  • I thought it was pretty damn good, actually.

  • cool live set

  • Good song,good hair,good shades.

  • A bad performance? No way- you obviously wasn't there in the 80's or if u were your mind wasn't!

  • To both??

  • saw the most glorious version at hollywood bowl, in the sunshine. ian with huge overcoat, a month or so after evergreen was released. up and down the pacific coast with tears of love .

  • Saw this band at Glastonbury-spent the night in a muddy tent, had no cash or chemicals, didn't know how I would even get home but these guys lifted me and gave me 5 hrs of sheer entertainment xxx

  • This is pure brilliance one of the most beautiful, mournful, yearning songs ever. Superb and heart rending. What a voice.

  • Jimmy Grimble!

  • @Ducksexbody, @hugosalarm and the public, it's time for my final word. While it's clear both sides have very objective and well founded views on music, beatniks and hyperboled adjectives, I believe that in the interest of the better public and Collins Inc. (Espresso, anyone?), I call this case to order. @Ducksexbody, you have been charged with improper behaviour toward homosexuals and mallards. @hugosalarm, I leave a warning to abstain from wince inducing metaphors (vacuous parrot?).

  • @conorcify Ah, a voice of both reason and authority. I'll assume you are addicted to tv shows depicting small claims court and fascinated by the wheels of justice spinning dizzily in half hour segments. If you read the transcript carefully, judge, you will realize that "the homophobe guy" had NO VIEWS on music whatsoever, other than to diminish The Bunnymen's status from GREAT to merely GOOD. Sorry for "vacuous parrot." When you're in front of the Judge, you don't want to make him wince.

  • You know, your probation officer should at some point tell you that there's nothing less appealing than an irrascible homophobe with a beard. I have no fuckin' truck with anyone who doesn't know the difference between "borrows" and "burrows" but it does hint at an explanation of your skewed comprehension skills and overblown reactions. Are you the last fuckin' beatnik on earth, man?? You repeat my phrases, you're a homophobe, and you're the last fuckin' dumbass beatnik on this earth! Espresso?

  • 1. Mouth

    2. I actually want to be Will Sergeant's guitar. ;)

  • To my mind, one of the greatest songs ever writtten, by one of the most under-rated bands of all time.

  • Bliss.

  • Tell em McCulloch

  • Macca cutting some rough. Second to none. YNWA

  • Why do 29 people dislike this? This is perfection!

  • dont lie. dont act like your panties didnt get wet to coldplays first cd.

  • Hate covers, might as well sing it myself. Better than original though!

  • what a band

  • Just Trying to, Trying to, Trying to Forget!!!!

  • one of the best songs ever recorded.

  • to british pop fans..like this ;-)

  • beautiful

  • Amazing song - I've used this in a video montage for my class who leave for secondary school in a few weeks. Michael Lee's drums always sounded bombastic. R.I.P.

  • this song tears my insides out (in a good way)

  • If this song and "Rust" don't break your heart, you have to be made of pure stone.

  • I saw them 30 years ago and again last week (plus numerous times in between). Many bands have sold more records but few can match the Bunnymen. Just like Roxy Music in the 1970s, the Bunnymen paved the way and influenced a generation of artists. BTW, Coldplay has always acknowledged the Bunnymen.

  • I can't listen to The Bunneymen without crying for Pete. All their biggest songs make me remember their early days and listening to this makes me cry more. Cos of course nothing does last forever and when Pete died, everyone who knew him suffered, a lot.

  • Miles Kane cover is better

  • @excusemeCALMDOWN ...I like his voice, but straight covers don't do much for me.

  • @jackjude yeh i mean totally! I always give credit to the guys who did it first. I just prefer the style Miles Kane uses xxx

  • 26 people have shit for brains!!!

  • @prestwoodwolf shit for brains is 2 good 4 them

  • One of the very very few bands that actually gets better with age.

  • love this tune

sounds alot like Spiders-where does this leave us now

  • @cutandpaste1

No, you're not insane. I hear it too. Particulaaaahly when he goes all deep voice, like. If you knowarra mean, like. Not taking the piss. I agree entirely.

