hi there..my mother has young cat with same problem,he is near 1 year old,i would like to hear any info, about experience of nuetering and vaccination against rabbies for such cats.thanks :)
Thanks for this video it was so sweet and inspiring. I have a cat named Neko chan who is about 16 months old and she has that too and was born with it. It is so odd to see another cat walk like her. I am soo happy you rescued and took in these animals it gives me hope Kudos
What sweethearts! It's a shame that people look down at pets with special needs...just because they are not perfect doesn't men they won't love you just as much!! In my eyes, they are "purrrrfect" :)
I have rescued a lot of kitties, one with special needs, and they are my family. I'm not perfect, and I do not expect them to be. I just expect lots of purrs, which I get.
You are a wonderful person with wonderful animals. I'd love to have a blind kitten when I'm living on my own. I keep telling myself I'll end up a crazy old cat-lady, but not because I'm lonely, but because I love cats so much.
He is adorable and HUGE kuddos to you for raising him.. I have a CH cat also that I got as a kiten.. orange but with long hair.. When he was first diagnosed was told to put him down.. I couldn't do that and found another vet.. Toby is not 8 years old and doing awesome.. He doesn't even know that he's different.. the most loving cat I've ever owned..
Such a cute little thing. it's not fair people are putting pets with this disorder down. He's just a little clumsy! so am i but that's not A bad thing
I have 2 kittens I just rescued from a family who was going to kill him and his brother. One was born with only 3 legs and the other is believed to have cerebellar hypoplasia but our vet says he it a little to young to quite tell yet. Its a shame that people would kill a kitty for this.
I have a CH kitty that I am fostering. He is about 4 weeks old. He has trouble with his back legs but uses the litter box fine except he needs to be cleaned after a poo usually. He just started eating soft food from a plate if I hold his little body so it doesn't shake. He purrs like you wouldn't believe all the time so he is not in pain. Someone mentioned massaging the back legs and was wondering how you did that.
The kitty crip-walk at :35 had me laughing so, so, so hard for some reason. I don't think I've ever laughed at anything that hard in the history of youtube. Ah, my stomach hurts. I am so glad that Gordon has a good home and is very loved. :)
Awwwwwwwwww I hope people watch this video and give love to special cats. I have a kitten with hypoplasia, and while she's not as nimble as Gordon she does her best.
We were given the chance to adopt a kitten with CH and we watched this video. Gordon is such a lovely cat that we couldn't turn down the chance to rescue a similar kitten who might have been destroyed.
Our perfect baby kitty will be one year on the 24th and he has brought us more joy and love than we ever imagined. Adopting him is honestly the best thing we have ever done. Thanks to you and Gordon!
What an adorable cat! Thank you for posting this and for taking such good care of these animals!! It is wonderful to know that there are people like you who give these poor animals a loving home :)
Can anyone tell me if kittens that have Cerebellar Hypoplasia, are they contaigious to other cats? I may adopt a kitten with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, but i worry that it may give my other cats distemper, i just dont know enough about it. Any help would be great! Thanks!
@tagategirl It's not contagious, at all. Think of it as someone with spasm attacks; they're not contagious. Unfortunately most shelters don't realize that what the kittens have is CH, and end up killing them.
So sweet! He actually seems to be doing great as an adult. We had such a cat at the shelter I volunteer for and she was the most extraordinary creature I had ever seen. She's found a home now! You're right: give "imperfect" cats a chance. My younger cat is half blind and he has perpetual raspy breathing, all caused by a virus when he was a kitten, dumped on the streets. My elder cat is deaf. They can all function well and they are not in pain. Special needs cats are special, period.
amazing how well he doing now, its so sad when people get animals put down because of dissorders you wouldnt do it to a child so why do it to pets.. i love my cat and glad there are so many other cat lovers out there :)
@abvhrulz Then there are times when things are really bad. People don't have them put to sleep to be mean, they put them to sleep to spare them of pain. And to be honest, if I couldn't move around because I am a danger to myself, I hope someone would do the same for me, because that kind of life seems like hell on earth.
This is hard to watch... my cat with cerebellum hypoplasia cant even walk. Let alone running and playing. He can't go to the bathroom by himself and can't eat by himself and also, he doesn't like to drink any liquid so he is also a small amount dehydrated.

