Gone too is the ex Santa Fe Hi-Level "Step Down" transition dorm (behind the baggage cars with the Sleepy Hollow seats) where conductor Jack set up his case. Amtrak now places coaches between the Seattle bound diner and the Portland bound lounge.
@Amtrak1194 And how short did they used to be? This train is 10 cars, 3 engines, today's Amtrak (off season now) is 10 cars. The only difference is today's Empire Builder has one more SEA coach than 1985, and one less baggage car. Otherwise things are that same as winter 1985....