  • Throw Coldplay away and listen to this.

  • @ronaldvanderkleij No doubt. Coldplay is " me too "

  • @ronaldvanderkleij Um, no. Both bands are amazing. How about you shut the hell up.

  • @ronaldvanderkleij just starting listening to them on here, instantly hooked on the bunnymen, proper band

  • @ronaldvanderkleij Coldplay is a total ripoff band. Not original at all. Joe Satriani would vouch for that.

  • @ronaldvanderkleij Yeah Coldplay is stale and lame. This is real music!

  • @ronaldvanderkleij Throw your cynicism away and listen good music!

  • @ronaldvanderkleij listen to both, man!

  • @cutandpaste1 Is this really a Neil Diamond song? Doesnt sound like one.... One of my favourites though.

  • JIMMY GRIMBLE ANYONE

  • Ian's great. and I just love the way he talks about Liverpool and its salty air. Took a flight from South of France just to feel that scouse magic. Never seen the band live, wish I had. But above all I wish I could share a great bottle of wine with him here down by the sea when the sun sets on the mountains...

  • Snow patrol and coldplay have nothing on echo & the bunnymen.

Deep and beautiful and slightly dark!

  • Love this soooo much

  • If you like this then you will like the band I manage, The Ran-Tan Waltz.. Hyped by NME, major support slots last/this year, 2 big London shows coming up in April. New EP released on Philophobia Records etc... Vids on the youtube profile x

  • I love his voice!

  • please come back to detroit

  • McCulloch is awesome on Manics tune Some kind of nothingness!

  • Frakking AWESOME!

  • @Lasse3030 You just dream that up?

  • brilliant tune

  • Music that keeps burrowing deeper and deeper into the soul. One of not very many seminal groups in the last fifty years of popular music and, mercifully, their brilliance kept them immune from mass adulation, which is, sooner or later, the death knell for creativity. Witness U2.

  • @hugosalarm mi tottllay agree absoloute brilliance

  • @mingmong21 Mingmong, you have heart and you have soul. good to know that you are somewhere out in the world.

  • @hugosalarm Wow I thought I was the only one who felt this way. Great post and so true!

  • @Zadunestar Thanks. I notice that you like The Beat. I've got to assume that's The English Beat. "Special Beat Service" has to be one of the best albums ever. Best of luck with your own music.

  • @hugosalarm Yes you are correct! I love the beat (English beat). I have all three albums and their all great! Also like General Public. Do you have a last.fm profile? Cause if you do, I'd like to check it out. Thx :)

  • @Zadunestar I think we're both acknowledging what a brilliant (and overlooked) singer Dave Wakeling was (is). Ah yes, General Public, Ranking Roger, "Tenderness"/ "Never You Done That". These guys turned misery into delirious happiness. Sorry I can't help you with your request but I will say that you have terrific taste in music! May you and others like you avoid extinction!!

  • @hugosalarm Thx for the kind words. Yes Dave Wakeling is amazing. Also Ranking Roger is too!

  • @hugosalarm What a load of bollox.

  • @Ducksexbody Fair enough. How would YOU have worded it then??

  • @hugosalarm I'd simply say good tunes but If stuff like Lips Like Sugar borrows deep in to your soul then fair enough. It probably means you are a homo but fair enough. Now im off to stroke my beard and find bands who's brilliance have kept them from mass adulation cause thats a death knell for creativity. *strokes beard*

  • @Ducksexbody Your probation officer should tell you that there's no one less appealing than a homophobe with a beard. I have no fuckin' truck with anyone who doesn't know the difference between "borrows" and "burrows but it does hint at an explanation of your skewed comprehension skillsand overblown reactions. You are the last dumbass beatnik, asshole. You repeat my phrases, make lists of one song, you're a homophobe, and you're the last fuckin' dumbass beatnik on this earth! Espresso?

