  • really nice m5 im from uk have a 528i will have m5 just like yours in six months time keep up the good work.

  • @onks1000 Awesome! Keep it up, this car is worth it.

  • OMG maaaan you have spent 23 grand on that .... thing

    your wife will KILL YOU

you can get a BRAND NEW Ford MUSTANG 305 HP, 31 MPG V6 for 22 grand !

brand new ride, it comes with warranty , just take it to the dealer man ...

  • @zloben9000 Hi, thanks for watching. As of this week, I have $29,509 in this car. I'll put another $29,500 in it before I'd consider buying a Furd.

  • @E39Source consider a new bmw then

    BMW m3 costs 60 grand

and has residual of about 20-30 K

so it will cost you only 30 K

you have alredy spent a fortune on a car with no residual value.

    looks like a no brainer

  • @zloben9000

He bought an E39 M5 and continues to keep it because he wanted one. Besides if you really like the car residual values shouldn't be a major concern. So stop telling people what you 'think' the should do. -.-

  • @zloben9000 I'll never get what I have in this car, I know. I do it because I love and I hope to have this M5 in 25 years. And 50 years. As part of what I hope can be a respectable collection. The future may entail a F10 M5, which would be more practical.

I have another 5k of upgrades to this car over the next several months.

  • @E39Source honestly man i dont know whether you need financial counseling or psychological counseling

    still i RESPECT your choice.

by the way PRACTICAL is the 328 or 528i xdrive with the 2.0 engine with 258 lb-ft of torque from as low as 1,250 rpm

this engine fuel efficient engine can tow an 18 wheeler

and you dont get stuck in snow

  • @zloben9000 This car is my perfect definition of the mix between fun and practicality. That's why I keep it, and keep it up. In a 528, you don't get M3 and M6 drivers that pull up next to and have a little conversation before the light goes green. ;) That happened today with a VERY nicely maintained E30 M3.

  • @zloben9000

I think he got this before the new Stangs' came out, and as good as the v6 mustang is, you have to be mentally ill to trade in a well cared for E39 M5 for one. Your comment is so fail lol.

  • Hey Ryan, I have been watching your video's for a while now, starting with your first e39 m5 review part 1 and 2. So thank you so much for sharing. I really think that we can create a great online community about the m5. I am a previous e36 m3 who has just bought a e39 m5 00 with 100k miles. I look forward to more of your videos and cant wait to start my own video responses to help build the community as well.

Thanks for sharing all your info

    Steve

  • @wegshake Hey Steve, thanks for commenting. I can't wait to see your content! If you can produce high quality content fairly often, I'd love to have your videos on the channel, in the same way mine are. Best of luck with your car!

  • Would you recomend it as a first car? I have the money just need to convince parents.

  • @01jeepgc Hmmm, it depends just how much money you have. Buying the car is just the beginning. You can get one of these for cheap, it's the upkeep and maintenance. Clutch is around 5k, spark plugs are $500. Water pump $500. Thermostat $700. Then there are all the sensors that wear out, which are expensive. All of those prices are things that I have done very recently, and have been done at a BMW Dealer. A 530i or 540i may be a better deal for the money, unless you really have it!!

  • The forum/community idea sounds like a good one, I will definitely be a contributor once it takes off! Getting my '01 E39 M5 in a few days, and I can hardly wait even though it is winter it will be very hard to wait till summer to fully experience this cars awesome power!

  • Great videos and nice M5. Very informative videos! Proud E39 owner here : )

  • @dabroolstoryco Thank you very much! Which E39 do you have? Whatever it is, congratulations on a great car. :)

  • @E39Source Thanks, I have the 540i and is indeed a great car. Going to slap on the M-Technic kit on some time during spring, and go for the "M5 wannabe" look :D. Awesome tutorial on driving w/ the manual transmission by the way. Wish I know how to drive manual because M5s are very affordable nowadays.

  • I love your rims purely because it dose not scream "I'm a hoon at you", they are simply just exquisitely fitting to such an elegant car. I hope to see more videos.

  • @SILEXon Thanks! Plenty more videos to come.

  • Beautiful car!

  • Im looking to buy n e39 M5, any suggestions? Also, how much did you pay for yours?

  • @aria64mm We paid $12,900. Suggestions? If it has over 85k make sure the clutch is done. Watch my video about maintenance costs for more info.

  • i have the pink for my e60 v8...WILL TRADE FOR A 2003 SILVER M5 with under 50.000miles. problem is ...cant find one!!!

  • 05??? bmw e39 1996-2003....i wanted an 03 m5 but they are hard to find with low miles...went with the 05 e60 545i....aways wanted an e39...

  • @SmokinFuckenKush Correct, as I said: up to 03. Congrats on the 545, great car!

  • Can you make an video talking about the engine, and what are the major problems on the m5.

  • @nolo121 Sure, I'll go over what I know about the engine, and talk about the problems I've had with the car. There are other problems that I have not had, but it would be impossible to map all of those out in a video.

