SID was the chip used to produce tones using the Commodore 64. The SID can be found on hardware synthezisers these days. Making music on a C64 isn't something you do in 10 minutes directly. If you have Reason or ReBirth there are addons / synths with the same tones..

Machinae Supremacy is a band from Luleå, Sweden that combines modern heavy metal and alternative rock with chiptunes. Self-defined as "SID metal", many of their songs use a SidStation that features the SID chip of the Commodore 64.

@jwdowell94 Sid metal is metal with a base of SID music, wich is the sound chip from C64. I dont call it SID rock tho, most of the bands dont use the SID chip, bit rock is a better choice of words.