  • @hugosalarm Someones extremely mad he got PWND. You sum up your beard stroking ways by finishing with ''Espresso?'' My god the smugness is too much. ''Oh Gosh becoming mainstream kills creativity, Espresso?'' Hipster.

  • @Ducksexbody As a cynic yourself maybe you are payback for the cynicism I often show, whether towards music and musicians or the world generally. I don't know. I don't offer praise carelessly so I certainly wasn't going to let you get away with pissing all over my somewhat grandiose but heartfelt comments about Echo and the Bunnymen. In future I will pause to consider before I criticize just as I hope you will before disrespecting a moment of sincere expression by typing the word, "Bolocks".

  • @hugosalarm The smugness is dripping off you and I typed ''Bollox'' not ''Bolocks'' Nothing worse then someone pretending to be intelligent when they haven't even the ability to read a simply word. Espresso?

  • @Ducksexbody I can't believe that up until today no one has ever called you an abhorrent, cretinous asshole. Nothing worse "then" someone who flaunts their stupidity without pretense. Espresso? Espresso? That was my word you vacuous parrot. Permit me the last "simply word" in this dumb, discomforting dialogue: Fuck you.

  • i really love that guyz

  • oh wow.

  • Still an amazing song after all these years, one of those songs that will never age.

  • I love the bunnies, they are certainly very unique if not perfect!! They played and sang superb. Nothing out of tune there, mate!!

  • Love the Bunnies, i grew up with them. What do we have now??? I like the old stuff, thank!!

  • This great are a rock band!! What have we now, Duffy, nelly furtada and all this shit. i grew up buying this great music. Brilliant to see them on UTUBE.

  • perfect.

  • totally amazing song

  • In the 90s, the old guys still had a chance and people gave them respect, bought their records. In th 2000s everyone takes the pi ss out of the old guys and they basically don't bother to make any new records. Thats why we have MGMT, Everything Everything and One Direction. Thanks a lot, bell wrenches.

  • amazing live performance

  • the bunnies are an amazing trippy band , give em a listen liam is singing the "yeah yeah yeah" line . nice one ;)

  • La acabo de escuchar en el Corona Capital en Mexico. Excelente!!

  • p e r f e c t

  • reminds me of The Verve

  • @jonnytheoasisfan are you serious ?

  • @goonchistaw yes

  • @jonnytheoasisfan it sounds nothing like an ashcroft song , but the verve always remind me of other bands , but cool. i like them or i used to but they ain't in the same league as the bunnymen.

  • eu amo dms, *--------------------------*

  • Can someone please tell me who the drummer is? Thanx in advance...

  • @slugpwr

    The drummer is Michael Lee.

Unfortunately Mike died a couple of years or so ago.

He was a fantastic drummer and a good man who is sorely missed by all who knew him.

  • @BrankoFez

    Thanx for the reply. Skoal

  • E a banda!Fabio sipan

  • Greaat Song !!

  • The words to this song have so much meaning. Great song by this Band.

  • I love this song. Great lyrics, makes you think

  • yep it does at that well said

  • Nice Song. They are so great to hear. I saw them in Philadelphia in the late 80's or ealy 90's. This song is much more conventional than their other music but definitely stylish. To those who commented on his looks, yes young and so handsome and that beautiful skin.

  • I like it...I like it alot!! Bought the LP "Songs to learn & sing" back in the 80's...great, great band....

  • Perfect song for the Britpop age I'd say. It's like he heard Oasis and said "Fuck, I can cut those wankers with a power ballad. Just watch me!"

  • @journeythruthepast He thought Oasis were wankers? I am going to assume you are fully aware that on the recorded version of this track that it is indeed Liam Gallagher who does the backing vocals for them??

  • @RussellBoyce I was just being sarcastic, like Ian heard Oasis and said he could do them one better so he did.

  • Probably one of the most unique bands ever.

  • Yeah...Will and Mac are a FUCKING GENIUS!

  • @loorambient . I fully agree with you. Brilliant Band..

  • @loorambient I think your Comment is proven by the name of The Band lol