  • awesome videos man. How much does this car cost you to maintain? I'm really interested in getting one. Thanks

  • @lawlbiker Thanks. I saw your comment on my @RyanKnowsTech channel- manage both accounts! Maintenance is higher than the average 5 series of this generation, which wasn't exactly low. Oil, brake pads and rotors, tires, just about everything on an M car is more. However, these are built pretty well so they don't need a ton of work. The biggest problem is faulty sensors which cost a lot to repair... but they usually don't HAVE to be dealt with You won't regret getting one while they are cheap!

  • @E39Source Thanks man, you've been really helpful. Hopefully I can find one, i LOVE these cars! Like you said, some of them are surprisingly not too pricey. I just got to find one that has been well taken care of, with a good history. Hopefully I'll find one, it's just a matter of time. Thanks for all your help

  • Hi. Loved the video you made. I'm a owner of a 520d in Europe. Recently I had a premature water pump break down that damaged the belts and pulleys. The repair cost me 789 Euros in the local BMW dealer. Other than that I upgraded the OEM radio "Reverse" to a "Business" one and integrated USB adapter to play MP3 music format. I also upgraded the 15 inch wheels to 16 inch. My next project is to clean the exhaust gas re-circulation valve that, in diesel engines, gets clogged with carbon.

  • @raulassis1 Awesome! Upload some videos of your car! Thanks for watching. :)

  • Hey man like the channel, 523i owner myself (from europe)

BTW here you can find real cheap interior trim's (dash and door pieces)

Cheapest and seems to be most popular these days is the carbon wrapping it....

  • @MiragEdoz Thanks for the info- nice car! I will have to replace the whole console in my case though!

  • Paint it black

  • @thexboxfanboi Why? There are so many black and silver ones, and not so many blue ones! I'd rather not be a conformist. Plus the black always looks dirty. There are many of these in my town, and they are all Imola Red, Titanium Silver, Carbon Black, Le Mans blue, Estroil blue, or jet black. I've never seen another Silverstone metallic one.

  • @E39Source ok how about white?

  • @thexboxfanboi Same thing with the clean factor, any dirt shows! If I ever paint it I would paint it Imola Red.

  • Did you buy the car from a private seller or a dealer?

  • @Thatcooliphoneguy I found it in my down town area from a neighbor for sale!

  • Hey Ryan, I made a video about restoring my E39 M5's headlights with the 3M headlight kit on my channel. I tried to link it here but for some reason Youtube won't let me. Anyway, feel free to incorporate it into the channel however you like. Keep up the great work -- looking forward to seeing what this channel becomes.

  • @twalker294 Hey, thanks for watching! Your video about your M5 lights was great! With your permission, I may be able to download your video and upload it to my channel with links in it to yours. Do I have your permission to do that, or would you rather I make a video about it and then just link to yours?

  • Hi Ryan, nice that someone has started an E39 channel, I live in the UK and since June 30th this year I have owned a E39 523 i SE auto saloon, basic spec really i.e no leather however that does not stop me from loving every moment I spend driving it , mine has 122.000 miles on it but it does not show - just a little note there was a E39 528 i SE for sale here in the UK with are you ready for this over 400,000 miles on it and it is still going. Best of luck with the channel man.

  • @largy1964 Nice car! And thanks for the kind words, keep an eye out for future videos please!

  • Why not go to a wreckers and just get one for the centre trim door thingy?

  • @TheDataZoo These cars don't go to the wreckers, they're fixed or immediately salvaged for these expensive parts. Plus, only the M5 (and about 35% of the limited M5s) actually have the aluminum trim. SOO hard to find lol.

  • Accord videos to ;)?

  • @TheDataZoo If it ever needs anything fixed! Damn Hondas go forever though.

  • Nice Channel Ryan

  • Awesome Channel, I'd like to see you make a video of you yanking the transmission out, according to you it is very hard.

  • @jztech101 ...Yanking the transmission out!?...

  • Hi! I personally don't own a BMW yet, but I'd love to follow this channel! Currently, I'm looking at purchasing a 2002 5-Series 530i. What are your thoughts? I've never had that much experience with these cars, but I hear that they are great quality!

  • @abnercus Hi! That's awesome, welcome to the channel. the 530is are great, we had one from 2003, and the comment below yours owns one too! You're best to go with a 2001 or later, with little benefit from the 2001 to 2002 and 2002 to 2003.

  • @E39Source Thanks! :D

  • @abnercus Hi! That's awesome, welcome to the channel. the 530is are great, we had one from 2003, and the comment below yours owns one too! You're best to go with a 2001 or later, with little benefit from the 2001 to 2002 and 2002 to 2003.

  • Hey mate your car looks awesome! I am the proud owner of an 03' 530i and had the same problem with the centre trim looking tacky, at your local service centre they can easily refurbish any interior trims looking old for around $100 per part (depending on size) good luck and can't wait to see more vids in the future

  • @craig9569 Hi, thanks for watching! So, if I go to my local BMW dealer, they can refurbish that ash tray door? That's a lot easier than I thought! Thanks so much for the info, I'll definitely look into that very soon.

  • erm youll have to take the dash binical out then the gauges and that lcd pannel is solderd, best of leaving it

  • Why don't you purchase a new BMW instead of continuously upgrading? lol

  • @BoscoW0ng Because I truly do love this one!

  • I would like to see you make a video about how soft the leather is.
