Bowie just kicks ass. Michael Jackson gets a lot of credit as the King of Pop, and deservingly so. But I think David Bowie doesn't get enough credit in that regard. Just look at his work over the last forty years; it is diverse, creative, popular and it stands the test of time. He is one of pop music's greatest stars.

I went to all the Bowie concerts in Montreal and a couple in Ottawa, during his Diamond Dogs era.. wore zig zag glitter on my face, got put on TV, got backstage - didn;t get to meet him - alas! but met "the band". Very cool times.

when I was 10 my brother often played this awesome Bowie track from the "changesonebowie" LP track. Now I'm 41 and it still belongs for me to one of the best rock tracks the 70s ever had. Diamond Dogs was a concept album based on a dystopian future and includes songs like '1984' and 'Big Brother" (amazing track, that). Bowie wanted to create a stage adaptation of Orwell's '1984', but couldn't get the rights.
