll make a hat soon too :)

  • Im 14 years old and people 'r telling Knitting is for old ladies. But I really love it to knit, even when I only can make a scarf and little doll clothes ;D

  • @DauwXelfje Rite! Knitting is for all ages not just old ladies

  • @sabrinathomas2010 I know =]

  • @sabrinathomas2010 I'm 17 and I knit and crochet:)

  • I don't understand step 5... how many times in a row do I need to knit three together? One or Two?

  • @shiroosh23 from my understanding, you have 87 stitches.

  • @praisehymn247 Thank you so much! :)

  • @praisehymn247 do I keep knitting 3 separately and 3 together vice versa? Or do I just knit three separately the first time and then continue knitting 3 together till the end?

  • I just made my first hat!!This video gave me a cool pattern idea and cool the decreasing stitches method,I hadn't thought of that!!It looks silly but I hope the second one looks better!!Yayy...Cool video xD

  • im a boy nd im confused lol

  • Hello! Thanks for uploading this video, ill try this out. Though, why use size 8 needles and switch to 9, instead of just using 1 size throughout? sorry I just started knitting yesterday lol

  • @AyaneIchimonji It looks like the first part is done with the smaller needle because that's the ribbed design and that's what is closest to your forehead. So, you'll want that part to be a little smaller than the rest of the body of the hat. That's my guess. Using one size needle would make the hat the same size all the way around and might be harder to stay snug on your head?

  • @praisehymn247 Oh i see, thanks for your reply!

  • @AyaneIchimonji wow. cool! Never thought I'd ever understand this stuff enough to be able to do it, let alone help someone understand it. LOL

  • hey im ten and i knit

  • *gasp* So you CAN knit a hat using straight needles!!! *runs off to go try*

  • Will it look funny if I don't switch needles after the cable stitch?

  • tell me how to start 1st...jezzzz!

  • My hat is nice and pretty. Thanx ;)

  • I agree with others, using circular needles on a hat is much easier.

  • @josseline9090 me too haha

  • @josseline9090 , im 10 and i know about 50 different types of stitches

  • @vumaria u must b good at knitting ..

  • Using circular needles and knitting in the round is easier and more convenient when knitting a hat. At the end, you don't have to thread the seams together

  • but not everyone knows how to knit with circular needles! :D like me xD

  • I thought this was helpful. I can only knit scarves and I would have thought doing a hat would be quite complicated. But this looks ok.

  • aw come on what is it with knit and stuff...

this is ur second vid today about it...