Thank you for posting this. We've got a pup with the same condition. The vet suggested we put him down because they said he wouldn't eat or drink on his own once weaned, and that has not been the case at all. He is very mighty and has a great deal of spirit, so I think he will also learn to walk.
@ExcitementBeach I'm not really sure you understand what cerebellar hypoplasia actually is. This kitten/cat's cerebellum is just underdeveloped. His motions are spastic, not antalgic (antalgic mean abnormal gait as a product of pain). The spasticity is because one of the primary functions of the cerebellum is to compare muscular intent with muscular execution and to regulate/mediate any disparities in order to create smooth and controlled muscular contraction and relaxation.
@ExcitementBeach When they go to take a step the lack of the regulator means that there's no check on how hard the muscles contract when raising the paw, so their steps are larger that intended. They just grow up learning how to have to intend to take smaller steps in order to actually take normal-sized steps. This kitten has adapted beautifully. Because the problem is simply a lack of efferent motor neuron regulation and/or afferent sensory neuron input processing, there's no pain involved.
Aww, poor kitten. I'm so glad his condition is now better. I hope he can jump as well and as high as other cats. He's so cute. My cats are almost the same colours.=)
OMG! People get over yourself. DO you think we should put down people with cerebral palsy or MS?
This kitty is happy, and healthy looking.. he is enjoying life much like someone with a disability would..... celebrate that instead of taking a holier than thou approach.
People can be so stupid. I often much prefer the company of animals.
You see here? all you need to do is give something some time to adapt and it will do just fine. I own 4 cats and one of them have cataracts. She is learning how to feel out the house so one day she won't need her sight. Cats will adapt :3 Good job on raising your cat n.n
Cerebellar Hypoplasia is essentially an underdevelopment of the brain during the initial development in the womb....think of it a sort of a type of retardation that effects motor skills if we were talking about humans
this cat looks great and will probably live a very full rich life and i assure you is NOT in any type of pain and ANYONE that leaves negative comments should be ashamed of themselves,,,,this woman is taking in a "special needs" animal that others might due away with...very cute!!
There is little reason to put down an animal due to a disability. Their mind is not sophisticated enough to feel sorry for themselves. They aren't going their days thinking, "oh god. Other cats can do this and that but I can't. Why me!"
@ExcitementBeach Well if you are such a professional you would act like such, I also work at a vet hospital and every animal is different. Just because an animal is disabled does NOT mean they should be euthanized. By the way you forgot to mention the name of your clinic or your name for that matter. Also since you are such a professional why don't you also share with the other people your location and number to contact your vet office. I think many of us our curious at least myself.
@ksjlsjb Yes let me post my name and location on this video full of sadists that like to torture poor animals and laugh at their funny walks because they thinks its "cute"

I've had my veterinarian's license for almost 12 years now, and all I can say is SHAME. SHAME on the person (or persons) keeping this poor creature alive. My heart really goes out to the animal that spends every waking moment in extreme pain.
@ExcitementBeach your kidding right?? CH does not cause any pain at all. unless they like fall into something i guess.. your not a very good vet, are you?
Respond to this video... also doubtful this is a vet speaking.. not educated enough and if you are a vet you are in a backwoods community.. where you got your license on a box top.. get over yourself. SHAME SHAME SHAME on you for you pretending to be a vet..
This condition does not warrant chronic extreme pain.. you are a dunce.
I am fostering a new 5 wk old CH kitten. I hope you don't mind that I am sharing your video with potential adopters to let them see how some cats turn out, and how CH cats have a good quality of life.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this poor cat should be euthanized. its in constant pain. I can tell ive been a veterinarian for 11 years. For animals with this affliction, life is torture, plain and simple. Shame on you for keeping this thing alive.
@ExcitementBeach how can you say the cat pain? you're not the cat. and you're not the god so don't say he should be euthanized. if the cat can say he'll say he need to live his life.
@ExcitementBeach The cat is not in pain. My brother's cat has the same condition and his vet says he is perfectly fine. Do think humans with disorders need to be put down too? Shame on YOU.
@ExcitementBeach have you realized how stupid you sound? the cats not in pain. it probably enjoys its life. its just that stupid people like you kill them because they cant walk right. WTF?
@ExcitementBeach the cat obviously has a good life and is lucky to have a caring owner who understands his condition, unlike you. Call yourself a vet... you can't say the cat is in constant pain simply from watching a youtube video. Well done to Gordon's owners for looking after him and giving him a chance unlike some short-sighted people who don't understand :)
For those that are making comments that the cat should have been euthanized or wonder if it is in pain. Let me asure you that the cat is NOT in pain and there is no need to euthanize kittens/cats with this condition. The cerebellum is responsible for fine motor movements. If it is damaged, then the signal does not get to the brain correctly for visual placement. The cat is otherwise fine. Also, they often learn to adapt and walk better over time.
I think it's great you have taken good care of this cat. We found Bobby,a C.H. cat back in January 2007 in the street. We think he was hit by a car. He walked just like your cat did when your cat was a kitten. We kept him comfortable till he no longer could crawl out of his cabinet demand food. Then we put him to sleep a few months ago. It was so hard for us we cried for weeks. I noticed your kitty got better with age. Our Bobby couldn't walk around like that and play. He wobbled too much.
Thank you very much for the video I just adopted my wobble cat she is 4 months old and she is lovable and playful she is smart too. I am glad that I am not alone. Many people told me the same thing to end her life. But she is so happy and lovable I had to give her a chance a life. Her name is wobble Lucy and I'm glad she is here. Thanks again for the video.
@ExcitementBeach wtf is wrong with you fucking people 1:its wrong to call anyone satan 2: not every creature with a disease needs to die its like you saying keeping children with cerebal palsy alive is bad
@ExcitementBeach Interesting. I was right: You ARE an uneducated moron with all the wit of a dung beetle. Coming back with some 'gay' insults is just childish and pathetic. And even if I did, as you so crudely put it, "like dicks in my butt and mouth all day every day," I'd want to know how you knew, and probably say "Yes I do." Just so we're clear, that would be IF. Very important word that. Pay attention to it.
@ExcitementBeach Wow, even more wit from the uneducated moron. For the record, I would just like to state that I'm engaged... to a girl. I would also like to mention that calling someone gay isn't insulting. Especially if they are actually gay. All it does it prove how much of an idiot you are. And what's great is, you are proving my original point: You are an uneducated moron.
Hi videohost4. Gordon is delightful and to see him grow into a cat and be functional and happy is wonderful. Bless you.
I had a cat called Ginger who looks a little like Gordon. Ginger became hypoplasic but he was much worse than Gordon and he also had severe renal failure and heart problems. In the end he was put down, as he was in so much pain, completely unable to stand, and he was dying. I was so, so sad.
So it's lovely to see Gordon here. Like a little Ginger, but doing OK.
@ExcitementBeach Just because it's disabled doesn't mean you should euthanize it. You don't see people with disabilities getting euthanized, right? Only people with hearts look past its disorder and still see a lovable cat on the inside. Gordon deserves to live so why would you take its life away? Not cool, man.
My cat gave birth to 7 kittens about 9 days ago...one didnt make it past 2 days, and one now seems to show symptoms of CH. It breaks my heart and I worry for him, but I think I will keep him and help him have a full life. Thank you for showing this - I wasnt sure what to expect and Gordon seems very happy!

