Interferes with the Avionics (Communication and Navigation Systems)... and if the phone is on and with signal people on the ground lose a lot of signal because you are higher and all you are the first to receive almost all the signal strenght making cell phones on the ground staying without a signal...

coz when our family went on it there was like, no air conditioning,,, and no fresh air and my brother was throwing up and i was sick... just about to throw up..
technically if u used a phone or something during flight the chance of the plane actually crashing is sooooo slim, theres a bigger change to win the lotto and get struck by lightning on the same day lmao, but ya they cause interferance, and its a saftey precaution in case of an emergency
but theyre just saying that because if people were allowed to use their phones on a flight, all of their phone signals would eventually interfere greatly with the plane's signal causing a crash.
it wouldnt actually cause a crash, it would just interfere with radio signals and the pilot might lose communication, which doesnt nessacarilly mean a crash, also many phones have offline modes so i guess thats ok
The plane won't crash but the navigational equipment can provide a false reading.

If u didn't know there is more chance that you're car mechanics flips out by ur cellphone then the airplane flip out from you're laptop or whatever.
the car parts are more sensetive, its just a matter of being safe, and not getting into problems with the law
