You can take like a carriage , i think its called, to some of the cities. You'll find the horse n carriage at the stables outside some cities :)

so u could've taken that to a nearby city and then walk a much shorter distance :)

you need to go to vuulunrud (that circular thing you discovered) for a quest in the dark brotherhood, which i highly advise you join. as well as the theives guild. the gear is good for kajits and stea;thy characters. i have one as well

if you look on the poster map they give you with the disc, you'll see little red crosses dotted all over the play, they give you cool attributes, like when you chose a star sign in oblivion, please thumbs up!

bobby i was on same quest and near the trees the grassy bit i had to fight a dragon then climbed over the mountain and back down without dieing i was nearly to ustengrav when another dragon come! so i ran very fast to ustengrav plus there were giants and mammoths near the grassy bit how ~UNLUCKY

there is a caravan outside whiterun stablw which lets you travel to the cities

If you´re getting tired of running through the whole map to reach a major hold, you can always take the horse carriage down by the stables! Also at 17:00 min you´re heading towards a dragon (note the dragon head on the compass) It´s always a good thing to fight a dragon whenever you can to get that sweet dragon soul to unlock new shouts! They also carry dragon bones and dragon scales that you can either sell for a good penny or use it to create dragon armor!

There is a stage above rested but it's only when you sleep in a bed you own. Also there are some stones at the start which you should realy go back too, just follow the path nect to the river from the bottom of riverwood next to the saw mill.

And yes, you can get back to the pillars for the 20% exp boost.

There are 3 pillars, one for Mage, one for Thief and one for Warrior.

The Mage one gives you 20% more exp to magical stuff.

The Thief one gives you 20% more exp to stealth.

And the Warrior one gives you 20% more exp to weapon skills.

Im almost 100% sure that you can go back and activate them, and you can change whenever you want.

The "pillars" at the start a called the moonstones on your map, you can pick one (mage/thief/warrior) and it will let you gain 20% extra xp in certain skills.

Those pillars are guardian stones bobby, i'd think you'd like the theif stone (they all give different bonuses like the shrines of the nine) if your gonna be sneaky, its south of riften. if you have the physical map some of them are marked out by red crosses. :)

If you look near where you started there should be a place called Guardian Stones that you can fast travel to. It has mage, thief, and warrior stones. And the one you pick lets you learn skills of that category 20% faster. And at the Whiterun stables(and other stables) there are carriges that will take you to any major city.