this cat looks great and will probably live a very full rich life and i assure you is NOT in any type of pain and ANYONE that leaves negative comments should be ashamed of themselves,,,,this woman is taking in a "special needs" animal that others might due away with...very cute!!

There is little reason to put down an animal due to a disability. Their mind is not sophisticated enough to feel sorry for themselves. They aren't going their days thinking, "oh god. Other cats can do this and that but I can't. Why me!"

You don't need to be a vet to see that the creature is in agony.
ExcitementBeach 1 year ago

ExcitementBeach 1 year ago
@ExcitementBeach your kidding right?? CH does not cause any pain at all. unless they like fall into something i guess.. your not a very good vet, are you?
MAMAMACHINE 1 year ago
@ExcitementBeach get over it.... would you euthanize your child because they have cerebral palsy??
noellezsassy 1 year ago
Respond to this video... also doubtful this is a vet speaking.. not educated enough and if you are a vet you are in a backwoods community.. where you got your license on a box top.. get over yourself. SHAME SHAME SHAME on you for you pretending to be a vet..
This condition does not warrant chronic extreme pain.. you are a dunce.

I am fostering a new 5 wk old CH kitten. I hope you don't mind that I am sharing your video with potential adopters to let them see how some cats turn out, and how CH cats have a good quality of life.

You can see the pain in this cats eyes. How dare you make it suffer?

@ExcitementBeach CH is not a painful condition. It would be wise of you to research things before making ignorant comments.

this poor cat should be euthanized. its in constant pain. I can tell ive been a veterinarian for 11 years. For animals with this affliction, life is torture, plain and simple. Shame on you for keeping this thing alive.
ExcitementBeach 1 year ago
@ExcitementBeach how can you say the cat pain? you're not the cat. and you're not the god so don't say he should be euthanized. if the cat can say he'll say he need to live his life.
Don't even call yourself a vet again.
born2bark 1 year ago
@ExcitementBeach LIAR. I have a cat w/this condition and the vet told me it does NOT cause any pain whatsoever.
IntoTheDarkWood 1 year ago
@ExcitementBeach The cat is not in pain. My brother's cat has the same condition and his vet says he is perfectly fine. Do think humans with disorders need to be put down too? Shame on YOU.
AxSDenied464 1 year ago
@ExcitementBeach have you realized how stupid you sound? the cats not in pain. it probably enjoys its life. its just that stupid people like you kill them because they cant walk right. WTF?
bizzaro42 11 months ago
@ExcitementBeach the cat obviously has a good life and is lucky to have a caring owner who understands his condition, unlike you. Call yourself a vet... you can't say the cat is in constant pain simply from watching a youtube video. Well done to Gordon's owners for looking after him and giving him a chance unlike some short-sighted people who don't understand :)
PandaEyeses 9 months ago

He wobbled too much.
gypsydancer64 1 year ago
Thank you very much for the video I just adopted my wobble cat she is 4 months old and she is lovable and playful she is smart too. I am glad that I am not alone. Many people told me the same thing to end her life. But she is so happy and lovable I had to give her a chance a life. Her name is wobble Lucy and I'm glad she is here. Thanks again for the video.
