@ASEL737 I agree. Having lived in New Orleans for 13 years, I've flown out of MSY many times. I am currently in training for being a pilot for Delta Airlines. I want to fly a 757-300. When I was a kid, I used to love to see what the biggest planes were. It used to be British Airways flew 747s to MSY from Heathrow, but they stopped after Katrina. Nowadays, a 757 is a pretty big plane there. A lot of the aircraft are regional jets. And planes from FedEx bore me. Anyplace can have a MD-11.
who cares about military, who cares about private, who cares about business, who cares about cargo, who cares about aviation medical services, who cares about law enforcement, who cares about the airlines... Bro, not a good question to ask
Not a good question to ask if you take my question seriously. No shit cargo and everything else you mentioned is important, but it isn't as interesting to most people (aircraft spotters) as passenger airlines. Just about EVERY small to medium sized commercial service airport has widebody service from FedEx or UPS. There is nothing special about that.
Having a 757-300 (which are pretty rare in their own right) visit on a regular basis is much more interesting.
I live in New York City. I am a native New Orleanian. I was in New Orleans for Saints parade and Mardi Gras. I had a lot of fun. I cried when I landed I hadn't seen New Orleans in about 6 years. It is a beatiful city and I hope to see it rebuilt. When the plane landed everyone said Who Dat. I miss walking through the French Quarter and people in New Orleans will say good morning even if they don't know you.
jazzythegreatest- New Orleans is not "horrible". Chances are you probably vacationed there and didnt leave the French Qtr! Its my HOME and to me, San Fran is nothing but a filthy dump!
LOL.. Well I don't know what to say about that except there is something up with youtube. Cause there is nothing in my desc about this video that says anything is scary, thou that baby crying is annoying lol.
I believe there was some wind damage, but the extent of the floodwaters did not reach the area. The airport is to the west of the city in a neighboring parish
Nice video! My favorite approach to New Orleans is from the north, over Ponchartrain, and if you're sitting on the left you can see the causeway stretching forever! I was there last pre-katrina, and we landed in a 767! Don't think they have those serving MSY any longer...
For now, no. 757s have become a commonality once again because Delta and Continental have restarted the use of them with flights to/from Atlanta (Delta) and Houston (Continental). The airport has 80% of the traffic it did pre-Katrina, and it's growing rapidly, so I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing 767's in N.O. regularly in the coming years.
What angle is is @secretmoongirl talking about and i live here

Thats not the "biggest plane in NOLA". lol. I can assure you that cheapo Continental Airlines doesn't hold the biggest plane for MSY!
jeremiah20092009 2 years ago
@jeremiah20092009 what are you talking about?
The 757-300 is by far the largest aircraft that visits MSY on a scheduled basis.
Nice Try, You Fail.

I have been on some planes where the landing was so easy you couldn't notice the difference between air and land. They were very graceful.
