I made an impassioned plea for him to look at the actual facts, and not just what the bible says. And yes, there are TONS of things in the bible that make me sick. So I would close with this: Make a video response, (comments are grueling) and explain where I made any incorrect statements, where my logic fails, facts that I shared that are wrong....but I would challenge you to so with evidence OUTSIDE of the bible.
What happened? I was told by a good friend that I would go to hell because I didnt believe in Jesus. That sparked my interest. I began to read the bible,and many books(yes some on atheism) but others on christianity, and Islam, and Philosophy. And of course something in my life has shaped my conclusions. Same with you. You LEARNED your religion from somebody. So what? That is irrelevant.
We are all a product of our environment, education, etc. I just decided to start using my curiosity and critical thinking skills a little more. And BTW, when this video was uploaded I had already been an atheist for about 4 years. So...veteran, maybe not, but NEWLY atheist....nah. In any case, that is also irrelevant. Onto more cliches: I must have had a bad experience with the church right? Something horrible must have happened and Im mad at god. I don't think you people quite comprehend The Bible. The Bible is sort of a set of rules, not a set of stories that happened. It is a book for morality, not for bed-time stories. We don't necessarily believe Noah had (insert number here) animals on a boat just sailing in a storm. We believe it is more like a moral to say "Don't mess with God, he won't hurt you." Mostly anything in The Old Testament is thought of as a morality statement.

Most people do not understand that that the Bible is NOT dictation of God but it is inspired word of God. God inspired people to write His guidance and message for the benefit of people. It is NOT direct word of God like as claimed about Quran.
Once you understand why the Bible is called word of God, then you can present your objection. In nutshell, the Bible carries only truth and thus it is infallible.
My point stands. Call it dictated, or call it inspired. This is supposed to be the text that best represents the all powerful creator of the universe. Yet it stinks of being entirely human.
The Bible does not "represent" the Creator. It is simply record of interaction of God with the world. It is for the humans written by humans. The Bible records actions of humans apart from God's interactions. There is even one book in the Bible where God is not even mentioned.
The Bible stands infallible even today but some people differ based on their "interpretations". God created us free and each person is free to have his opinion and faith.

This video addresses archeological evidence. That is just ONE of the reasons that we can conclude that events in the bible either didnt happen, or didnt happen as described. The scribe thing is just ridiculous...I recommend you read some Bart Ehrman, so you get a real perspective on how the bible was actually written. @djosephallen: I read about Bart Ehrman albeit briefly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course and I respect that. The one thing about the Word of God is that you really can't add anything to it. The kind of Wisdom contained in the Holy Bible could only come from one source, sir, and that is God. It's true what I said as well and not an appeal to tradition. I don't place tradition above the Word of God. His word remains while other words have faded with the passage of time.
He does have opinions. But his FACTS about how the bible was written, copied, changed, altered...and that we dont have the original copies, are accepted by most biblical scholars. The main differences you will find in the original Greek/Hebrew (some Aramaic) interpretations are that some (NIV) are written in contemporary English and some (KJV) are written in old English. The word is the same. What the JW did was to actually change the interpretative meanings of words. This is blasphemy.

I don't think you people quite comprehend The Bible. The Bible is sort of a set of rules, not a set of stories that happened. It is a book for morality, not for bed-time stories. We don't necessarily believe Noah had (insert number here) animals on a boat just sailing in a storm. We believe it is more like a moral to say "Don't mess with God, he won't hurt you." Mostly anything in The Old Testament is thought of as a morality statement.

Most people do not understand that that the Bible is NOT dictation of God but it is inspired word of God. God inspired people to write His guidance and message for the benefit of people. It is NOT direct word of God like as claimed about Quran.
Once you understand why the Bible is called word of God, then you can present your objection. In nutshell, the Bible carries only truth and thus it is infallible.

The Bible does not "represent" the Creator. It is simply record of interaction of God with the world. It is for the humans written by humans. The Bible records actions of humans apart from God's interactions. There is even one book in the Bible where God is not even mentioned.
The Bible stands infallible even today but some people differ based on their "interpretations". God created us free and each person is free to have his opinion and faith.

The bible names places that existed and some people who existed as well, but, just like Spiderman, the bible is FICTION with many fictitious characters and stories, and its histories are very often NOT historical, but even more fiction.
For example, Moses, as described in Exodus, never existed. No Hebrew enslavement or exodus or parting of the Red Sea or 40 years in the desert.

Do you watch documentaries? visit musuems? the scribe thing isn't ridiculous-it's a fact as well. I don't know who Bart Ehrman is, but I'll be sure to look into that. I don't think the Holy Bible's longevity is an accident otherwise it wouldn't be around-period. Not an appeal-just something to really, really think about.

So, let me get this straight: because they didn't find something in particular then it didn't happen? The Holy Bible is not fake. The events and people contained within are quite real. Being a scribe in those times was a position that held high regard and responsibility and I doubt they would waste even a minute documenting something that wasn't true. If the Holy Bible is so fake then why is it still around when other books of so-called "knowledge and wisdom" have been forgotten and vanished?

That comment has so many bad arguments, it almost merits no response.
This video addresses archeological evidence. That is just ONE of the reasons that we can conclude that events in the bible either didnt happen, or didnt happen as described. The scribe thing is just ridiculous...I recommend you read some Bart Ehrman, so you get a real perspective on how the bible was actually written. The last sentence is nothing more than appeal to antiquity/tradition. Logical fallacy 101 my friend.

The one thing about the Word of God is that you really can't add anything to it. The kind of Wisdom contained in the Holy Bible could only come from one source, sir, and that is God. It's true what I said as well and not an appeal to tradition. I don't place tradition above the Word of God. His word remains while other words have faded with the passage of time.

I don't know much about Hinduism so I can't speak on it. I am a Christian and my beliefs and faith are in what I consider to be the Truth, in God's ETERNAL and LIVING word. Did He tell me personally? it's in the Holy Bible and clearly the Lord intended it to be read and understood so YES!

Most Christians that I know have spent there whole lives stuck in there version of the so-called Bible when there are more bibles then you can shake a stick at. I for example was raised a JW and cured myself from that insanity by studying more knowledge outside of that cult. People are just lazy and don' t want to have to think for themselves. @Stick3x Your correct that JH is a cult, and they do have their own 'version" of the Bible, they changed the original scripture to meet their wants.
The main differences you will find in the original Greek/Hebrew (some Aramaic) interpretations are that some (NIV) are written in contemporary English and some (KJV) are written in old English. The word is the same. What the JW did was to actually change the interpretative meanings of words. This is blasphemy.

You have to wait for God to reveal himself to you. Does not sound like you did. It might be that night, the next day or next year, but he does reveal himself to you.
